We also have additional images from Toy-People of the deluxes from Transformers: The Last Knight that have yet to be released: Crosshairs and Bumblebee. Dragonstorm can be found there too. There is also a great group shot of the Autobot team from Transformers the Last Knight. Say what you want about this toy line but those sure are some pretty bots.

Seeing a thin Megatron with no arm cannon is just really weird.

Very very mixed feelings with this one. The new torso bot is great! Skulk is genuinely really fun to hold and play around with. He can pose really well (sort of weird, but still really well) and the molding and detail is fantastic! If you just had him, the combined mode would hold all kinds of promises!
But then come the limbs. I am not joking when I say these limbs (I already own Abominus, so I have experience with them) are the worst quality figures I own. The molds have to be dead for the limbs to be this awful.
Thrash (left arm): his head and front legs pop off when you open his chest and his armor pieces on his legs are so loose they slide by themselves and will not hold in place.
Rupture (right arm): his ball joints are pathetic. his wings fall off just standing in place. and his robot head joint is so stiff I am afraid to transform him into robot mode.
Gorge (left leg): his ball joints are so loose his beast and robot modes are useless. He will not stand. And the pegs won't work for combined mode, so he just flops around unless he is actually bearing weight equally on his head and feet.
Glug (right leg): worst of the lot. his beast mode head will not tab together, he is almost completely useless as a leg (the only reason he is working is because I have him very mistransformed and the combining system is much more secure on this one, more on that in a moment) and his ball joints are awful too.
The combining system is pretty good though for the legs. they now possess some clips on Skulks arms that peg in and hold the legs, which allows for the mistransformations that make the legs work better.
But still, I have to say avoid this figure. Skulk is great! But that is it. The limbs are of pitiful and painfully bad quality. Not worth the full price.
PS: Quintessa is cool, but she is so tiny!

I'm not surprised at all. Aside from the fact that Hasbro's quality control team seem to have disappeared from the face of the earth, most of the limb molds have all been flogged to death over the past few years.
Blight (Gorge) and Twinstrike (Thrash) have gotten off fairly light, only being used to make GO! Burara and Garara respectively, before this, however, Rippersnapper (Glug) was also used to make Predacons Rising Cindersaur, Go! Jurara, AOE Grimlock, TF 2014 Grimlock and TLK Grimlock and Windrazor (Rupture) was also used to make Prime Divebomb, Go! Barara, and TF 2014 Strafe.
All in all, it's a miracle that most of them came out even semi- functional.

As for Infernocus: I am disappointed that it was so sub-par, I really felt the figure was just too skinny when compared to his movie counterpart overall. I might still try to get it, but I want to snag all the Megatron stuff first from this film along with working on the rest of my Decepticons in my collection.
That said, I particularly want to snag the Megatron voice changing gimmick mask due to reasons. Don't look at me like that.

As for Infernocus, thanks for the warning DMaximus. I was thinking of getting him but if he's that much of a QC shambles I'll avoid him. A shame as he looks pretty cool.
Posted by Quantum Surge on August 17th, 2017 @ 2:15pm CDT
Crosshairs looks good, but I'm wondering if I should keep my AOE one or sell it; still wish that TLK version has more paint.
Couldn't get into Dragonstorm too much. It would be neat to have him, but I'm fine without him (until I make a stop motion series of 2007-2011 Movie TFs vs 2014-2017 tfs).
Cogman looks brilliant. The car mode may use silver paint, but I just love the way he looks. Plus he'd be great at trolling people that look around with my Lego minifigs.
Infernocus looks neat, but the QC issues turn me off a bit, especially Glug. Maybe if we get a knockoff version, then I'd be down for it. Otherwise, I'd wait for clearance.

Kind of sad when "I'll wait for a knockoff" is actually a valid course action for someone wanting a better-QC version of a toy. (I know you probably meant it more as waiting for an upscale, but honestly it made me realise that one of the 'well-known' KO companies is probably going to do this toy all-around objectively better than what Hasbro managed to do.)

I was looking forward to having fun with the figure, but the transformation is a pain in the ass. Took all the fun out of it. I like both modes, but I don't think I'll be taking this figure off the shelf often. Definitely not worth $50. Good thing that I got it to display next to AoE leader Prime, since the TLK leader Prime isn't screen accurate, thus not worth$50 either. Hasbro seriously dropped the ball with both these figures. And would it be too much to ask for instructions with a little more color in them? Half the time I couldn't see what I needed to do.
A veeeeeeeery intelligent and relevant post RP! Wtf is Hb's consumer department doing? Do they even read of inspect their finished product and it's inserts? As for the toyline, well it shouldn't come as a surprise though. This is the Bayverse based design.

