We’ve known we were getting Road Pig in the Walmart exclusive Legacy subline for a while. We saw random bits of him, like his arms, but only now do we finally get a good look at him. He will be part of the dame wave as the other Walmart exclusives like Lockdown and should appear in stores by the end of summer. But you never know with Walmart.
There are no preorders open for him right now. Check him out below and let us know what you think.

I know the g2 headsculpt is supposed to be iconic but a little too generic for my liking
Still a definite buy for me, I like the g2 symbol on him

As you saw with my comment about the headsculpt, the accuracy to the original is cool but a little more difference in headsculpt and some more color breakup would've been nice
I like that all of your replies sound like an excuse to correct people though, it's very pleasant

I hope I'll be able to pick him up.

I appreciate that! For those that wanted complete accuracy I'm happy for them
Imho I just think that sometimes too much accuracy can be a detriment instead of updating and improving a little. Of course, too much departure also sucks. Finding that middle ground is tough, I think the designers do a great job though
I was just being a little nitpicky

I have a bit of a bias towards OG toy accuracy but I still value something fresh above all else. If it still feels like the character and looks like a very cool toy, I'm sold!

The original had too much black on it as well. Just because the update is faithful to it doesn't mean it has to be accepted, especially if the original isn't liked for the same reason.Sabrblade wrote:As opposed to...?Razorbeast88 wrote:There's a little too much black

I find the original's clear JOCKSTRAP to be hilarious.
Makes me want to get him.
Oh, and he's pretty affordable too!
Annnnd bought.

After a 2nd look, this one definitely has more gold and red than the original and I appreciate that
Didn't realize he was a ninja. The road pig name threw me off and made me think of a biker gang member or something

Ninja in fiction often wear black.
A real ninja can look like anyone or anything.
There's a relatively new video that explain the trope.

Funny, I bought the original back in the day, and never thought anything of it. Maybe Road Rocket always aimed his light-up pizza-cutter straight at the enemy's crotch.-Kanrabat- wrote:Rodimus Prime wrote:The original had too much black on it as well. I think the issue with 'too much black' has to do with all the sculpted details on this Junkion mold that weren't on the G2 cycle mode; the spikes especially could have used some gold or silver to stand out, but slavish toy-accuracy makes it look like we're expected to pretend they aren't there. If the new body's an upgrade to go along with his membership in a new faction, than it warrants a little leeway in the deco department.
Still might pick this up, and see if I can build an alternate Junkasaurus someday.

Bikers can be ninja.

Pre-orders did open, but they've since sold out. Someone (can't find the original post) posted them right here in the forums.

I'd also be all over an Armada Sideways retool of this guy.

I'll respectfully disagree.
This guy has all the right beats. Saddle bags, translucent exhausts, long seat back.
He just needs a different front end, and since it's just his foot, it would be an easy retool.

Posted by Sabrblade on July 15th, 2024 @ 11:39am CDT
I was talking more about the robot mode, which is Sideways's more iconic mode since it's the one that made use of his iconic Headmaster faction-swapping gimmick.Overcracker wrote:Sabrblade wrote:I hate to say it, but the Prowl/Chromia mold would better match Armada Sideways's silhouette.Overcracker wrote:I'd also be all over an Armada Sideways retool of this guy.

I hope they come back to this later, I'd like an RID Axer even if he is just the same figure without the red and a little dark blue. This mold may not suit Armada Sideways but it does suit his Robot Masters counterpart.

Plus it would be really cool if they did some unfinished business and did a special chromed out Soundwave figure that was canceled. Would they do Microman Road Bison? Can't really see it, but it's a really good looking silver version of the mold.

Robot mode, may be a bit harder. The headmaster gimmick is not something I see them doing on a retool though, even on a Prowl retool.
But since this mold's chest is entirely fake, something can be aded there for that faction swapping. Not spring loaded, but a rotatable panel might work.

Same, though I don't know which specific figure it was for, it's safe to say it's going to go for all of the Deluxe figures. Kinda funny that they're throwing Hasbro under the bus instead of some wishy-washy vague excuse.

But as is, he really turned out good, especially that head sculpt. It's interesting that the one with the box has black thighs like the original figure, but the one in the gallery has red thighs like the original box art and prototype. I hope we're getting the latter, it looks really good with more red, but the art on the side of the new box appears to have black thighs so maybe that's not possible with the parts layout? I can't really tell what the forearms are parted with since they're red in all photos, but it seems the shoulder joints and thighs are one one sprue while the wheels, ankle joint, knee joint and neck joint are on another. That makes it hard to tell just what they could be planning for the final figure. Hopefully we get an update from Mark or Sam that explains the actual colors when these are officially announced.

A robotmasters Sideways repaint of the mold would be cool if only because of the insanely deep cut.

I'm sure you are correct. I only ordered Lockdown from the first batch, and got the same notice. RoadPig...was September I think? In any case, it wouldn't be a Walmart pre-order without a delay, that's fine, as long as it isn't cancelled. At least they made them all available, unlike the last 2 series where the only ones I wanted never got a pre-order listing on Walmart.

As you'll see, Hasbro gave this character extra attention and this seems to be the best version of the mold yet.

Canada for sure, but you'll recall in the US during the Velocitron line they refused to use solid cases even online. Not sure if that was true for the Toxitron line but it seemed that way.

That's what's so interesting here, absolutely no one has any attachment to the character. She was a one off villain, who was simpler in ambition than most, who we barely saw in robot mode (and never saw from the front), and yet Hasbro goes all out on the toy. We are all basically appreciating her for the first time.

That's peculiar! But some of these new characters/toys seem to speak to us as a whole. Sometimes the toy just WORKS for a character. It's good to see in a franchise with so many established characters.

That's just it though. She's not a new character. She's from an episode of Robots in Disguise 2015 that nobody really cared about. Yet, here she is getting the premium toy treatment from a Hasbro team who wasn't in charge back when she first debuted and disappeared never to be seen or heard from again until now.Big Grim wrote:william-james88 wrote:Big Grim wrote:william-james88 wrote:Stuff and things.
