I don't know about other countries but it seems that PotC has had much more publicity over here than Transformers. Maybe that's why?

See kids..this is what we call a example of "losing a good chance to keep is mouth shut"

How much does it hurt when you fall off your high horse?
There's no point in actually addressing the content of this post.

Then the Harry Potter fans said their movie would beat Transformers....and it didn't.
Good year for me and my movies.

Pirates, Spidey, Shrek and HP5 all got a fair whack more publicity than Transformers did. National TV Stations got behind the three "blah 3" as well.

I don't think Pirates 3 had anywhere near the amount of publicity that TF got. You couldn't go a commercial break without seeing some kind of TF commercial during the lead-up. With Pirates, I saw so few commercials I wasn't even sure when it came out. Then again, I mainly watch cable, not national TV stations.

Sorry, I'll clear this up.
In Australia, one of the National Broadcast channels (7) jumped on the Spiderman and Pirates (and Knocked Up) bandwagon, another National Broadcaster (9) jumped on Shrek. Transformers ads were on, but they did not get anywhere near as much airtime as the other summer blockbusters.

It also would have helped if I'd looked at what country you were in.

I don't know the last time I saw a movie with such heavy advertising in the U.S. as Transformers.

Point being: Transformers has a great start on achieving a loyal fanbase, and it's going to get even better once the DVD comes out!
