All this week, Toys R Us will be having the following:
$9.99 Deluxes
$17.99 Voyagers
$39.99 Leaders
For the most part, it's the same, HOWEVER, if you buy $30 worth of Transformers, you get a $10 collectible gift card featuring Bumblebee on it!
You will have to do the mathematics on your own to determine whether getting $10 back is better than 20% off, but buying two Voyagers for $35.98 and getting $10 back, thereby making them really $25.98 is a really good deal.
Check if the prices are active in your neighborhood by going to http://www.toysrus.com , clicking the "Check local ads" button, and typing in your zip code.
Stay tuned to seibertron.com for all your Transformers related news!

So Voyagers aren't on sale at Target? Damn. I was hoping to pick up Ironhide and Stabby Mcwheelfeet in one fell swoop. Ah well, if Voyagers aren't on sale at Target I guess I'll settle for Ironhide, Starscream, and The Fallen at TRU. More money then I was hoping to spend, but what can you do?

The Voyagers at Target is $17.59 with the 20% of coupon when you buy four TF items.
I've been wondering if the TF M&Ms work for this. Hmmmm?
I'm headed to Target here in a few to get a sales price match for the ones I bought
last week with just the 20% off coupon.

I stumbled onto this sale by accident when I picked up the TRU exclusive 2-pack yesterday. The $10 card is pretty cool. It is a lenticular design with 2 images of Bumblebee in robot mode, one in vehicle mode, and the ROTF logo. I'll probably use it for my next purchase, but then hold onto it for the collector value.

so this is kind of odd, and you may run into this too.
So i went to the TRU by my office, grabbed a voyager fallen and starscream (dont know why him), and took him to the counter, where the manager, or omega !@#$% was on the phone. she rang them up, and i asked her about the gift card. she said it needed to be over 30. i said they are over 30, and she said no, the subtotal right now is 26 something. and i was like uhh.... ok. so i went and grabbed another voyager, hoping that maybe they are only 14 or something, and she rang it up, rang up a giftcard as well, and said the total was like 56 or so. i thought for a second, but then she started gettin pissy, so i just went ahead and swiped it and decided i would figure it out later.
so, turns out, regular price voyager is 22.99, - $5 promo = 17.99, as displayed. So two 17.99's would have been over 30, but instead, what rang up, was 22.99 - $5 promo - $5 gift card, and at the end, there is an additional charge for a $10 gift card. It looks like, the way you get the "free" $10 gift card, is that they split the $10 discount among your purchases, and then add $10 at the end, along with the gift card.
so after the 3rd voyager that I got, it came out to be $22.99 - $5 - $3.34 for a $14.65 voyager.
so 3 voyagers + $10 gift card cost (before tax) = 53.97 + $10 gift card, so essentially $14.65 per voyager.
if it worked out the correct way, which should have been 2 voyagers at $17.99 + a $10 gift card at the end, then it should be $12.99 per voyager, because you wouldn't have needed to get a 3rd one to get over the $30 mark.
Not sure if anyone follows that, it's a bit complicated, and I'm hoping that the TRU near you doesn't do that, but at a $1.66 difference per, i dont want to see her again.
anyone else run into this problem? I wanted to pick up a leader, but I'm worried that if this problem happens again, the leader will be $29.99, with the way the gift-card is applied, and thus reducing the % savings. I also did not get a bumblebee gift card, but like i said, i didn't want to die in a toy store.

It's times like this that I'm glad I live in the boonies
where there's no TRU's and only Targets to deal with...
less hassle.

Flamewavex, absolutely no problems like that at my TRU. I've bought single Leaders and pairs of Voyagers multiple times to get the gift card with each. In fact I've asked them to ring the items up separately so I can maximize the amount of gift cards I got. Yes, the receipt shows the totals as you described. But your cashier was refusing to give you the gift card of her own volition even though the receipt would have clearly said it was part of your total purchase at that point. My two Voyagers have the -$5 on them and then the $10 gift card on the bottom. That's a smart way for them to do it, because you might want to return the Voyagers then and this way they can't accidentally give you back the full $18 for them and let you keep the gift card, which would be ripping them off.

I'd scan my receipt, but after all is said and done, I ended up paying a little over $6 each for a pair of Deluxes and $12 for a Voyager, among other really low prices yesterday.

Not sure what happened with your deal, flamewavex. They should ring up a $10 giftcard charge, but then subtract it on your receipt...and then you should physically get a $10 giftcard good for your next purchase. So two voyagers should have rung up 35.98 and then you should have gotten a $10 gift card with that. Doesn't sound like they did it right with your purchase.
Earlier this week I bought a HA Bumblebee and got a gift card with it...went back yesterday and bought a leader for 29.99 after the gift card was applied, but since the gift card is "like" cash, my purchase was considered > $30 so I got another gift card with that purchase!

yea, my woman was crazy. I went back there yesterday, and picked up HA bumblebee just fine, got the $10 gift card no problems, and then I used it on a leader prime, and got the gift card for that too.
I have a feeling today is the last day of the sale, so I gotta get over to another TRU to pick up leader megs soon. Doesn't sound like anyone else has run into that kind of problem, which is good to hear.

Sale has ended. I... missed out on it.
Oh well, I have a lot of what I want anyway. Now I can save up some more till the next wave of new figures pours in along with a new sale.

flamewavex, Yeah, your cashier was an idiot. I got a cashier like that when I tried to return some toys after I figured out how the promo works and wanted to make sure I only got what I wanted and maximized the value. keep in mind the Toys R Us Transformers gift cards have to be used by AUGUST 31 2009 or they're worthless, so use them fast or say goodbye to your hard-earned dollars.
What happened with me is, after successfully returning several toys in Columbia, Md, I visited the Catonsville MD store to return a couple more things, including the Transformers Chess Set which I had seen got horrible reviews. The lady at customer service asked if I had the gift card and I explained to her that the other store told me I was supposed to keep it--I had in fact tried to return a gift card there with the toys I bought on that receipt and they wouldn't return it, and I got all my money back except the $10 I paid for the gift card. Anyway in Catonsville the lady was convinced I somehow got the gift card free, despite that the receipt clearly shows a $10 charge for it, and the amount of the refund I would get if I returned all the toys would still be $10 short of the charge to my credit card. Of course I had used another gift card to make that purchase so she claimed that I paid the $10 with a free gift card from a previous transaction. Exasperated, I tried to show her the breakdown and that every gift card is paid for no matter what because of the way the promo works, and that while she was welcome to try processing a return on the gift card for me, and I'd be happy to oblige to get my $10 back, it wouldn't work. She kept insisting I had to give the gift card back, without getting any money back, because it was free.
After waiting 15 minutes for her to help other customers and trying to explain basic math to her three times, I gave up and proceeded to tell her how ridiculous she was being and that she could go to the opposite of heaven while I returned the toys in Columbia. I then went to Columbia, and returned all the toys without any questions, comments, or problems whatsoever, and filed a complaint at the Toys R Us website. I will now be returning all the remaining toys I bought except the three I wanted most. And I will never, ever, ever buy on a similar Toys R Us promo again. Target's promo was much better--paying less dollars up front is far smarter than taking on unsecured debt with an expiration date. (Yes, gift cards are unsecured debt, and if companies go bankrupt, you go poor. That's why I would never in my life advise anyone to directly purchase a gift card of any kind.)
