is courage actually having an affect?

Postby Tammuz » Fri Feb 09, 2007 8:49 am

SWUK's been certain for a long time that courage is having nigh on no effect, and at first i was very skeptical, but this mission really got me questioning if courage works, or at least works the way we think it does. Hexwing has 8 crg and makes 8 attacks, Gearhead has 5 and he makes 8 attacks, Wheelie has 6 and makes 9 attacks, and finally Ion Trail also has 8 crg and makes 5.

I've been wondering the same thing. I have two bots with 5 courage and the rest have 6. The performance seems to be identical.

The RNG is obviously the dominant factor when deciding who moves when.

Could it be a speed thing i say this cause iontrail has the lowest ammount of speed in comparison to the rest of the bots in that mission :-?

Could be, my low speed guys tend to attack less often than my higher speed guys regardless of courage. :-?

I'm thinking it is a combination of speed and courage. I've had no luck at all doing just one or the other.

i recall his words suggested that bot increased the chances of attacking, with courage giving a bigger boost, and speed a smaller boost.

Speaking as a Lvl 1 I notice a big difference between no courage and 1 courage, but not much between 1 to 3 courage.

I haven't upgraded higher than 3 courage yet.

At level 0, 1 and to a lesser extent 2, it is very easy to get by with little or no Courage. At level 3, I still find my higher Speed bots outperform my higher Courage bots.

I have often wondered just how much of an effect Courage is having, having noticed more than a few missions where the highest Courage bot got either the least or even no attacks.

i find that high levels, ir not equal levels of both results in quick attacking. however leaving one field to dominate the other, i.e 1 courage to 5 speed, does not produce a desired effect. just my musing!

ps intell doesnt work, i tried it, cost me 5 tons of ceramic to try it but meh, no im a non believer!

sorry, but what? the only thing it currently is listed as doing is unlocking certain tactics and going off my strafing shuttle and tank, intell defintely unlocked strafe for both of them, and being as i was the one who brought intel not feeding reapir glitch to Glyph's attention, and then making sure it got fixed, it most definetly does work.

like strength boosts ram or firepower boost strafe
intell is supposed to boost repair

Are you talking about Intell or Rank because intell dosen't affect how much or what kind of armor you wear.

I think what he was saying was that he tried a configuration with high INT and 5 STR, so when he reset he lost the 5 tons of armor that were on his Bot.
The opinions expressed in this post are well-reasoned and insightful.
Needless to say, they are not those of SEIBERTRON.COM, its staff members, or any other site lackeys.
Anyone who says otherwise is itching for a fight.

should have been more accurate with my postscript there. basically there was a thread there maybe a week ago in which someone boasted (and was backed up by several people) that intelligence was coming up with some interesting results, that their tfs were performing immensely. i reset to try intell, and found it changed little for me.
but nice to see theres always 5 people waiting to dissect anything anyone ever says and assumes and corrects instead of just asking me.
high five for the disillusioned for recognising what i actually meant.

might just want to double check the code though glyph, i think it's glitched like intel was for feeding repair.

I'll check. From memory it's working in combination with SPD to determine the length of time between your moves (that can be upset by having someone stun you in between, of course). It might not be as pronounced as it used to be, simply because of the different approach to 'turns', and may need emphasising a little more.
