i cannot begin to tell you how much i disagree with you
Not all obviously, just as not all G1 fans are the elitists people call geewunners.
However, as an example, Sonray's inistence of what Transformers is and the claim that those who see depth are deluded etc exactly mirror many geewunner's stances, especially when Beast Machines came along.
On TFW, I argued that other designs styles, more traditional design styles were possible; not better, not saying upscaled toy without change, not saying possible meant should be used, just saying possible.
Whilst some debated the hows and the whys, others insisted that they weren't possible based solely on the logic that work or not the non movie styles were all too "kiddy" and the movie desigsn were the only "real Transformers".
Since then the same people have ripped into Animated for being too kiddy or "embarassing" toys compared to the movie.
This mirrors exactly the "animeformers sucks" attitude of the geewunners.
They call people with differing opinions stupid or try to belittle them, they refuse to aknowledge any criticism of the movie or respond by attacking other continuities, they send nasty threatening PMs, they use the "real fans" card.
All geewunner stuff.
Snobs who think their continuity and designs are the be all and end all, who refuse to accept Transformers meaning anything else to anyone else, who refuse to accept any criticism, who attack anyone who doesn't like it, who insist other continuities and lines are more childish when they're often more mature, trolling those who won't accept their opinion as right.
If that doesn't sound like a geewunner, I dunno what does.
Not all of them have every trait, but like the geewunners, they're so convinced of the movie's superiority, that any criticism and those who speak it seems so ludicrous they treat it with the responding amount of arrogance and contempt.
