A number of Seibertronians took part last night in the Fathom Events screening of the original 1986 animated Transformers: The Movie, and some have shared the poster that was being given out at some of the participating theatres!

The poster features the same Livio Ramondelli art that was seen on the latest release of the feature, with Optimus Prime and Rodimus Prime taking front stage, and the rest of the cast around them, the Matrix, and Unicron in the background. Check it out below, and let us know if you took part in the screening!

To whoever at Fathom or Shout that decided that crummy two channel audio mix was acceptable - there's a saying about barns and going behind them blindfolded at dawn and it applies not literally of course, but instead to how well you did your job.

Picked mine up last night. It's a decent poster, but I was disappointed because I thought they were giving out the actual movie poster, with Magnus and everyone on it.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought that was a shit job. I think it actually ruined the theater experience for me, and I actually had to cover my ears to keep them from bleeding at some parts.

Greetings My Fellow :BOT: :CON: :MAXIMAL: :PREDACON: :RUBSIGN:

Transformers The Movie was last night not only showed the movie but at the beginning there was a small feature presentation with Travis Knight on the Bumblebee movie showing practical effect interactions with the actors of the movie. That feature is on you tube at this time. Also included after that was the full scene of Charlie Watson meeting Bumblebee in the garage for the first time and how she freaks out and tries to run away as bumblebee freaks out and hides in the corner after his transformation. Their meeting was very puzzling and heart warming to both of them as she tries to figure out what or who he is. She mention that the noises he makes sounds like a bumblebee and that's what she will call him. He then points to her as she first thinks he likes metal cause she is wearing a metal band t-shirt but then figures he wants to know her name and she tells him, "I am Charlie Watson." "I am 18." "Today is my Birthday." All with such wonder and curiosity as she displays during the scene. Then it cuts to additional trailer footage which we have seen before from what was release this week. Then after the credits of Transformers the Movie there was 2 interviews with Stan Bush. Which he sang 2 electric acoustic guitar solos of "Dare" and "Touch". Very enjoyable night!!!

Enjoy, :KREMZEEK:

I wasn't able to make it last night, but I would have been more disappointed if they were giving out posters with the original movie artwork. I still have my Back to the Future poster framed from a 25th anniversary screening that uses the original 80s design. I'm not sure why companies feel compelled to create new poster/DVD art for films when they are rereleased because, in my opinion, the usually don't live up to the original.

I thought those two images looked familiar, you cad ;)

The Mrs and I had a good time. I'm not an audiophile nor cinephile, so I thought everything was great. A damn sight better than watching at home on my DVD.

The trivia before hand was too short and a bit easy, but the wrong answers were really good wrong answers.

The Bee movie extended sneak peak was unexpected and awesome, so was the Stan Bush stuff (glad we hung around after the credits). I wasn't expecting the posters so those were pure lagniappe.

Overall a great experience, glad we went and it was fun to rub elbows with fellow fans :APPLAUSE: ;)^

Greetings,

I'm having trouble trying to find online any figures on how much the movie made last night. I'd be curious to know. boxofficemojo just posted Thursday estimates, and TF:TM wasn't on there, sometimes movies are added later, but if anyone has any stat references, this would be appreciated. Just wondering if it was a profitable enough to warrant any future screenings.

I wouldn't imagine such findings would be readily (if at all) available for such small-scaled limited special event releases like this, since this release wasn't intended to make a profit like any normal film release is; rather, this was just a special commemoration event coupled with hype-building for the next major film release.

My city only had two theaters showing the film and we didn't have a showing until they added additional theaters.

The one I choose wasn't even half full.

How was the turn out elsewhere?

Only people who will choose see this movie are people who know about transformers fan sites such as this one and family’s who have kids that watch cartoons not many adults I know will watch cartoons and read comics but they are happy and proud to say to see live action movies of transformers I say under million possibly thousand I don’t know how many theaters this movie was playing in to give good estimate

None of what you said has anything to do with the availability/accessibility of box office estimates (which is what o. supreme was talking about).

My Theater was "comfortably full". That is, not every seat was filled, but it still felt crowded. Sound aside, I had a good time. It felt almost like a Con afterwards, the c9mraderie and the stories. I listened to one group of guys who mentioned how all og tjier kids have baby pictures next to Fort Max; or why timr they got here, and when I mentionwd I was almost there and decided to check Target for new Bee toys and a hunch of people tuened around and asked If I found anything. (No, but Novastar was at Wal-Mart). Outside, someone driving shouted Till all Are One to a groupof us chatting, and another group talking about how we were going to have hoverboards by 2005 and a lady said "I forgot the kids name", eberyone shouted Daniel, and I said "Well clearly she's a Decepticon." to a round of laughter. And the guy who when he saw it in 86, at age 7 turned to his Mom in theater and asked her what "Fatal" meant. It made me miss Botcons and talking with Transfans. And sound aside, it was awesome getting to see it on a screen bigger than my Laptop. Would I do it again? in a heartbeat

Wonderful anecdotes like this make me almost wish I had decided to go out and see the movie it last night, if nothing else than for that kind of fan interaction. But I'm just so burned out on this movie from having seen it a million times over already that I just didn't feel compelled to go.

Nor was I willing to risk potentially running into the kind of fans who only prefer G1 and deride all else that came after it, as I know all too good and well that my city has a sizable number of fans of that bitter kind, and past experiences of trying to engage in civil conversations with such fans have not been pleasant.

I'd say including my group there were 9 people in the theater. No poster, no trivia which wouldn't have been that bad if it wasn't for the fact I felt they used the non remastered version of the movie. It just looked off from the Blu-ray.

Boxofficemojo had figures for My Hero Academia, which was also a limited release, though it was more than one day, still -They do have figures for smaller, limited releases, also those figures MUST be somewhere,

there are movie critics, that are able to get figures for movies that play only on ONE SCREEN in big cities like NY & LA.

I;m sure it made somewhere in the hundred-thousands range for a single evening, BOMJ has BO results for turnouts much less than that, but they don't seem to show TF:TM for some reason...
