Ok how about this as a compromise. I want more detail you want more imagination. Anyone that's been here long enough knows that I love to do graphics. What if I set up a Altmode thread that users can submit any form of art drawings, pictures and other such images and turn them into detailed alts. For example Burn submits a picture of his Gore kitbash. I take that and turn it into a detailed alt. Along with those alts I will also do other alts to give other choices. I am all for the imagination aspect of it. Custom alts to a point could be done the same way the other alts are done and put in. There would be a level of approval to prevent images against the sites policy, but would allow user participation also. I would still provide a color change option for the alts.
As for alt priority, the programming part for them is in progress and should be done within the next couple of weeks. I'm discussing the graphics part of it now so when I get to that point I can have it all worked out by then. Right now I am kind of working on the programming and graphics simultaneously as there is only so long I can stare at code without going cross-eyed and the same with graphics. Sometimes I just have to get up and walk away altogether for a little bit.

I will give this issue some more thought although I am siding with the more detailed alt/robot modes and retaining the color selection.
On to other things the altmodes will last for a certain number of rounds which will be determined by a stat. I am still working on what stats will do what, but it will be logical in the way they work. Robot mode will be the default mode of battle.
I am contemplating how to do missions. I'm thinking that Burn had the right idea in just making it Map Missions which I agree with totally. The arena I am thinking will be set up as a challenge arena, but I'm also leaning towards making it a hybrid of the challenge arena and the current arena. This is still being decided so feel free to offer comments. If I do it that way intra-faction fights will gain zero xp it would be just for the challenge and bragging rights.

What kind of time period are we talking about when it comes to record wipping? Remember some player run competitions can go for a very long time (we've had ones lasting over a month before, if not more)?

That's a compromise? Dude, you NEED us to submit different things anyway so we have a massive tonne of variety in the game.
And Mkall tried Gore. Turned out to be a big nasty blob (much like him at times). That's the problem with stacking too many weapons onto such a small figure.
And for the record, I don't mind which way we end up going, though I had assumed we'd be able to do what we've done in the past and have a crew working on transforming submitted images.

When you say rounds you're talking in what we now call "turns"? Currently our bots transform once, make a move, then transform back. You're talking them transforming, staying transformed and executing a number of moves across a number of "turns" before transforming back?

The original idea of the map was to be the focal point of the game. I just feel having the map + missions + arena is TOO MUCH diversity.
For years people have complained off and on about lack of support in missions because their comrades were sitting in the arena. Slotting in the map and taking into account the player base (currently) is quite small, it would only make the problem worse.
By making the arena the challenge arena (ie a battle simulator, no energon or xp gained but can still be an integral part of the game and can be used for bracket tournaments) people will be less inclined to use it.
Mission/Arena logs will only be good for a certain amount of time as I will set it up so these automatically clean themselves out after a set amount of time.
Perhaps a progressive wipe (ie run daily deleting logs that are more than 3 months old) rather than a huge dump-em-all-at-once wipe?

as for intra-faction fighting, i'm all for that as well,....but is there going to be a drop down box or something to let you choose if you want to fight decepticon or autobot,...or is it just gonna be like it is now with first come first served?
And the 0xp thing kinda sucks, maybe intra faction xp gains could be halved or quartered with an "if same, then 50%, else 100%" type thing? I dunno just a thought.
and as for the more detailed alts, i'm all for it too....i want a crossfire alt,...love those damn cars,...OH and a mini-cooper too! (getting to work on some alt pics now muhahaha)

I have to say, i'm liking some of your ideas so far. I can't say i'm happy with the Beasties going out, but i understand, so long as it's easy for us to switch (back)over when the expansion for them comes.

I am probably going to make the altmode pictures on the individual character pages bigger so they will definitely be more defined. One's this sizeish will be for the logs. You'll see when it all starts coming together. And, that's the nice thing about graphics. Once, the programming is done no more is needed to swap out graphics if needed.

For the ease of getting this up and running in a timely fashion just the main color for now will be changeable. Once it's bug free and up and running smoothly I will revisit secondary color changes.

I'll second this. Call me old fashioned that way I suppose, that and I still remember how to make them, so I can do so should we all want new modes.
Also ever second Moggy works on these is one less he can work on the game.
