Roberto Orci has said his goodbyes for himself and his writing partner Alex Kurtzman on Don Murphy's Message Board. With 104 days until the Transformers Movie opens, their work is about to finish. The following has been taken from Roberto Orci's post.

"Our involvement in Transformers is finally coming to an end. As such, this will be our last 48 hours on this forum. From now on, anything you want to say about Transformers will have to go through the official site if you want it to get to us.

Alex and Michael Bay and I have been re-writing and making the movie as good as it can be until the last possible minute. We are almost out of time. We think you are gonna like it.

Alex and I want to thank Don Murphy and Tom Desanto for having the original instinct that Transformers could be a live action ground breaker.

We especially want to thank everyone on this board, who informed and challenged our thinking all along the way, and who participated in a cutting edge experiment in fan interaction.

All the best,

Bob and Alex
".

I think it's great that they have been communicating with the fans. I can't wait to see the final product of the script. I enjoyed the rough draft from February 2006. It's what really turned me from having a few too many negative thoughts about the movie to really thinking this has the potential to be a big summer blockbuster. I still have my reservations about some of the robot designs ... but I think the storyline is pretty solid.

The storyline may turn out good, but the makers of this film are never going to be able to change my opinion as to the TFs' appearances.

I wish the best for the writers, though.

True, and I wanted to apologise to them. I was a rather harsh opinionated and I hate to admit, close minded person, to their writing on this film, but I don't have any vendetta towards them. I wish them the best of luck.

In the future, stay the f*** away from our childhoods. We wouldn't want any more of our favorite characters publicly raped in a similar fashion, would we?

So they have basically said they've been re-writting the script (i'm assuming the TF bits as everything else has been filmed) right up until the last possible minute, thus proving it was all still a work in progress, and people are condemning their work. And without even seeing the final product. Some of the people on this site truly make me ashamed to be a part of this fandom.

Even if you don't like what they churn out, at least they took the time to communicate as much as they could with the "fandom". :?

I can't say I think the script is solid. I don't think we needed another "how / why TF's got to Earth" story. You know, really, did we need yet another conflicting continuity. I'm glad they're gone, but the damage is just beginning.

Fanboys will never be satisfied. I'll be enjoying the movie while you are all bitching and moaning at 2 AM on chatboards to nobody but yourselves about how your childhood was "ruined" by the film. Throw in some anime porn and your night is complete.

"Your failure is now complete!"

Congrats on f'n over the majority of the original fan base. We will be sure to remind you regularly and even in 10 years when VH1 has a special on major movie fk ups and how you guys thought you were smarter than the fans. I can here it now....

This is one thread that there shouldn't have been any bashing.

They had the common courtesy to thank us TF fans on this board who gave constructive criticisms. That is something I have yet to see from Bay or Murphy and, yet, some of you are posting to this thread as though it is another TF movie bash session.

I appreciate their willingness to listen to fans, and I'm looking forward to the movie. It was cool that they wanted to communicate with us about the movie, even though in some areas we might have been ignored (such as megatron's and starscream's designs). however as far as I'm concerned that was the design staff, not the writers. Looking forward to the movie, even though theres alot of what I've SEEN that I don't agree with, hopefully the story and characters more than make up for what I feel are slight short comings (again mostly design wise. To me Starscream's design should be used for a waspinator toy, while megatron just looks nothing like megatron has, or for that matter most transformers in general)

thanks for your hard work in trying to make this a good movie. Hopefully, the movie is gonna rock, although again I am still alittle doubtful in some areas.

I assume by "listen to the fans" you guys meant "placate the fans with a false sense of input and then proceed as planned"? Right?

I wonder which Ipod will be brought to life? Nano or Shuffle...toughie.

Anyway, thanks for writing a sub-par, unintelligible, typical hollywood dreck script.

See I was positiive!:)

Well, I'll wait until I see the movie before I really harp on their writing, but I have to admit that the lies haven't made me particularily happy with them. Lies like "The Megatron-Starscream dynamic will definently be retained" or "we were fans of Transformers from the very beginning!"

I think everyone's attacking these two guys for no good reason. They were hired with the promise of money, not the quality of childhood memories brought to life. (And believe me, for that kind of dough, you'd have done the same.)

I liked the script that was leaked, looks like they kept most of it.

People hated Bob Skir for Beast Machines, etc...yet people now sit around and say "Oh yeah, I remember that. Wasn't so bad. It wasn't Star Trek Voyager bad."

If you want a fandom favorite script, write one your damn self, and when it's turned down because it sucks (and they hired these guys because they're professionals....) I guess you'll just have to swallow it.

If you hate it that bad, just don't spend a dime on any of it. How difficult is that?

Wow another movie thread totally destroyed by the bashers, what a suprise. I for one think the script from what I read was pretty darn good. Not LOTR good, but good. To me it invokes the spirit of the early G1 eps., but hey that's my opinion, and I'm sure someone will tear mr to shreads over it.

wtf people i cant beleive you

these guys arnt the ones who decided what the robots should look like. these guys arnt the ones that decided this movie needed to be geared twords average joe dumbass, in the american market.

these guys were just hired to write a basic script for that. in the end, they didnt get any final say, that was left to the studio, director, producer, hasbro, hasbros advertising, and gm.

these guys just did thier job. how many of you here have ever written a fan fic? did everybody just love it? anybody ever tell you it SHOULD HAVE BEEN WRITTEN OUT LIKE THIS BECAUSE THIER IDEA WAS BETTER?

shit people i just cant beleive that a movie that hasnt come out yet, hasnt even been finished apperently, that hasnt been judged by critics yet, hasnt been seen by average joe dumbass, can possibly be ripping the fandom apart like this.

ripped YOUR childhood up?

