I mean no offense to you NuclearConvoy, this observation was addressed to all people out there who keep on dissing the line, I stand corrected to have to re-phrase from your input.

It will all boil down to personal preference but just give the line a chance.

It isn't the first time that the japanese version tend to suck (not always) but more often than not is presented better.

Superlink had brighter colors but no batteries (suck)

Grand Convoy was obese (and no electronics) (also sucked) but had IMHO better colors

Sonic Bomber a mishapened visor (suck)

Now we have an opportunity to own "improved(okay that is a matter of opinion) versions, some imperfections corrected though Grimlock in this case won't lock up properly thanks to the chrome.

We're gonna be expecting the Seekers,the Italian brothers and Galvatron among others, so it will be a good year for us collectors, just that, some may prefer the Henkei over the US so either give each line a chance or just say nothing at all.

After closely studying Henkei Skyfire, I noticed that his coloring is more closely connected to the Cartoon version.

Yeah, thats what I was talking about it even has the gun Skyfire had on the show. This figure has been designed for the fans who have wanted a Skyfire toy for the last 20 years. Here are a couple of pics to compare it to the G1 episode "Fire in the sky":

...of course, let's be honest. The animation in the original series isn't exactly famed for consistency and attention to detail.

Thanks to both Stormrider and Trikeboy...
Comparison shots are definitely appreciated.
Looks like I'll be getting both of these.

I really like that Ramjet has those grays, and not black.
The less contrasty look is awesome, and I like the red wings.

And even though I'm not a huge fan of Jetfire,
that version is awesome.
Looks like I'll have my first one.

No probs. Glad I could help. For the record, I will be buying Skyfire despite owning Jetfire. To me they are different characters, even though Skyfire was only created to avoid a lawsuit, so both will be welcome.

For me, these two just aren't different enough from the originals to consider replacing my Classics versions. I do like the new consistency for Ramjet's chest but my Thrust and Dirge have the little coloured squares on the side of their boobs so Ramjet keeping his isn't going to bother me. Neither do my Skywarp, Thundercracker, Dirge and Thrust have con symbols on them so that's another reason to leave Ramjet.

So I'll be leaving these guys in China and sticking with my Classics. Hot Rod too will be skipped as the Classics one looks just fine. I really want to see Henkei Sunstreaker and Prowl soon though so I can make an informed decision on which to purchase.

From Henkei I don’t own a single toy, but I do own most of classics.

Now I think most of the Henkei figures look superior to their Hasbro counterparts, but I wont be buying many Henkei figures because they don’t look different enough from what I already own, simple as that. But for the figures I don’t own, I’ll be buying the Henkei versions.

To me, it seems almost like some people get it in their heads this line is intended to be an classics upgrade, but in reality its not that at all. Its simply Takara Tomy bringing the line to Japan for the convenience of those fans, so that way they don’t have to import them from the US.

Argh, I really love that Skyfire. They even gave him a red visor on his helmet, like the G1 toy. Now I wish I'd waited for this guy instead of the Classics one. Classics Jetfire is nice too though.

Actually, I just love this figure, whatever the colours! Had to stop myself from impulse buying a Botcon Dreadwind off E-bay, just because I love this mold so much.

Thanks for the post, CP! I also find myself shocked at liking the Hasbro Jetfire more.

I recently lost one of the blue missiles from Classics Jetfire. He is one of my favorite figures and I am bummed.

Do you guys think I could get these figures on ebay for cheaper than what's listed at BBTS?

I won both Prime and Megatron for under $40 each, and it was definitely cheaper due to the fact that I won 4 items from the same seller.

Part of me thinks I should go ahead and preorder a Skyfire.
