One notable feature shared with the previous version version of this mold, is the inclusion of sound and voice clips by Megatron's Japanese G1 voice actor. It does not seem to include any of the other accessories that the original (toon-accurate) version has.

Also, I think he will come with some accessories. He has an alternate head and chest in this shot.

And are those stickers? I wouldn't pay $250 for stickers.

Good thing you get a toy with them tookurthy wrote:Hard pass, do not care for the toy accurate deco. The original MP-36 works just fine for me.

Also for the sticker debate, see MP Artfire.

They look a bit metallic. Did the previous release have metallic parts?

Unless the lighting is off, the helmet part of that face is a different color than the one on MP-36. This is very cool. If this and the new Shockwave were the first versions to come out, I would have totally bought them. But, I can't drop the same money on these all over again.

They look different to me. It means Takara didnt copy anything. And it makessense taht they are similar since both the KO and Takara are pooling from the same source, being the G1 toy.

I'm actually willing to bet that the KO toy face is the same and the 36+. It and the new chest are freakishly similar. These new pics are higher res and such, but are still too small to make out the finer details. On the 36+ face, there's a lot more black added which makes it difficult to confirm. Here's a better pics of the KO though.william-james88 wrote:They look different to me. It means Takara didnt copy anything. My thoughts as well. Highly unlikely that TT is thieving KO pieces.Sabrblade wrote:I could imagine someone from the KO company getting their hands on (leaked/stolen) preliminary design work for MP-36+ and getting them released in KO form ahead of the official Takara version.

kyano13neo shared an image from the toy show, on Twitter, where we see him next to the G1 toy counterpart which is not as shiny since this MP 36 + is based on the Hasbro G1 toy (and thus, the Takara 16-S release of G1 Megatron).

Alternatively you could also say it's the Microman version which also had the chrome. The one in the photo is the Chronicles figure from Dark of the Moon with selective sticker application (including the chest sticker over the tampograph). The original G1 Japanese release was based on a Microman variant that replaced the red plastic with blue while 16-S was chromed like Hasbro's.

Sabrblade wrote:Interesting how that Japanese description for Rodimus Unicronus makes no mention of how his deco is inspired by SG Rodimus, but does for some reason mention the G1 episode where Rodimus Prime lost the Matrix to Scourge.
Also interesting that for Bomb-Burst, they mention his Masterforce counterpart Blood by name.
But this is the Masterpiece G1 Megatron thread, so I'll stop right there.

Cyberpath wrote:Suggestions for a flying stand in gun form? (with all its attachments.)
Not a specific suggestion, but two clear figure stands that have grasping mounts should do the trick. Alternatively you could maybe make something out of generic clear LEGOs (I've seen them sold in bulk).
Taking a quick look, this seems like it might work. Not sure how big they are, but this set seems like it would be able to support the stock and barrel at a good height. And it's cheap (but on back order).

My impression of the generic flying bases with the claw arm is that they are typically too weak for something as heavy as MP-36.
Will keep watch for the AmiAmi set, it seems like it would work if the scale is right.

This is what I found. I snapped off one arm trying to hold up Swoop...

Some of them seem best for balancing figures more than supporting weight...

I have no idea what I just watched, but 36+ looks fantastic, shame I had to cancel my order (might get it in January since Beast Megs was pushed back).

It can be pointed out that the designers at Takara Tomy have done their best to invoke the original box art of Megatron with the way the Masterpiece is posed on the front of the package.

Yeah, hurry up, BBTS, I wanna read Cob's impressions! Take lots of picssss.
I prefer the cartoon but this one looks really cool, too. I do have that unlicensed add-on kit for the "toy" look. Pretty close minus the black paint app on the forehead.
