Ram or Repair: Inquiring Minds Want To Know

Postby QuietStorm » Wed Oct 31, 2007 2:46 pm

So recently, my character Killbison acquired the ability to Repair.

The reason that I did this was to find another way for him to utilize his unused XP without throwing him completely to the level 5 wolves. However, since I've done so I've been getting some less than stellar results. It's almost as if he doesn't know whether to ram or to repair. Granted, I've only been able to throw one point of Repair out there, but I do have 2 points in his Intel to help him.

Has anyone else experienced this phenomenon with other dual tactic characters? And how did you get them out of the jam and deal with this situation? Is there anything that I can do regarding this because I'm beginning to wonder if the Repair was a bad idea. I could reset him but then I'd have to wait another full 8 hours to reinstall his armor.

Thoughts? Questions? Comments? Concerns?

Word.

My teams medic, Phandtomrider, didn't do all that great moving from level 5 to level 6. Seems to me that I typicalls start out slow in the new level but I eventually start doing better.

Then again I just started looking at dual tactics again since I hadn't had a ram/repair or a strafe/avoid characters for a long time. I typically just stuck with ram.

Basically you need more. More of everything.

With one stat of repair and 2 of int, you are not gonna get much xp. Playing in missions with high lvls helps too.

yes, it was a bad idea.

Ram and repair work the same, except endurance's effect is reversed so 0str ram on 0endurance is the same as a 0int repair on 10endurance.

so if you're targets have 5 or more edurance you'll score bigger repairing them than ramming them IF your int and str are equal.

however with just 2 int he's not going to far very well at all, i mean would you consider building a 2str rammer at level 5? i doubt it

secondly if you've got a decent Non-tactic attack(blades, or high str brawling) you're tactics will have to do at least equal damage to be worth having at all

say your guy punches/kicks for 25% damage
he rams for 30%
and he repairs for 15%

now to maximise dammage output you want ram frequency as high as possible and your repair frequency as low as possible, make most of your attacks heavy, and minimise the number of light attacks you make.

what's the point of spending xp so that occiassionally rather than throwing out lots of damage, you repair a little damage?

and it gimps them for arena use.

I love medics, i've got 4, but you've got to commit lots of xp to make it worthwile.

Well, crud. Looks like someone's gonna get reset. Or is there any way that I can counter what I've put in? There isn't is there...so now instead of earning his standard 3k xp per mission average, I'm going to be getting that chopped in half. Dang.

nah not really quite that bad i mean 1 repair aint that high of a chance of repairing.

you've just got to invest lots of xp in intell, the mechanics are in the con forum if you want to work it out precisely.
