LOL, I went and double checked the date. It's today

Not your fault, you felt it safe given the date, question is, where the original posters in on the joke

The faces being hidden was a bit of a clue, really. Devcon deco with a Scourge face? Yeah

It is strange they've never done anything similar to the Seekers with the Datsuns or the Lambors. The mold variants all being grouped together in fiction.

As for the Devcon/Clampdown picture...I'll be honest, I'm still 50-50 on it being real or not. On one hand, the upload date is pretty damning, the Twitter that originally posted it was made yesterday and had a name that seemed suspiciously like a spoof on John Warden, the fact that they're hiding Devcon's face is sketch, and at least 1 leaker says it ain't real. On the other hand, leakers have been wrong before (including recently with Terrorsaur and Black Zarak), the Devcon kinda looks like it has a retooled lower torso compared to Scourge, I saw someone point out that Clampdown's arms are technically partially the wrong color (which a customizer wouldn't do, but an official Hasbro release absolutely would due to molding or to make Clampdown more visually different from Red Alert), and even if this particular photo is false, those characters could easily still be coming. For now, I'm just going to treat it as less of a "these characters are happening" and more of "they might look like this if they do happen", and if it is fake, oh well, I'm not attached enough to these two to be upset.

Given how SS86 started out (as planned for wfc) they'd be the only SS figures I'd expect to see in Selects. Its no different really from the planned Starscream in SS86 which is just an Earthrise retool.

Cynically I wouldn't be surprised if Starscream is just the ER figure with some modifications for the cape and crown, but I also wouldn't be surprised if the leaks are just assuming that's the case because the figures look so similar, but then end up not having any parts in common just like SS Bee movie Blitzwing and Starscream. We'll have to wait and see, I'm a little skeptical of it.

Even after having both in hand, Chug said that too. But by that logic, an apple is a heavy retool of an orange because both are round.
I have both and appart the overall look of the bot mode, there is not a single part nor engineering cues that are shared between the two.

Its an argument that can get very silly, very quickly. I just find it easier to say they're completely different otherwise you'd be trying to say that G2/RiD Smokescreen was retooled into Energon Screamer because of the transformation!
