...as it's weakest link.

I was thinking today about the game, and putting some 'real-world' ideas into it, wondered how people set-up their teams.

My Team
http://www.seibertron.com/heavymetalwar/team_view.php?id=22275

I'm a 'bottom-up' guy, so my leaders (Novacon, Katana, Jaguar) get put into missions whenever they are fit, whilst the remaining 3 positions are taken by the 3 cons with least xp - meaning i've got 9 with basically the same xp.

Just curious, how do you select your warriors to fight, and what are:

Code: Select all
Your weakest Fighter:           Mantis (597,451xp)
Gap from 6th to 12th:           1,394xp (598,847-597,451)
% Contribution of fighter #12:  7.87% (597,451/7,593,076)

For a while, I only played my bottom five (whoever that happened to be at the moment) and my top one. This gave me all of my bots having about equal xp with one guy a level ahead of them.

But then during one of the RDD/AWC tournaments, having 11/12 of my team be the same level screwed me over when it came to mission availability.

So now I play my top six bots by default, which is spreading my xp/level range out quite a lot.

Total xp = 25,227,072xp

#1) Caelus - 4,660,827xp, Lvl 6
#6) Cognitive Construct - 1,990,874xp, Lvl 5
#7) Ontos - 1,584,422xp, Lvl 4
#12) Heuristic - 1,280,984xp, Lvl 4

% Contribution of Caelus = 18.46%
% Contribution of Heuristic = 5.08%

I have two charecters (who are important to my team's story) who I always pick (Dreadspawn and Torchwood). The if I have any who have just broken through the lvl barrier to become my first one at a level, they get the next priority so I can get them enough xp to settle down at that level (currently it's [The] Universal Migrator* at lvl 5. After that it's bottem up.

*I put the 'The' in brackets cuase the name is too long to fit, so ingame he's only called Universal Migrator. :(

Currently I've got 6 warriors and 6 omnicons!

Actually that's 6 level 1 fighters I send out into missions and then when they are healing I've got 5 level 0's I generally put into the arena to get the energon to pay for the other six's CR cost. I've just upgraded ones of these to level 1 as an experiment which isn't quite working yet...

I've got two who are a long way ahead of the rest and I auto-CR them all the time - so they basically fight every time I put men in. Otherwise I swap people round. Sometimes if I want to get to a particular upgrade with one I'll focus on them.

I was having a race a while back to keep ahead of my girlfriend in the xp stakes, which is why my two front chaps are so far ahead. However, the real reason mine are so spread out in xp is because I didn't make them all at the same time - I pretty much did them in batches of three and, more or less, they still follow the original batches I made them in - except my top guy, who is actually from the second batch I made.

I have 8 character-bots and 3 arena fighters.

I stick in whichever 6 character-bots are closest to the next upgrade; so, once they've upgraded, they'll settle down while others race up.

Because almost all of my guys are close to hitting level two, though, I'm having to save for multiple stats at the moment, so it's mostly the same 6 who are seeing action. The other two - and the arena fighters - get thrown in if I log in and some of the others are still CRing.

I try to have my bots divided as evenly as possible by lvl (currently can have 3 third and 3 second per set) and by dividing my "must put in missions as much as possible" group, which are basically strafers and repairers. They also get first pick of missions.

I put the top six, able guys into battle. It actually gives a lot of my guys equal time in a relative sense. The top four are significantly more advanced than the next 3 or so just because if they win, they get to fight more often. I felt this was the most "fair". Ha! Fairness, it's a freaking RNG. :P

i mostly drop them like this unless i have some thats closes to getting a upgrade, then they get picked whenever they are free.
1-3/7-9
4-6/10-12
this makes sure everyone gets out,but at times i just send out the top 6,or just make a design.

Top 6 first, and the others in order if they get a chance to fight ^^, unless i have in mind to break at certain amount of xp, so i select one of the top 6 and change it with another of the others 6 to go into missions.

Apart from it, i didnt create all of them at the same time, thats why i have that xp gap among them.

Lowest Member - Timeframe, 3,759,775xp

Gap From sixth to twelfth - 5,015,183xp between Styx and Timeframe, as of this post.

Contribution of twelfth member - ~3.35%

Character activation priority order:
1] Character(s) close to an upgrade
2] Character(s) who I have a longer term plan for
3] Top 6 characters, if they don't already fit 1 or 2 and are available
4] Characters 7 - 9, if they don't already fit 1 or 2 and are available
5] Characters 10 -11, if they don't already fit 1 or 2 and are available
6] Character 12; rarely gets used, since I'm trying to keep him at L5 as long as possible to be available for help at the middle levels in tournaments

i usually just go with wherever i fight is available. i also like to make patterns out of stuff

anyway gap from 6th to 12th is 48.8 million
percentage contribution from my #12 is 1.22%

wow, that % sounds really low, but I would have expected it to be even smaller...i guess slowed growth of the higher bots due to maxxing out effective stats has caused the gap to decrease.

In my team there's top six, now all at lvl 2, and bottom 6, who were just upgraded to lvl 1 (wrongly, I'm afraid) :(

It's even in the team bios :)

But there's the leader of the top team who gets the worst missions but inevitably brings a heap of XP from them, so no-one can reach him :)

Strange?

I generally start with the least experienced mech and work upward from there (which means my 4 later creations tend to be the first to fight each day), except at lunchtimes when I try to send my best bots into the Level 1-3 missions. Basically i'm just trying to get my newer bots up to about the same level as the rest of my team.
