IDW SELLS OUT!
Swallow Book Two Among Many Sold-Out IDW Publishing Titles

San Diego, CA (April 17, 2006)¡XWhat do a reborn title, Clive Barker's latest, some transforming beasts, an art bonanza from Ash Wood and friends, and a couple vampire tales have in common? They're all among the latest IDW Publishing titles to completely sell out through Diamond. In addition to the sell-outs IDW recently experienced with SUPERMARKET #'s 1 & 2, the company announced today that the following books are also sold out through Diamond:

  • 30 DAYS OF NIGHT: DEAD SPACE # 1 & 2

  • ANGEL: OLD FRIENDS # 2 & 3

  • CLIVE BARKER'S THE GREAT & SECRET SHOW #1

  • FALLEN ANGEL # 1, 2, & 3

  • SWALLOW BOOK TWO

  • TRANSFORMERS: BEAST WARS #2

  • UNDERWORLD: EVOLUTION

  • ¡§It's great to see quality books met with such positive performance,¡¨ said IDW's Publisher and Editor-in-Chief Chris Ryall. ¡§We print significantly more copies than the initial orders we receive from Diamond. When we set a print run for a book, we try to print enough copies so that retailers will be able to re-order the books through the run of the series. These sell-outs caught us by a surprise, and signal a nice upturn for the industry in general. I also hope these numerous sell-outs encourage retailers to similarly recognize the demand for IDW's books and order accordingly. As much as I love to see a title sell out, I like even more for anyone who wants an IDW comic to be able to easily find it.¡¨

SWALLOW BOOK TWO will receive a second printing, along with a new cover from artist Ashley Wood. Retailers can order the second printing with item code # FEB06 806. The second print is due to arrive in stores on May 17, the same day the second printings of SUPERMARKET arrive.

IDW, publisher of the new Transformers comics has won another award. They have won a Gem Award for the third straight year. The Gem Awards are given out by Diamond Comics Distributors. IDW won the award for Comic Book Publisher of the Year Under 5% Market Share.

"San Diego, CA (April 12, 2006)—Earlier this month, Diamond Comics Distributors announced the winners of its retailer-selected, 16th annual Diamond Gem Awards, and once again, IDW Publishing finished at the top.

For the third straight year, IDW collected the Gem Award for Comic Book Publisher of the Year Under 5% Market Share.

The Gem Awards are Diamond's annual recognition of outstanding vendors in the comics industry. Vendors are nominated by a panel of Diamond product specialists on the basis of their overall impact on the industry, while comics and related merchandise are chosen on the merits of their quality, creativity and sales performance. The winners each year are chosen by retailers.

Gem Award nominees are selected by a panel of Diamond product specialists on the basis of their overall impact on the industry, while comics and other related merchandise were chosen on the merits of their quality, creativity and sales performance in 2005. Retailers were able to cast their votes with ballots contained with the February Previews Retailer Order Form, Previews on Windows, Previews for DOS and the Ordering page of Diamond Online's Retailer Services Area.

In 2005, IDW successfully launched a line of comics based on Joss Whedon’s Angel, returned the Transformers to the marketplace, and extended its reinvigoration of horror comics with the throwback magazine, Doomed, among many other accomplishments. Three of IDW’s 2005 releases, Doomed, Smoke, and Heartbreakers Meet Boilerplate, recently received nominations for Eisner Awards, the industry’s top honor.

“We are very proud to receive this award for the third year in a row,” said IDW’s President, Robbie Robbins. “In 2005, we had a very diverse publishing line, from licensed properties like CSI, 24, and Shaun of the Dead, creator-owned books like Easy Way, Night Mary, and our 30 Days of Night series, and art books like Swallow, and Sencilla Fanta. We have tried to service a wide range of fans and to get those fans into the comic book stores. Adding titles like The Transformers, Supermarket, and Ben Templesmith’s Wormwood Gentleman Corpse to that slate has me very optimistic about 2006 and beyond, too. Thanks once again to Diamond and comic retailers for this honor.”

