No, that was another evil clone.

nucleon quest?
luckydraw fire convoy?
jafcon prime?

Nucleon Quest - completely new body that was black to begin with. No power-up involved.
Luck Draw Fire convoy - merely a black repainted toy. No fiction = no in-story explanation
JAFCON Prime - another black repainted toy. No story explanation.

Got any more?

There must be some body... :D

hmmm nope i'm out.

But did ths and robotmasters have a seperate story referring to him being black? I'm to lazy to dig out my box and can't read japanese anyway.

As far as nucleon quest goes tfu has it listed as

"In order for him to extract the super-energy "Nucleon" that exists in black holes, his entire structure is now protected by a phase modulation shield. He can now carry out activity in super-gravitic environments."

sounds more like a powerup than a new body, but perhaps that is incorrect.

Isn't it slightly premature to assume that this one will have a seperate story regarding being a powered up version?

The Nucleon Quest body is definitely a new body. The one he had prior to it was his "Star Convoy" body.

But, it could mean that this body was coated with the phase modulation shield as it was being constructed for Prime.

As for the RobotMasters and this Alternity toy, both of them are the same power up used in different timelines. Remember, Binaltech splintered off from the G1 timeline into its own story, but all the characters are from the same timeline, as they existed before the separation of time.