BULLSHIT OUR childhood

i grew up on g1, that was my whole life as a kid. that hasnt been ruind one bit, i still got those toys on my shelf, and i still got those awsome dvd boxed sets that i can watch whenever i feel like cheesy 80s goodness, along with heman, gijoe and voltron.

you dont want to see the movie? fine who cares dont. nones forcing you to pay dime one. weather you want to admit it or not, this movie wasnt made for us. this movie was made for average joe dumbass, who probably cant tell optimus primes ion cannon from a gobots ass.

thats how things work, weather we like it or not. im not telling anybody to go watch a movie and judge it if they relay dont want to. but godamnit people, we as a fandom have seen new diffrent stuff from transformers every couple of years. some poeple hate it because its diffrent, or hate it because its just more of the same.

ehh, not as good as g1, or meh g1 was lame beastwars ruled, or damn armada was an awsome show didnt care much for energon either, but liked cybertron. it was full of cheesy 80s goodness.

its always something new, noy continuity, new concept, new wonky gimmick

some old fans like it, some hate it, new kids see it and love it, and we get new fans for a new generation, and the fandom keeps growing, as it stands now, we may not be as big as trekkies or starwars freeks, but we are way more diverse then theyll ever be.

i guess some might not like that though.

we as a fandom should be comming together in times like these, not blowing eachother apart, just because something is not made specificly for us.

especialy since we are so radicly diverse, we all remember it diffrently, and have our own perspective of what it should be.

hell the way i remember starscream from my childhood, was the way he was in the comics, which i never read growing up.

its all perspective and personal opinion.

please for the love of god, stop trying to give death threats for every little detail, and stop trying to nuke one another over diffrent beleifs.

nothing, not a movie, not a new toy line is worth destroying your fellow fan

...unless maybe its a solid pure silver starscream, with onyx, ruby, and amethist inlays to give him his color scheme.... hmmmm

In reality I have never seen a flat nose that was like that, but I've seen kenworths that are really close to how he is now. And for those that say this movie is raping your childhood, until I see movie megs sticking head first out of your a$$ then I'll believed you are getting raped, until then you just need to chill one movie does not ruin a lifetime of memories.

I don't care if Optimus turns into a dishwasher- the script sucked. The plot is terrible. Magic map glasses? Who came up with that one? The world is saved by football. FOOTBALL! The scene is in the trailer- it is confirmed. This will be laughably bad- and even worse- it will be bland. The action will be okay- but we won't give a damn about the robots, who are just set dressing, each getting a handful of lines. Most of the picture focusses on the "humor" of "a boy and his car." Don't forget: "A boy and his car."

The crow also had poor dialogue. So I guess the two are pretty similar when you think about. I guarantee the audience lets out a collective groan when the first army grunt spits out some boring detail about his home life- and how he can't wait to get back- only to be sliced seconds later by the mecha-bug of doom.

Dark City was much better.

Football refers to the main character (the human) running away from megs in the crumbling building. He uses his mad football skills to run away from megatron, carrying the matrix- (sorry, the energon cube). Megs can't catch him he's so fast.

But maybe that's how every movie should end... Hell, if the Crow used more football moves- maybe the franchise could spit out a couple more direct to DVD sequels.

This doesn't need to be Citizen Kane, in fact it can't be given it's concept- but it can still be a smart piece of Sci-Fi with great characters and a memorable story.

This film has neither.

Yeah he can't possibly be running away from a 35 foot tall robot because he is scared of said robot. I think you may need to rewatch the trailer, I see the "footbal" part you refer to but all I saw was running no "mad football skills", also there is no robot shown so how are you positve that it is megs.(unless you are getting that part from the script)

But maybe that's how every movie should end... Hell, if the Crow used more football moves- maybe the franchise could spit out a couple more direct to DVD sequels.

Only one of the "sequels" deserved to have been direct to dvd, the other(Salvation) was good enough to go to theatres.

This doesn't need to be Citizen Kane, in fact it can't be given it's concept- but it can still be a smart piece of Sci-Fi with great characters and a memorable story.

None of the original cartoons or predecessors were "smart sci fi". G1 was a 30 minute long commercial. Beast wars and Beast Machines was a 30 minute display in cg. And the some of the newer series were like pokemon from cybertron with all of the mini con stuff.

In my opinion Transformers has never really been and "intelligent property" and most likely never will be, with the exception of some of the recent comics that flesh out the history some more. Some fans put transformers on way to high of a pedestal and when a new concept comes out that doesnt live up to "their hype" they can't help but completely shred it and bash for all its worth.

These guys just wrote the scripts, they had nothing to do with the visual interpretations of it.

Anyhoo, I would like to thank them for writing a script for a live action tf movie. I'll find out in a few months if I like their work (hoping like crazy).