A complete list of the 2005 Gem Award winners is available on the inside back cover of the April issue of Diamond Dialogue, and a PDF of all the winners is available here:

    Official Press Release:

DreamWorks will be treating thousands of fans to a preview of what is coming up from the studio at this year's Comic-Con International, being held from July 13-17 in San Diego, CA. Those who come by the DreamWorks booth (#3729) will have an opportunity to be among the first to attend exclusive advance screenings of two of DreamWorks' big live-action summer releases. They will also see, firsthand, some exciting behind-the-scenes props and sets, including one big surprise, yet to be announced.

Here is some of what awaits fans visiting the DreamWorks booth at Comic-Con International:

    * Free passes to a special advance screening of Michael Bay's new futuristic action thriller The Island.

    * Free tickets to the first public screening of Wes Craven's new suspense thriller Red Eye.

    * Exclusive footage from some of the new animated features coming from DreamWorks Animation, including Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit, Over the Hedge, and Flushed Away.

    * Fun giveaways from several of our upcoming films, including the Japanese cult hit Casshern.

Fans will also get a glimpse behind-the-scenes at a variety of props and actual sets from DreamWorks' upcoming slate, including:

    * The real movie sets used to create DreamWorks' and Aardman's clay-animated feature Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit, together with concept art by Wallace & Gromit creator and director Nick Park.

    * Character maquettes and conceptual artwork from the computer-animated comedy Over the Hedge.

    * A full-sized flying motorcycle, called the Wasp, which is featured in an explosive action sequence in Michael Bay's new action thriller The Island.

In addition, it has recently been announced that DreamWorks Pictures and Paramount Pictures, in association with Hasbro, Inc., will produce a new live-action motion picture based on the globally popular Transformers. Fans at Comic-Con will actually participate in the launch of the movie's website, and will be treated to a few surprises to kick off the film's promotional campaign. Transformers is being produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Constantine), Don Murphy (The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen) and Tom DeSanto (X-Men and X2: X-Men United), with Steven Spielberg (War of the Worlds) executive producing.

Opening nationwide on July 22, The Island stars Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson as Lincoln Six-Echo and Jordan Two-Delta, two residents of a seemingly utopian but contained facility in the mid-21st century. Like all of the inhabitants of this carefully controlled environment, Lincoln and Jordan hope to be chosen to go to the "The Island" - reportedly the last uncontaminated spot on the planet - until they learn that everything about their existence is a lie and that they are actually more valuable dead than alive. Michael Bay directed The Island from a screenplay by Caspian Tredwell-Owen and Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci, from a story by Tredwell-Owen.

A suspense thriller at 30,000 feet, Red Eye opens nationwide on August 19. Lisa Reisert (Rachel McAdams) hates to fly, but the terror that awaits her on the night flight to Miami has nothing to do with a fear of flying. Moments after takeoff, her seatmate, Jackson (Cillian Murphy), menacingly reveals the real reason he's on board: He is an operative in a plot to assassinate the Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security and Lisa is the key to its success. Red Eye was directed by Wes Craven from a screenplay by Carl Ellsworth, from a story by Ellsworth and Dan Foos.

Opening nationwide on October 7, Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit is the first feature-length film featuring the beloved characters from Aardman's Academy Award®-winning shorts in a brand new comedy adventure. Nick Park, the creator of Wallace & Gromit, directed the film with Steve Box.

An action-packed sci-fi thriller, Kazuaki Kiriya's Casshern blends Japanimation and manga-inspired live action resulting a new kind of hybrid filmmaking that is both visually stunning and thought-provoking. The story takes place late in the 21st century, following a half century of war that has left the planet ravaged and the entire human race dispirited and exhausted. A geneticist brings hope in the form of a "neo-cell," which can rejuvenate human parts with no risk of rejection, but nature interferes with science to create a new menace that forces the entire human race to fight an ultimate war against its own extinction. DreamWorks will release the Japanese hit under the banner of its specialty film division, Go Fish Pictures.

Bruce Willis and Garry Shandling head up the all-star voice cast of the computer-animated comedy Over the Hedge, based on the popular comic strip by Michael Fry and T Lewis. When a group of woodland creatures find a suburban housing development encroaching on their forest home, they become unlikely allies as they learn to co-exist with - and even exploit - this strange new world called suburbia. Over the Hedge is slated for release by DreamWorks Animation in Summer 2006.

