I'm pretty sure it will be the same size as the original G1. You could always buy the CD add ons.....

That grey barrel is familiar for some reason and I think that is why.

Three or four add-ons that help make the G1 figure more articulate.

And, the "visor" optic comment on Dev, well the TV series really couldn't get that right. For me, I wish they could give him the "red optics" he had in the show.

Maybe because not everyone, like me, was able to get a AUTHENTIC G1 original or reissue, and maybe because the K.O's were really poorly done. I had a K.O. that just fell a[art when touched..........

My childhood vintage Devastator falls apart when you touch him. Especially the Bonecrusher arm. Im going with the TFC Devastator for my classics collection. Now what I really wanna see is the clear green plastic and light blue Devastator KO's that are supposed to be coming out later this year. Those things are going to be bad ass !!!

If that is the final colors, then I might have to cancel my preorder or wait and see if Hasbro can do it right. Not feeling it at all. If they are going to change the color of the barrel, might as well make it purple.

I too hope it's a test shot. I prefer the original colors. If they are doing any color update, then give me the anime accuracy, red eye, Mixmaster mixer is purple, etc. Not a downgrade version of a catalog that's neither the original color or cartoon.

I take it that you already have an original G1 Devastator? If I had an original in good condition and I didn't like the paint job then I'd probably pass too.
BUT, I don't own a G1 version and am over the moon that he's finally getting a reissue despite all the talk of his mold being lost/broken and that the Encore line has returned. Pre-ordered it on Amazon.co.jp already. Roll on November

Blurrz wrote:With the Transformers fandom in Devastator fever with the upcoming Encore reissue, and new figures from various third parties, let us take a look at the Encore Devastator pre-order over at amiami.jp. The figure is set for release this November, and the japanese hobby site has blown up the prototype image of the behemoth sized combiner. While some have seen a smaller version of this picture, it shows that Encore Devastator will feature black forearms, and Mixmaster's mixer will have a gray tone, which will set this figure apart from it's original release. Also of note, the missile launchers are colored yellow, instead of the original green. Will these changes stick to the November release, or will the figure be the exact same as it's Generation One version? Only time will tell!

I love how the Encore figures make these little improvements.

I'm gonna get the G1 reissue, but I want tow wait and see what the Maketoys Deva is going to look l;ke before deciding between it and the TFC Hercules. I hope Maketoys will be a little cheaper, to be honest.....

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe Devy has ever been officially re-issued after G2.
There's been many KO's of varying degrees of quality yes, but to my knowledge there hasn't been an official re-issue for it yet.
With that being the case, its nice to finally get an official release.
I just hope Crazy Devy decides to re-release some of their power parts for this. I really only want the head, the waist/thighs and the articulated hands.
Posted by fenrir72 on July 4th, 2011 @ 12:43pm CDT
Heck, Dev's so "wanted" that within a few seconds from the moment I saw the solicitation and got to post the pic from amiami, the bugger was all but sold out. Another site, hobbysearch still has it on pre-order but on a higher price (but still below the SRP Y 10,000). No sign yet at hlj.
After 25 years, it sure is worth the wait. I just pray the QC won't be the same as Bruticus.
Posted by robofreak on July 4th, 2011 @ 1:10pm CDT
I also think it's a great way to combat KOs. Considering how different it will be to a lot of the KOs on the market, it's a good marketing strategy for Takara to give us the Catalog version since a KO hasn't been made to reflect that look.
Posted by fenrir72 on July 4th, 2011 @ 1:42pm CDT
I hope/pray that the other gestalt's get the re-issue treatment. I for one wish for Computron, Abominus and even Superion (I got mine second hand, but buying a brand new one beats everything hands down)
On a side issue. Encore Metroplex has an additional improvement in Slammer having an extra connecting peg. The KO didn't have that (I think)
Meister has blue visor and the stamped graphed "Martini" colors
Sky Lynx and OS had new face (sort off)/ extra paint apps and decals
Trailbreaker and Hoist blue visors
Ratchet and IH has card board cutouts for faces (lame O TT)

The Seekers, some new stamped graphed sigils and patterns
Casseticons more or less the same with the Seekers
Minibot set, same too (blue optics and sigils)
Bruticus had almost similar upgrades with the Destron sigil
Predaking, gold and additional optic decals in red
So it's no surprise that Devastar would be any different. So what's the hubbub then? Maybe this IS a measure to distinguish them from the KOs.

Tfsource still has many of the parts in stock or on preorder for a late summer restock.
Head in-stock
Hands and Magna Lazer preorder
Forearms in-stock
Silver thighs in-stock (which might go halfway decent with the gray barrel)
Purple thighs in-stock
Barrel set preorder (If you want to get rid of that unsightly gray barrel)

fenrir72 wrote:Seems like you can't please everyone. People rant against the KOs. Now that TT is going to re-issue the "D" man after like 25 years, we are hearing a lot of grumblings. It's either this or a that. So what if it ain't a direct replica of the original. Encore Meister among others sported a few improvements over the originals which, imho ain't all that bad. TT ain't forcing us to get this TF fix so for the naysayers out there, just follow Thumper's age old advice, "if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all" against Devastar. Heck, despite its blocky pedigree, he is 1000x better than the ROTF monstrosity.

Gotta agree with you there, especially about ROTF Devastator.

Secondly it seems the Encore line is back!

Cheered me up after the depression of getting home from my holidays.

Back to it's roots I say. And now that you mention it, Diaclone I mean, can we also pray that maybe Raiden too be included in the Encore line?
Edit:
From my previous post, it was Thumper's mom that gave the advice, my bad

So let us "help" TT by making this release successful by patronizing this with much gusto and not let this be another "Super God Ginrai or Star Convoy" fiasco.
On a side note, how do we reach TT's customer service site and remind them to make sure the QC aren't compromised.

fenrir72 wrote:With Devastar being quite an old mold that just got resurrected, who knows? Raiden/TrainRobo came out just about the same time during the Diaclone era and got released during the Headmaster run (which more or less means that the master molds aren't that worn out yet right?) If TT was able to re-issue the Season 1 cars, what more the above?

Reaching TT customer service isn't possible. The most effective way to get your point across is by communicating with your retailer, who in turn will communicate with their TT counterparts.