Though Takara's is slightly better, the B and W images are just as helpful as a mole rat.

And I just wanted to how something cool about the deluxe. Its not a movie design, at least not to me. With the use of a generations megatron mold and the face having a more traditional design, this feels a lot like a "classics" version of a movie design.
Kinda like the reverse of ROTF Bludgeon (where a classics style figure ends up in a movie line) which ends up having a very similar effect.

Speaking of which, I forgot to mention 1 more problem I have with it: there's no red streak on his face, like he had in the movie. I figured the leader was big enough to have that detail.
And I would like to see a comparison shot of the 2007 movie Megatron and TLK Megatron in jet mode. Doesn't matter if leader or voyager, but prefer leader.

The truck mode is kinda cool. Not a huge fan of the transformation and even less so of the bot mode. It really makes me appreciate Megatron more. But alas, I think I'm just in for deluxe hot rod and that's probably it for me and movie figures.

Just for you, Rodimus Prime.
That '07 Megs is a nightmare to figure out because the vehicle mode is just so... random. How the hell can we know by instinct what go where? Anyway, first and foremost...

Getting REALLY tired of your shit, Hasbro. Notice that one small tailfin is just not there. One more QC issue, one more toy to return. Jesus F Christ.

Anyway, Comparisons. Although TLK jet take more surface area, '07 is MUCH more heavy and massive looking. It's also a very alien design that is not aerodynamic at all. '07 Megs also don't give a crap, covering his face with just a tiny panel. Bet the Prime design was base on that one. TLK is MUCH more streamlined and logical as a flying vehicle.
Enjoy these shots:

I improvised a flight stand for '07 Megs. Because he's NOT returning into robot mode for a while.

And now, to put back TLK Megs into bot mode, put him back into the box, and exchanging him at TrU tomorrow.

The plastic feel SO cheap, like some bad KO. Also, kibble and bits that fly off everywhere when transforming that constantly need to be put back in. The arm canon gimmick is a minor annoyance too.
But the overall quality is so horrible, I just can't forgive that toy. ESPECIALLY FOR THAT PRICE.
So I'm not exchanging him for another one at TrU. I'll be asking for a FULL REFUND and with the money, I'll just buy TR Leader Overlord at Walmart.
I'll give that leader another chance only if I find him at 20$ at Winners.
Screw you, cheapo TLK Leader Megs.

Posted by EunuchRon on August 19th, 2017 @ 9:02pm CDT
I don't feel much love for Leader Optimus, though... man, he looks horrible with the truckpack kibble. I haven't liked him since AoE, so.... I'm getting this guy instead!

Wasn't going to get the Western Star pattern at all, but this guy just looks incredible, and I love big sheilds and axes and stuff, and I had to get SOMEONE to go against Leader Megs. Probably my last movie line figure, too, unless they do something reallllly spectacular for the next one.
Posted by Quantum Surge on August 19th, 2017 @ 9:29pm CDT
Figures I'd like but would live without: Dinobot repaints, Squeeks (getting Tiny Turbo Changer), Steelbane & Skullitron (QC issues), all the leaders, and Infernocus (waiting for KO or discount prices).
Problem is that with college approaching, I'm probably going to have to miss out on most of them. It also hurts when the Walmart closest to me sucks with its stock; like I said, all Grimlocks and Slashes, barely anything else from Wave 1, and no sign of Voyager Prime for fans who want him. Then there's other things I want to get (old TFs on eBay, Justice League 6" figures, Marvel Legends MCU Spidey) that could stop me from getting what I want. Hopefully, I can get some assistance from friends and relatives, and what I'd add with my optimism on obtaining what I want is a bit of Energon and a lot of luck.
Posted by Rodimus Prime on August 19th, 2017 @ 10:14pm CDT

I bought TLK voyager Prime to go with AoE voyager Galvatron, since AoE had only Evasion Mode Prime in voyager class and no leader Galvatron, which I would have loved, and it would have been so easy. All they had to do was enlarge the voyager mold. It might have been cheap, but at least we would have had a figure. Now I have to put AoE leader Prime with TLK leader Megatron.

That Voyager Prime is actually a redeco of the DotM Voyager:

Transformers Dark of the Moon Optimus Prime Gallery
He's part of the Reveal the Shield subline, with a gimmick similar to the Tech Spec decoders of G1. If the clear red weapon is held over the dot pattern of the toy, you can see the hidden image.

