Real Devastator has brought us word that ACToys has in-package pictures of two upcoming universe releases, The G1 Insecticon reissues, and the Red Powerglide!

Expect to see these released later on in the fall! The Insecticons are Toys R Us exclusives and Powerglide is a Wal-Mart Exclusive alongside Skyfall and Hardhead.

Compare these figures to their original incarnations Shrapnel, Kickback and Bombshell

Looks nice, but being a Walmart exlusive means hard-to-find where I live. The Walmart near my house is usually poorly stocked with Transformers, especially exclusives.

I'm going to nab those Insecticons because the ones I own are all in pieces and broken. I need a new set at an affordable price.

As for Powerglide, I did want him and might get this version, see how it goes.

I like what I see. The Insecticons have their chrome, which was the major worry for me, and Powerglide has retained the grey arms seen on the one shown at Botcon. Plus both should come to the UK (Asda and TRU have both been pretty good at bringing in the relevent exclusives for the last couple of years, MP 'Screamer and WW Prowl and Grimlock being notable exceptions).

Only thing that I would have liked to have seen was the inclusion of the enegon cubes that the bookbox reissues came with, but no biggie on that score.

Geez, I didn't even notice the name changes on the Insecticons. That's lame. Still going to grab them if I see them though, maybe Powerglide also, but I'm really not a fan of that mold.
Maybe I just missed it somewhere, but are the Insecticons going to be Walmart exclusives also, or just Powerglide? Sorry if that's been answered to death already.

And please quit whining about the names. At least appreciate the effort Hasbro took to even try and release them. Besides, what's in a name? I could be calling them "Fuzzywuzzy", "Snugglywugglykins" and "Periwinkle Stardust" and I'd still be happy.

I'm not whining. I am of the opinion that the original names are preferable to these which they were given for whatever the reason may be. that's not whining, I'm just giving my opinion. I don't care what the hell they want to/have to call them, they're Kickback, Bombshell and Shrapnel to me. I was just saying what I thought about the names as printed.

Yes, Kickback is still Kickback!

And it makes sense. I believe Robot Hero Shrapnel was called Insecticon, and Robot Hero Bombshell was also called Hardshell.

So this probably could have been, or was predicted by truly detail oriented folks.

You know, I don't know what's worse; the fact that it took Hasbro 6 months to fix Leo Prime's fudged up color scheme, or the fact that it's taken Hasbro a whole year to figure out what color Powerglide should have been. Repaints like these piss me off. It should have been done right in the first place, not rectified with a correctly repainted store exclusive. (:|

Dangit, I wish the good repaints weren't always exclusives. I don't have an easily accessible Walmart in my area, but I'll try to get Powerglide somehow. The Insecticons are cool but I'm not interested, they're not exactly my favorite G1 characters.

Anything with "bomb" and "shrapnel" in the name has been changed recently, with the unpopular military action and all going on (too many people hearing about roadside bombs and sharpnel injuries).

Can't these giant mechanical soldiers have some less violent names, like, here's the insecticons, Steve, Joe and Ed.

NOW They release a red usa edition of powerglide!!??!!??!? I ordered the japan release through BBTS cause I hated Hasbro's silver paint job so much :-x

For all intents and purposes: Mexico D.F.

I've seen them in 2 Walmarts near me. So I thought it was a general Walmart release type deal.

The Bumblebee Helmet two packs had one of either of these three figures that I remember. But it was only one per set. I think there was one with Ratchet also, but can't be sure.

Its on their website here for $797 MXP or about $61 bucks.

This is just another example of the PC movement "wimpifying" our society. Probably, some overbearing mother thinks "Bombshell" and "Shrapnel" will warp young minds. Why don't we give them names that reflect our young society today..."Morbidly Obese" and "Ridalin". Sheesh, the names of two toys aren't a problem!

The renaming really bugs me as you can tell. I probably won't buy the set just for that reason.

OK, I'll step off the soapbox now!

But seriously, does anyone agree with me?

Does anyone know how much the Insecticons and Perceptor will cost? The last reissues I saw at TRU were Ironhide and Ratchet and they were $50 each. Which is absurd IMO.

I prefer my TFC-16 "Insectrons" over this new reissue. Takara even used the real names. But I'll probably pick them up anyways unless they get included as an Encore release.

When the Universe Ultras and Voyagers were on sale a few weeks ago I was tempted to pick up Powerglide but I knew of this release so I waited.

I'll probably end up getting the Insecticons. Though I really wish they haddn't been lazy to give us a re-release rather than new molds. I would have loved to see a modern take on these guys.

Does anyone else notice Hasbro working backwards? I think the first powerglide was a prototype that got released by accident and they went with it for people who want to kitbash...or their computer for the paint application got the colours switched.

Those appear to be the exact same as the g1 series, I already have all 7 G1 insecticons ($100 at that

) and I have the Takara Powerglide so... all I want to see now is that Perceptor!
