I think I've finally finished this guy, unless I can find a good way to make tape-like buttons for his waistplate. Note the gun now turns into Laserbeak also (I did post pics of Laserbeak a while back though). Head courtesy of Sculpt-bot

cool i like them did you use optimus or nemesis?

I used a Nemesis. They are as easy to find here as optimus is (ie I have to order both online from the only store in Australia that stocks them) & black is such an easier base to start with than red

Interesting idea. I'd like to see some shots of the alt mode and some of lazerbeak.

Only thing that gets me(just a little) is the paint looks very thick, does that effect transformation?

Yeah the paint is rather thick, I was struggling to get the blue right as i forgot to undercoat & then put a thin blue-glitter coat on the outside to give it a bit of sparkle which doesn't really work
Not sure if it affects transformation, hasn't been attempted yet

The head looks excellent... though I think the paint is a bit too bright...

take it apart, sand and airbrush. No offense, but the shell (truck parts)is very inconsistent. On the plus side, the legs and robot parts look good. Maybe a little more definition to the head, he's still very prime-esque.

The head is actually a scratch-built Sculpt-bot design. I would have used something like a airbrush if I had access to such a tool but I don't, and I did take it apart as much as I could. As I said earlier, the paint is unfortunately too thick as I was struggling to get it the way I wanted. All part of the learning curve I guess

Ah the sculpt-bot heads I have those. They're very neat.
And so is your laserbeak, that's very cool.

You can pick up a cheap airbrush from some Mr.Toys Toyworld superstores and some hobby shops. That includes nozzle section and a can instead of a compressor. They're AUS$40. You wont regret it they're very nice.

OR just use Tamiya Spray cans. Also available from Mr.Toys.
Also try looking into Gundam Markers for detailing/panel lining, they're just so much better than trying to paint thin black lines. http://www.astrohobby.com.au/ has a nice selection of the sprays and markers.

One more thing how did you go putting on the head? Did you drill into it and put it on?

I might have to look into the airbrush type thing. Not sure I do enough of this to justify buying one though.
Yeah I did just drill the hole in, although in those pics the head is just sitting there at the moment