Ask and you shall receive.
It's an exclusive in limited TrU stores. So you should get him but only if you really want him. It's not the best voyager Optimus mold. And unless you are tight on money, get the regular TLK voyager Optimus Prime or even the SDCC version at Hasbro Toy shop (if you live in the USA). The new TLK voyager Optimus is a fantastic mold.

We will start off with this: all 4 of the TLK voyagers post wave 1 are in contention for figure of the year for me.
2nd thing: Scorn and Nitro amusingly transform somewhat similar: split the crotch, the arms go wonky ALA Beast Wars Megatron, and the legs plus in, and the rest sort of wraps it up.
Scorn is the best dinobot of the movie franchise. He beats his deluxe version, which was the best already, by a long shot. I love the paintwork (premium feel really on the dino parts) and the spiky nature is so sweet. And he is dense and huge and I love him. He feels better than Sludge from AoE, and that was the only voyager dinobot I got. His transformation is lots of fun, and the mode mode is imposing. The only detriment is lack of an accessory, like a sword or something, but the posable tail/lance arm is still really good. Oh and both dino and robo heads are sweet. Highly recommended. Best Dinobot in AGES.
Nitro Zeus is also really good, and at the moment is my pick for figure of the year, just beating out voyager Megs. His transformation is slightly hard the first time, but after you get it that first time, it is a breeze! it is wonky and fun and he has lots of guns! (poetry, my dear friends). His left arm has that big gun that is his jet mode thruster, and the right arm is his entire jet mode cockpit and nose. And the cockpit is still fully titan master compatible, being the power source of a giant shield/crossbow thingy. Thunderwing from the siege set will be so comfortable there! He works in every way possible! And then there are miniguns on his shoulders. The head is killer, the detail is killer, and i love the wings becoming giant thrusters/cannons/missile racks. And the tail fins are really not that bad, they sort of just go with his bulk and fun.
Overall: buy both. The only TLK voyager you should really ignore is Grimlock. Buy everything else, especially waves 2 and 3, on sight

This is the second time I've heard of this happening. I ordered mine from Hobby Link Japan just in case, since that's where I heard someone else got one of these in the box, forget who, he was on a vid review... and I got one too! There's nothing on the box about it or in the instructions so I think Takara might have goofed at the factory?

Maybe HLJ bought up enough Calibur Optimus Primes from the stores to get a Gold Vector Shield for each one. The shield itself is a separate, store-exclusive campaign item that comes free with a certain quantity of TF products purchased, so HLJ could have bought up enough stock from the stores to get the shields to go with the figures.EunuchRon wrote:I just got my Calibur Optimus, and he came with this tucked inside the package!

Nitro Zeus' transformation does neat things but isn't very fun -- kinda like Long Haul or Rampage, I suppose, but with more vehicle parts usage. NZ's robot and jet modes are pretty boss, though.

First up, Hound!

...I love this guy. Easily one of my new favorites. His bot mode just looks so good, all the paint on him and the sculpting are awesome, and there's so much poseability. I like how they did the feet, really clever. I would prefer if they did it in a more movie accurate way, but it would probably be impossible at that size, so I'll give it a pass.

He just oozes character. Only things I'd change would be to change some joints to screws so they can be tightened when necessary, and give him more guns. I'd use the AoE guns (believe me, I'd love to and I'm so glad they made that a feature) but I don't have that Hound.

Vehicle mode is good too. Lacking in paint, sure, but does what it's supposed to and looks good doing it. Transformation is fun, but it has some clearance issues.
Now for Megs!

This is the guy I was waiting for, and wow. Definitely lived up to expectations, another new favorite. I loved this design in the movie, and I really hope they don't change it moving forward. The toy captures the look really well, and overall I like it more than the leader version. The only things I'd really change are minor things.
-Wrist swivel and pivot (because sword-wielders should always have those)
-Slightly larger cannon, with a stronger joint for the tip
-Tilting/rotating sword peg on the back
-More rounded battle skirt
-Adjustable horns
Add all that and he'd be flawless, but without those he's still pretty great.

And you can still get him in some really cool action poses.

Looks great with Prime, too!

Jet mode, while not as imposing as that of the leader, is also great. Good size, and the transformation is fun once you get the hang on of it. I just wish the wings/legs and the arms tabbed in a bit more securely.
Overall, love 'em both. Highly recommended.