Flushed Away is a computer-animated comedy adventure set on and beneath the streets of London, starring the voices of Hugh Jackman and Kate Winslet. Roddy (Jackman) is an upper-crust "society rat," who is rather rudely evicted from his Kensington flat when he is flushed down into Ratropolis, the bustling sewer world under London's streets. There, he meets Rita (Winslet), an enterprising scavenger. Though completely out of his element at first, the privileged Roddy finds himself an unlikely hero when he learns that Ratropolis is in danger from the world above. From DreamWorks Animation and Aardman, Flushed Away is scheduled for release in Fall 2006.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DreamWorks Animation SKG (NYSE-DWA) is devoted to producing high-quality family entertainment through the use of computer-generated (CG) animation. Utilizing world-class creative talent and state-of-the-art technological capabilities, the company is committed to making two computer-animated feature films a year that appeal to a broad movie-going audience.

DreamWorks SKG was formed in October, 1994, by its three principal partners - Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Geffen - to produce live-action motion pictures; animated feature films; network and cable television programming; home video entertainment; records; books; toys; and consumer products.

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (May 19, 2005) – The Hasbro Properties Group (HPG), the intellectual property development arm of Hasbro, Inc. (NYSE: HAS), intends to license its popular TRANSFORMERS brand to IDW Publishing for the introduction of a new line of TRANSFORMERS comic books. Adding to the successful TRANSFORMERS comic book library that currently includes more than 30 titles, IDW will re-launch a much-anticipated new line of TRANSFORMERS comics. The first comic, a special introductory “0” issue, would debut in October 2005. The next comic in the series would debut in January 2006. The comic books are expected to include the classic Generation One (G1) storyline, as well as new plotlines and new series, and would be distributed to a wider audience through comic book outlets, trade bookstores and mass retailers.

“This year, the TRANSFORMERS property will gain greater exposure among both core supporters and new fans of the brand, as the comics are distributed at mass market for the first time,” said Tom Klusaritz, vice-president of global publishing for the Hasbro Properties Group. “We’re excited that IDW plans to publish the TRANSFORMERS comics, as well as expand upon the storyline by utilizing the best TRANSFORMERS writers and illustrators globally.”

IDW Publishing, the publishing arm of Idea and Design Works, LLC, is the comic book licensee of several popular shows, such as CSI (CBS), 24 (FOX), and ANGEL (Fox). IDW is also home to successful adaptations of comics based on the Konami videogames Metal Gear Solid and Castlevania, and movie adaptations from Dawn of the Dead to Shaun of the Dead. In both 2004 and 2005, they were awarded Diamond Comics’ Gem Award for “Publisher of the Year.” For the TRANSFORMERS series, IDW plans on using a mix of well-known and up-and-coming illustrators, inkers and writers to bring the property to new heights.

“The TRANSFORMERS brand is a great addition to IDW’s line of licensed comic books, and we look forward to expanding on an extremely successful property and returning TRANSFORMERS comics to a still-anxious marketplace,” said Ted Adams, President/Publisher of IDW Publishing.

The first TRANSFORMERS comic books were introduced to fans of the toy line more than two decades ago. In 2002, HPG re-launched the TRANSFORMERS comic book series.

Hasbro Inc. have published the following press release regarding thier Earnings for 2004. What this could mean for the Transformers lines is anyones guess.

    Hasbro Provides Preliminary 2004 Results

PAWTUCKET, R.I.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 12, 2005--Hasbro, Inc. (NYSE: HAS) today announced that, based upon a preliminary projection of its full year results, it will report net revenue of approximately $3.0 billion compared to $3.1 billion last year. Based on this projected revenue decline, the Company expects diluted earnings per share to be approximately flat with last year's full year diluted earnings per share of $0.94. The 2003 earnings per share amount has been restated due to the required adoption of EITF 04-08 in the fourth quarter of 2004.

"Our top-line results are a reflection of a retail environment that was tougher in the fourth quarter than we expected, as well as a disappointing performance in parts of the U. S. Toys segment," said Alfred J. Verrecchia, Chief Executive Officer.

