I still dont get how any of this matters to anyone. The Bumblebee movie proved that you can still make a film everyone will enjoy without needing a complete reboot. You can still have humans, still have the military, and even have bayverse faces and its ok.

Wait what? A follow up to The Last Knight? :O I thought I was done with looking forward to new movies after that stupid Bumblebee mess pretty much confused everyone into whether it was a reboot or not (and if it's not then it still makes a mess of everything with it's G1-inspired cybertron stuff and other contradictions). Do I finally have a reason to look forward to actually going to cinema again or is someone just messing with my head. I enjoyed TLK though my fave movie is Age of Extinction for so many reasons. I'm feeling very confused and unsure whether to get my hopes up or whether there's some mix up and I'm not getting a TF6 after all. I just wanna see more of my fave Optimus and co.
I gonna go try sleep now cos i feel rough as hell all day and had major anxiety attack too but the thought of my Bayverse TFs possibly returning has cheered me up a bit and I gonna leave before more negatory stuffs like what i already seen happen above in this thread.. bleh.. . Have a good weekend.

I have anxiety, depression and aspergers syndrome so my behaviour can be erratic. I don't mean offense to anyone. Just very picky about my Transformers collecting. You're all cool!
Likes: Bayverse, Marvel UK G1, Geoff Senior art, '86 movie (more for style/soundtrack rather than Star Wars plot)
Dislikes: Bumblebee movie (lousy rehashed dumb crud), TFA, G1 cartoon, IDW G1, BW/BM, MP. The entire concept of Autobot Megatron

Bashing on picky fans aside, I wouldn't mind a movie that is 100% CGI where the action is purely on Cybertron with no humans at all. Especially for a movie that depict the start of the Cybertronian civil war. We would then explore the rise of Megatron and Optimus Prime.
Another (maybe full CGI) movie I want to see is a Beast Wars movie. The Beasts in the Bayverse on prehistoric Earth. I want to see that.

I would absolutely see that movie.

If future movies can maintain the level of basic filmmaking competency that the Bumblebee movie brought, I guess that’s fine.
Just a shame that there’s no definitive fresh start that an actual reboot brings.

This site seems to lean heavily into Bayverse support.
Building on the terrible foundation of the Bayverse will result in an utter collapse of the TF movie franchise. By not starting fresh and ignoring the power of nostalgia the next movie may be the last. Instead of starting a cinematic universe, they'll choke it to death.
Good luck with that ****...

Yes, the G1 cartoon had silly episodes. It churned out a lot of ideas to fill out episodes, and a lot of those were bad/stock 80s (especially season 2). It was made on a dodgy budget and it doesn’t always look good.
Transformers 1-5 are still terrible and a waste of the Transformers.

We can appreciate what the movies did for the franchise and still think that they're all piles of steaming hot garbage (except Bumblebee). The two aren't mutually exclusive.

Bee movie sequel: not being a reboot kills a lot of enthusiasm, but I'll still check it out.
TLK sequel: are you **** kidding me? Maybe a sequel to DotM, but AoE and TLK were such incredibly bad shitstorms there is literally no way to save that end of the franchise. The best writer in the world couldn't fix that.
This is all sad news.

The 2007 movie was phenomenal. ROTF was acceptable. DOTM was bad. AoE was disapointing. TLK was trash. Then, Bee movie turn back the clock and brought back greatness. Let's hope the downward spiral won't repeat itself.
At least the movies brought something amazing and it was new design styles and engineering for the toys. Now if the movies can remain as good as 2007 and Bee, we are in for something awesome down the line.

Ha, there is no extra info that would help. The Bee movie came out and everyone involved in making it stated very clearly that it was a prequel and that not everything needed to match up perfectly since it never did anyway.
And still, we have people using the word reboot. In any case, to answer your question, the word reboot was only ever used by fans wishing the bayverse was dead. Any official word coming from paramount is that Bumblebee is a stand alone film within the live action tf franchise. And yes, it can spawn off more stories, there is a sequel being done. But still, no reboot.
