A Question about Prime...

Postby Optimus Prime IV » Wed Nov 12, 2008 11:34 pm

Hello. I am usually more of a lurker than a poster but I just finished watching the movie and had a question that I had been curious about ever since the first time I saw the movie.

In the movie when Prime and the Autobots are travelling to the Allpark and they pass Bumblebee, The Autobots spin around and follow Bumblebee. My question is can a Peterbilt 379(or whatever model was used for Prime) perform a power slide? Was it computer generated or was a stunt driver behind the wheel of the truck? I did not think it was possible for a truck that size to be able to do that. Could someone please shed some light on this.

Thanks.

I'm a truckdriver myself, and yess a stunt like that can be done in my humble opinion, dunno if in the movie it was real or not but i would definatly say its possible .
But i wouldnt realy call it a powerslide, more like a very sweet looking handbraketurn.
With only slight modificatons to the handbrake (makin it 'loose' as in : it doesnt lock into place once you pull the lever ) and a good stuntdriver with exerience in truckdynamics its possible.

I would love to try it out and proving my theory but i'm not looking forward to explaining to my boss why his 100.000+ euro rig is in a ditch....