"However, as a result of our continued focus on managing expenses we expect to deliver earnings per share approximately flat with last year, despite the decline in revenue. Additionally, we took actions in the fourth quarter, primarily in the U. S. Toys segment, to reduce our expenses going forward and position us more favorably in the fastest growing areas of our business," Verrecchia concluded.

David Hargreaves, Chief Financial Officer commented further, "The balance sheet continues to strengthen and we will exceed our stated goal of delivering cash flow from operations, less capital expenditures, or free cash flow of $250 million. In addition, as a result of both higher cash on hand and lower debt, we will end the year with significant cash, net of debt - something we have not achieved since 1997."

The expected earnings per share results in 2004 include aggregate pre-tax charges of approximately $25 million related to the Company's licensing agreement with Disney, a non-cash charge related to a decline in the value of the Company's investment in Infogrames Entertainment SA and severance costs related to a reduction in headcount in December, primarily in the U.S. Toys segment. In 2003 the Company had pre-tax charges in the fourth quarter aggregating approximately $32 million, composed of severance payments related to the cessation of toy manufacturing operations at our Valencia, Spain facility and lease obligations and severance for employees of the Wizards of the Coast retail stores.

The Company will be providing its full year results on its web cast on Monday, February 7th at 9:00 a.m. EST. Investors and the media are invited to listen at http://www.hasbro.com (select "Corporate Info" from the home page, click on "Investor Information," and then click on the web cast microphone).

Hasbro is a worldwide leader in children's and family leisure time entertainment products and services, including the design, manufacture and marketing of games and toys ranging from traditional to high-tech. Both internationally and in the U.S., its PLAYSKOOL, TONKA, MILTON BRADLEY, PARKER BROTHERS, TIGER, and WIZARDS OF THE COAST brands and products provide the highest quality and most recognizable play experiences in the world.

Specific factors that might cause such a difference include, but are not limited to: the Company's ability to manufacture, source and ship new and continuing products on a timely basis and the acceptance of those products by customers and consumers at prices that will be sufficient to profitably recover development, manufacturing, marketing, royalty and other costs of products; economic and public health conditions, including factors which impact the retail market or the Company's ability to manufacture and deliver products, higher fuel and commodity prices, higher transportation costs and potential transportation delays, currency fluctuations and government regulation and other conditions in the various markets in which the Company operates throughout the world; the concentration of the Company's customers; the inventory policies of retailers, including the concentration of the Company's revenues in the second half and fourth quarter of the year, together with increased reliance by retailers on quick response inventory management techniques, which increases the risk of underproduction of popular items, overproduction of less popular items and failure to achieve tight and compressed shipping schedules; work stoppages, slowdowns or strikes, which may impact the Company's ability to manufacture or deliver product; the bankruptcy or other lack of success of one of the Company's significant retailers which could negatively impact the Company's revenues or bad debt exposure; the impact of competition on revenues, margins and other aspects of the Company's business, including the ability to secure, maintain and renew popular licenses and the ability to attract and retain talented employees in a competitive environment; market conditions, third party actions or approvals and the impact of competition that could delay or increase the cost of implementation of the Company's consolidation programs or alter the Company's actions and reduce actual results; the risk that anticipated benefits of acquisitions may not occur or be delayed or reduced in their realization; and other risks and uncertainties as may be detailed from time to time in the Company's public announcements and SEC filings. The Company undertakes no obligation to make any revisions to the forward-looking statements contained in this release or to update them to reflect events or circumstances occurring after the date of this release.

This presentation refers to a non-GAAP financial measure as defined under SEC rules, specifically free cash flow. Free cash flow represents cash flow from operations less capital expenditures. Management believes that free cash flow is one of the appropriate measures for evaluating the performance of the Company because it provides a measure of resources which may be available for strategic opportunities including, among others, to invest in the business, strengthen the balance sheet, and make strategic acquisitions. However, the Company has other demands on its free cash flow which are not reflected in this measure and it should not be assumed that all free cash flow is available for strategic opportunities. This measure should be considered in addition to, not as a substitute for, or superior to, net earnings, cash flow from operating activities or other measures of financial performance prepared in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles as more fully discussed in the Company's financial statements and filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission. As used herein, "GAAP" refers to accounting principles generally accepted in the United States
