Don't expect any changes to the existing armor set.

OS removed the option from the Admin panel, so I can't even look at the stats for the armor, and as far as the armor is concerned, I think Mkall is more interested in revamping the system altogether than tweaking the current one.

Weapon: Dual Laser Beam Rifle
That's interesting.

Also good..it needs some fine tuning.

If he should do this then there should be armour for every level and it shouldn't be so.....erratic in its effectiveness.

every programmer seems more inclined to "total revamps" rather than tweaking, but none the less, tweaking is alot easier to do, and is hardly ever as controversial.

Okay then...
Fix it.

I also propose the name "Pretender Shell" as one of the new armours to fill the gaps.

I vote to nix both the Rank 10 names there. Remember, Optimus Prime had Rank 10, and he was killed with the laser pistol. Gutcruncher had Rank 10, and I'm pretty sure he wouldn't be as resilient as the monster planet. I think "Apex Armour" and "Power Chip-Enchanced Armour" might work.

Well, that sounds promising. We've most of the damage formulae worked out, I could bash out the maths for armour if you wanted, but I have no idea how it would work with brawling as of yet.

"Matrix Armor" was inspired by the last level of the TF Armada PS2 game.

"Unicron Armor" was from Megatron's form at the beginning of TF Cybertron.

The uber-minicon thing? I think it's obscure enough that most people will simply assume it's to do with the Matrix of Leadership.

Bollocks that. I use my own personal canon (which I once posted though it's doubtlessly been lost to the wipes) which ignores large portions of the cartoons and tends to focus more on the comic canon.

Apex armour hands down, afterall it's G1 yet obscure, and you can't have apex armour be anything but the apex of the armours.

so mkall, just give me a hollah when you want to know which bit to change and how.

armor is in need of a tweek, but my question is should we make weapon types do more or less damage to different armor types as the armor is getting fixed. as with today, most armors are made for certain defence, some can reflect light, mater, heat, and all kinds of radiation, noise and stress at different lvls. i am not saying turn it into tin foil, but different damage types should do different damage to every armor,+ or - 10% or such from weapons base damage lvl. or something.

some basic armors

Reflective=works well against light, heat and radiation.
Reactive= C4 placed in bundles on top of installed armor. this could be a extra armor added over a armor for a extra 1 hit safety ,like it is today,or a standard basic armor.

Armour is quite the cunundrum been running a few tests on my own. All I can say so far is that it seem's quite unbalanced as 5 tons of iron seemed to be as good as one ton of nucleonic tempered steel. Just upgraded the test subject to two tons and in his first misson a level 2 bot was 25% away from stasis as opose to my 59k xp level one con.

Have you read the dictionary yet?

apex noun (apexes or apices) 1 the highest point or tip. 2 geom the highest point of a plane or solid figure relative to some line or plane. 3 a climax or pinnacle. See also apical.
ETYMOLOGY: 17c: Latin, meaning 'peak'.

[Spoilers and stuff!]

Yes, actually. Sentinel Prime gets turned into a poopy paste by Megatron. You know, that guy with maxed out tech specs who lead an entire faction of millions of years? Makes a bit more sense when you bear that in mind. :P

Fusion Canon > Apex Armor.

But what is it the Apex of? You assume that it represents the Apex of Armors, but perhaps it is the Apex of Cybertronian Technology, in which case quasi-mystical or alien armors could potentially exceed it.

apex armour, the apex of armours, not exactly difficult concept to grasp here, if you leave of the fanwank for all of 2 minutes.

EDIT: and slip the order of armour's effectivness is listed in the first post.

So the variance in damage i'm seeing is most likely based on the varrying builds i'm faceing then not type per tons of armour. Guess what i'm really working on is when rank becomes of value in the xp range versus going with iron and dumping into strenght. for example 5 ton of iron versus two ton of U238. Feel free to correct me on that or suggest what might work in application not just high to low scale
Thank again for your work by the way

Lots of people wrote:A bunch of stuff.

Possible answers, depending on your canon:

IDW - It's the apex of the technology developed by the police force which evolved to become the Autobots. Real world analogue? Police don't use the best armour the world has developed. Any PSNI man can tell you that.

G1 cartoons - The apex of Autobot technology. Now, the Autobots weren't a war-minded bunch. Especially not when it came to direct assaults. I see those Autobots more like that country in the film "The Mouse That Roared". Real world analogue? The Swiss guards. Armed and armoured, but not for total war.

Jeep's personal canon, which under OS would have been game canon (curse you!) - Apex armour is a name given to a model of personal assault armour, much like Lockheed & Martin's "Trident" MIRV isn't actually trident-shaped. 'Apex' here is the official branded name of the armour pattern. Real world analogue would be pretty much every piece of military hardware produced by private companies.

So yeah, the name 'apex' means little. Though I still think it should be a Rank 10 armour, purely based on its history of use - anyone on record using it has been a high-ranking individual.
