Weapon: Saber Blade
Here is a fairly "old" discussion for us who been here a while but some of the noobs in here may not understand quite yet. The scenario is Strafe vs. Ram. The set up is having two mechs at each level in this thread having the same corresponding stats. The stats can be any combination. The only catch is that the primary helping stat for ram which is strength and strafe which is firepower has to be even as well as ram and strafe. Basically lets say there are two mechs at Level 0 who has Str 2 Ram 2 and Fwr 2 Str 2. Who would win in an arena match? As the mechs get higher in the levels, the other stats will be the same like courage, endurance, and speed. Let the lively debate begin!!!!!!!!

Sumo, these days the rammer would most likely destroy the strafer in a 1 on 1.

Since Ram can stun an opponent with a lower strength and as strength is the feeder stat for ram (and the required stat for armour, and the damage stat from brawling,) it craps all over a strafe that requires firepower, leaving you just the option of a good weapon (most of which have been sold out for over a year) and no other offensive advatages.

Strafe needs to be at a decent level be effective and you need your average total strafing damage to be higher than your standard punch or its just not worth taking unless you hit a level 5+ to gain XP jackpot.

0: Rammer Wins
1: Rammer still wins
2: Rammer again
3: Closer, but id still say rammer...

Congrats, Netminder, my last mech hit the 500k mark yesterday. It is always good when mechs break a certain milestone. As for me, I am going back into temporary retirement until tourney time. I can't spend what littel energon I have left or I will be completely broke before tourney time. However, I'll still be in this thread and the Seibs RPG if that ever gets resurrected, again.

Question: What stat do you recommend that I upgrade next for Fire Convoy?

His current stats:

5 str
3 spd
3 fp
2 skl
5 ram

And btw, Decepticons, please don't tell me that I'm the only one that the snowstorm/blizzard has trapped at home in front of the comp and get into these missions!

Courage seems like the pretty obvious choice seeing as FC has none.

I would agree with Burn on the courage. One thing I am wondering though is what weapon you have. It looks like you have the setup for Battle blades. The only catch with those is the price. Personally, I think L2 is a little early to be wielding those around but if you can afford them, it might be an idea. In my case, I can't afford anything like that. I lived round by round of missions to see if I would be able to afford CR time let alone any nice weapons like those.

Firetruck huh? Not going for the repair option yet? Probably a good idea.

You're having energon problems? If so, you might want to look at your configs, what levels you're playing at, and what levels of missions you are entering. You and I are about the same experience-wise, and yet I always run an energon profit from day-to-day. It seems silly to just not play because of energon.

Yeah, keeping it as close to canon as possible.

And as for energon deficits, I've never had anything aside from buying weapons dent my energon supply, but then again, I play mostly 0-1, with only 3 lvl 2s.

that's becuase Deadboy left joining level 3 till rather late, but sumo went quite a bit earlier.

sumo, my advice is to drop the rocket launchers, vibro axes, and laser pistols, brawl till you can afford getting some Energon crossbows, Double barrel Plasma shell shot guns are a good weapon too.

ditch the high firepower strafers, once you get FP to 4, just load up on strafe, until fp becomes the cheaper of the two,

also the medics, really isn't a good idea unless you're gonna make them really intelligent, as most level 3s won't get high endurance allies on a regular basis, and without them your gonna hit a glass ceiling of about 30% repairs

I'm glad your back in the game man.

I mostly went with what weapons I had before I retired. There were some new ones I picked up but mostly for character aspect. As for any reset, I probably won't since my team are of the tournament alts. I tried splitting my repairers into repair\rammer but I see your point. I've actually got one of my repairers doing fairly frequent repairs but I think the most I seen was 15%. Maybe when I pop back in for the tourney I'll reset them once again and do better. As for my energon levels, I spent some on armor that I probably shouldn't have and went for some high missions like 3-7. I really didn't care because all I wanted was my team to be all above 500k which they are now.

the rocket launchers really are the pits; the recharge time is about 2 minutes so while they do do good damage when they hit, they take so long to fire that you'll get maybe 1 or 2 shots per battle, and end up brawling for the majority of the time, waiting for them to recharge, they are one of the slowest weapons in the game...

the new with a couple questions

Postby PEZ18 » Wed Feb 14, 2007 12:24 am

Hey fellas, new to the game. I have a grasp of the jest of the game and have just started to learn of its intracicies. I've been reading stuff about factions and belonging to certain groups, and I was wondering what that was all about. It may be posted somewhere, and if so just redirect me to proper thread. Also, check out my superhero themed squad.

My friend is also somewhat helping me and has shown me a few things I should be doing differently.

The groups aren't a needed thing in this game. Basically you have different commanders belonging to these organizations. They boil down to alliances based on faction or sometimes location. The big thing with just starting out is that you get luck of the Random Number Generator for most part. I did notice who your friend was on your profile and he does know a few things. The only thing I see that you did wrong was put an injured mech in a mission. There are those who do this especially if they are short on energon but it isn't always a wise thing to do.
