This isn't accurate. Anyone in America can vote for anyone in any election. You aren't restrict to what's on the ballot and you don't even have to vote for someone who's even running. We have third party candidates all of the time and they've won offices as high as governor. It just seems like it's either or because only two parties have the press and cash (and a well established historical foundation).

The American voting system isn't "one or the other," it's "all or nothing." You either win an election or you lose. Obviously Europe is very different with their proportional representation.

How about:
Core: Weekly rotation
Common: Bi-weekly rotation
Rare- Monthly rotation

:-?

TIE for 2-4 weeks, but the main reason i picked 4 weeks was i wanted RARE alts to remain RARE, core and common, sence there is alot more of them should be rotated more often than rares anyway, but thats for the ADMAIN gods to decide.

I thought the core alts didn't rotate, just the common and rare ones. Also, I highly doubt the list of alts is going to stay the same for the rest of the life of this game, as more alts get added to the list for various reasons. I mean, even if there are 200 total alts for each side available, those creative players who made oddles of alts and I suspect will make more, would see no point to it anymore and they will stop making them as there is no chance for their creations to be added to the game. Maybe super-rare one-time only alts will be available for Christmas and/or Easter for an interval the same as the regular rotation, whether it be 2 or 4 weeks.
Contest winners who get their own personal alts could pick up otherwise unavailable alts too, so there's incentive to get involved with the tournaments.
It's all good.. and oh yeah: 2 weeks, I broke the tie, for now ;)

Is there a way to have something of a rotate date for each alt.

You give something a first occurance date, and then a availibilty frequency.

Say a rare alt give it something like 5/10/07 as the first time its availible, have it remain availible for two weeks and then not seen again for six months or a year.

Then for a common you'd cut the rotator down to a month or two.

All that would depend on how many alts were allowed at one time to be availible and how many alts were in the database.

This would help keep the rare's rare while keeping the rotations somewhat fresh

While a month rotation will keep the rare alts rare, I think it will also create alot of teams with similar alts as well. Quicker rotations for the common alts will mean more vareity, even if it is only cosmetic.

I also would like to see player special alts availible only to them for doing certain things. Like winning board contest or even having a top ten character for a year.

Also wouldn't mind seeing a place where players could lock into say six unavailible alts so they could reset without losing them.

I do agree, but it also doesn't hurt anything to get ideas out there either.

Seems like the sticking point in it is that people want rare alts to be rare, while the ones that want quicker turn over just want something to look forward to more then once a month.

Seems to me a rotator that was able to rotate the commons at a different rate then the rares would accomplish this and actually please everyone involved.

Rare are going to be the times when that would be the case.

No. just becuase something is decided now, doesn't mean it can't be undecided later.

and if this thing ends up a tie, i hope the compromise of common every 2 weeks and rare every 4 weeks will make people happy.

and besides there's already been talk of having the alt rotator linked to the daily mission win %s

If nothing else comes from this vote, there have been some really good ideas offered in the comments. (Caelus's "rare means rare" one from a few pages ago was frickin brilliant, and Zz has a pretty good compromise a few posts up.)
Honestly, the rotation system should have been explained in more detail at the top of the thread, so that everyone voting would be basing their votes on more or less the same assumption. Something to consider for the next issue put to a vote.

All that aside, if the rotation goes down as explained, then chalk me up for 4 weeks. I feel that rare alts should be exceedingly rare, for one. Also, people that only get to play HMW once or twice a week don't have nearly enough time to experiment and tinker with a new alt at less than 3 weeks. Making the rotation any less only rewards the players who have nothing else to do with their lives than hang out here all day... not that there's anything wrong with that.

because I'm not fully aware of the ranking, If a new alt comes in, it is labled as core. Next rotaiotion, it bumps down. rares fall off the list, making room for new alts. It also gives people who want time to tinker, an idea of when that alt is going to dissappear. Plus, if an alt needds a special label, say for a tourny etc. , you have the option
Something like this?

2 questions:

1) Had the poll been closed?

2) Will there be a rotate the next week, as "2 weeks" option had won?

Nope. It closes in 6 hours.

If 2 weeks wins, the 2 week rotations will begin at the next rotation cycle.

So if 2 weeks win...we wait another 2 weeks for the rotation rather then 4 days?

I set the rotator to 3 weeks when I launched it.
I'll set the application to rotate every 2 weeks starting with the next rotation which is due in about a week and a half.

Now to see how long it takes for a thread to pop up reigniting the debate once people see two weeks in action and realise it's too much. :P
