If you're referring to the current brand team headed by John Warden, it was the brand team headed by Aaron Archer who made Metroplex and didn't know who Metrotitan was, and that team was comprised of people who had been with the brand for a LONG time (Archer himself had been with the brand since the Transmetal 2 era of Beast Wars).RAR wrote:That is Because the ones working on the Brand likely don't know a lot of things about the brand - but that is true of anyone who hasn't been around the block awhile.

The whole brand team changed over to the current one, so I dunno. We first saw toys from the current team in the Generations Thrilling 30 line with Whirl and Roadbuster, then with AOE being the first full-on line headed by the current team.william-james88 wrote:Sabrblade wrote:If you're referring to the current brand team headed by John Warden, it was the brand team headed by Aaron Archer who made Metroplex and didn't know who Metrotitan was, and that team was comprised of people who had been with the brand for a LONG time (Archer himself had been with the brand since the Transmetal 2 era of Beast Wars).RAR wrote:That is Because the ones working on the Brand likely don't know a lot of things about the brand - but that is true of anyone who hasn't been around the block awhile.
Do we know the reasons for his departure?

Archer's team was still around back then. Though, they might have changed their views of complexity for the Prime RID line, as we saw that team switch to simpler designs starting with the DOTM line. It's likely that they carried that mentality from DOTM over to Prime RID. But then again, don't forget that the Prime FE toys were originally meant for the Generations line, hence those toys' Generations-esque level of complexity.william-james88 wrote:Sabrblade wrote:The whole brand team changed over to the current one, so I dunno. I thought there was a change between Prime First Edition toys and the RID version of the Prime line. Was that not the case?

nycPrime wrote:Sorry if this has been asked or discussed, but what do folks think about the Platinum sets for the coneheads and insecticons? I never bothered with them based on the high asking price. But now both are relatively available on ebay for under MSRP (more so the insecticons), so I'm wondering if they're worth picking up?
william-james88 wrote:If you don't own those G1 toys yet then this is the best way to get them. The insecticon feel like little jewels.
Ans the conegeads is a great deal. Nice diecast, whiney stickers and a bunch of accesories. The conegeads are probably the best platinum set of the past 2 years.

WTF?
Hey, am I the only one that has never seen a Platinum G1 reissue in stores? Even when people claimed the Insecticons were collecting dust at Kmart I never saw them once. Anyone else?

If ever you come back to montreal, hit me up with a PM, we could go shoping for some toys. And I will show you the wonder of canadian rainchecks
And Emerge, cool your jets its just a very odd autocorrect. Writing from my phone a lot these days.
nycPrime wrote:Will do WJ. It's been a popular destination recently among my friends for a bachelor party. So last year I was able to convince my friends to make a quick stop at a TRU somewhere just outside the city (Laval or something). I was stunned by the huge selection, including figures that were very hard to find at the time in the US. Nothing in NYC came close to that.

I don't care that much about the bad stickers becuase they don't hinder the figures, but I am concerned about the plastic quality. I want to know if it's a good purchase.

Its a great purchase. I own both originals and the reissues and for the life of me I cant tell if the plastic is any different. It looks as good. I dont know how else i can say this, but the G1 inseticons are some of the best G1 toys and this set at the right price is the perfect way to own them (you also get exclusive energon cubes that can fit inside their cockpits).

I wouldnt know, I chose not to aply them since the toys looked so good without them already.
The only thing I can say is that the stickers on the Platinum Coneheads were great!

I always loved how the g1 Insecticons looked. The Seekers? Not so much. I'd probably pass on those. The Insecticons are just such a holy grail though. So are G1 Optimus and Soundwave to me. I really want those guys. Especially Optimus.

Ironhidensh has a G1 Soundwave reissue in box available to sell. Send him a PM if interested.
Anwyways, if you can afford those insecticons, get them, you wont regret it.
