Transformers MTMTE and RID Cover Art

As you probably know by now Transformers Ongoing will be splitting into two separate titles in January 2012, More Than Meets the Eye and Robots in Disguise. Each debut issue will have four inter-connected covers, each featuring a character from the new ongoing series, combining to make one image. Marcelo Matere will handle the RID covers, while Alex Milne will handle MTMTE covers.

Thanks to the deviantART accounts of Marcelo Matere, Priscilla Tramontano, and Josh Perez we get a look at the art that those inter-connected covers comprise.

I like RID cover better that MTMTE. MTMTE looks like G1 Bayformers. (I am aware that they have been doing that for some time know)

Is it me or does Ratchet seem out of place? Like maybe Kup or Springer would of been better suited in that pic?

If you think about it, each group is split up equally in specific positions:

Commander: Bumblebee / Hot Rod
Logical thinking 2nd in command: Prowl / Ultra Magnus
Medic: Wheeljack / Ratchet
Warrior grunt: Ironhide / Drift

So, it makes sense from that perspective

Now you mention it, he does rather. Maybe it'll make more sense once we've read the comics. I'm not usually bothered by multiple covers, but these are very nice. Might have to get one of each to display, then an additional issue to read.

Hopefully Blurr stays in one of these plots, and then Milne stays on the same plot, so Blurr doesn't have 3-4 designs like he did in Ongoing >_<

Youre right in that regard, though Wheeljack should swap position with Ironhide then and they should replace Ratchet with Perceptor

I think anytime you put bumblebee (a sidekick and a scout) in command, give him too much e, you ruin a good property. It works that bee (whatever he's called) remain behind heavy artillery line. What's a scout doing in command of the autobots. No wonder the autobots always lose to the deception. Have you ever seen the highest ranks of the deceptions in the hands of let's say rumble or frenzy (no offense)? They're not front lines or brains. Why take the comics series that direction. And I'm sorry but IDW needs to find better artist who can put a page of art that no one can say no to. Find better pose the the robots or a new take on the character's gestures or expression. This is art for crying out loud. I know dreamwave messed up but at least there's a distinct art style the artists' portrayed. Now it seems the storyline is the only thing driving the books. Well, hello!! It's a comic book!!!!!! (I do understand story is important too)

Personally, I wouldn't want the medical expertise of Wheeljack or Perceptor - Jack would sooner make a bomb out of his patients than cure them, while Perceptors expertise ends at the line "his wounds are fatal" - First Aid or Fixit would be the only logical choices for another medic.
