That Hammerdown has chosen a nondescript rustbucket as his alternate disguise is telling; he prefers not to stick out. Behind his quiet facade lies the mind of a brilliant tactician and his engagement advice carries great weight with Omni. As a warrior he is no slouch and his twin shoulder mounted sonic disruptors are more than capable of disintegrating Decepticons at a molecular level. As much as he excels in battle he sees the futility of this extended conflict and fears for the long term future of the Cybertronian race as a whole.
