More than likely he upgrades his look mid-film, so they'd have to keep the old truck around. What has me curious is that "Classic Optimus" style truck (sorry, don't know what type of truck that is ) that's all rusted over and what kind of role it has to play. Autobot? Decepticon? G1 reference for the sake of continuity porn?

Since Baybots rarely look like their G1 counterparts, what if the black Lambo is Hot Rod? Give him a G1-esque face like Prime amd I'd be happy.

I also noticed that the trailered Prime has clipped smokestacks for some reason

They are probably removed for shipping purposes, to clear bridges and power-lines, and will be reinstalled upon arrival of where ever they are headed.

If not, I don't think that is an Optimus Prime prior to the Peterbuilt version since didn't he land in protoform in the first movie and then scan the truck that was on the hill? I will have to watch the first movie again to verify but I think that is the case.

You are correct, by new truck I was referring to the Western Star custom revealed a couple of weeks ago.
I think the trailered op and bee are most likely going to sone promotional event, as others have said, rather than being filmed as a flashback or an opening sequence before the new vehicles are scanned

Ding ding! We have a winner!
It was stated in the article that both Bee and Prime were merely being shipped for the grand opening of the new TF ride. As previously stated his stacks were removed for shipping purposes

So then how did you come to this conclusion?
