The link for the amazon exclusive unicron shows a sold out & even goes as far as to take away the selling price.
Also is it true amazon.com was charging ZERO shipping fees for this item.

Unless you're outside the US. It's cost me about $10 to get it to Australia and will take about 3-4 weeks. Pretty acceptable I feel.

Wow,only $10 in shipping fees for international orders. that so cheap. considering unicron is over 6 pounds & comes in a huge supreme sized TF box.
Shipping fees on ebay for unicron in a sealed box are easily over $15 dollars.
I'm from America so my shipping fees for amazon.com exclusive unicron would be free. I don't like the colors so,i'm passing on this toy.
I'm kinda wondering where amazon.com gets all this money to be so generous with free shipping fees. do they have business accounts with the post office or ups or fedex. because shipping business accounts they would get some great deal with their shipping of packages.
Either way you slice it,USA Buyers of amazon.com exclusive unicron are actually buying unicron for around $45 because their not paying the $15 in shipping fees. so their complete total is $60 with free shipping.
I wonder if amazon.com would go the extra mile & offer no tax on this exclusive unicron their selling.
I kinda wish I had the money to justify buying the Takara 2010 unicron as that's my all time favorite color scheme for this mold. my second favorite colors is the armada colors on unicron.
I just don't like the amazon.com exclusive unicron colors "for me" the colors seem very younger kid friendly. personally I want this toy to have collectors friendly colors.
I don't like the ocean blue all over this amazon.com unicron toy. because I view unicron as a evil metalic planet with a few organic parts. to have the ocean blue makes it seem like unicron have oceans on his planet surface. I kinda like to think unicron would have red lava oceans & not water oceans. I did notice in the 1986 TF movie, the inner liquids inside unicron were red color & seemed live lava oceans.

I've got a buddy who sells on Checkoutmycards.com. When he gets a card through the site that he doesn't want to sell or isn't ready to sell, but wants others to see he's got it he will jack the price to a ridiculous number. He figures no one will buy it so it is safe, but if someone is stupid enough oh well.
People will put it in their watch list and if he drops the price to something reasonable
it often will sell.
This guy may have wanted to get the word out, but may not have it in hand, or he's just playing mind games with buyers.

Three years ago most websites would offer free shipping if you spent over a certain amount of money, more and more i'm seeing are now offering free shipping regardless of what you spend. It's an incentive to get people to buy from them rather than their competitor.
Simple marketting ploy.

I received mine today.
I had said in a previous reply that I have the Takara version, which I enjoy emensly. This Hasbro/Amazon edition is the same exact mold, but mostly different colored plastics and paint apps. All I can say is that after handling, and examining the 2 in person side by side, not a picture, I can honestly say the quality and feel is the exact same. Now as far as the looks, the Takara one has a darker, but more simplistic look to it. I do not want to offend anyone, but IMO side by side, the Takara one looks a little unfinished, and monochrome. Something I didn't see before I had the Hasbro/Amazon one to compare in person.
Again I am extremely happy with both of them, and do not favor one or the other.

To be fair, though, G1 Unicron's character model did bear a rather basic and simple color scheme that was very subtle in its details. But then again, that was a common characteristic of many/most of the G1 character models.Cyberseven wrote:Now as far as the looks, the Takara one has a darker, but more simplistic look to it. In regards to the free shipping, Amazon does indeed have a business deal with the couriers. I work for one of the major courier companies so I know how it works. Amazon signs a contract to give a certain amount of business to the courier, and in return they give deep shipping discounts to Amazon. Both companies benefit, the courier gets guaranteed revenue and Amazon saves money.
With these reduced shipping costs, Amazon can offer free shipping to their customers. They simply absorb the cost of the cheap shipping, which they can afford to do because of the profits they make off the sheer volume of items they sell. It's much like Walmart or Costco, they can afford to sell things at a reduced profit margin because they sell a LOT of product. Amazon puts this into free shipping, which in turn attracts more customers, because who doesn't like hearing something is free?
Anyway, just thought I'd explain how Amazon can offer free shipping, and how the business/courier arrangements work. Back to our regularly scheduled Unicron thread!

Re: Amazon Exclusive Transformers 25th Anniversary Edition Unicron In-Stock
I gots mine today and he looks sooooo much better than the online pics made him look. He doesn't look "toyish" at all and the tones are much darker than they seem online. He's my first Unicron so I can't compare him to any of the other versions, but I am very happy with the figure and now the spot in my collection for a classics/movie Unicron has been filled.
Oh yeah, and he is frickin' GINORMOUS!!! I did not expect him to be quite as tall as he actually is, dwarfing just about every other figure in my collection. It really is a thing to behold.

Got mine today and it does look better in person. Not quite sure which I prefer all things being equal, but for the money, this one wins hands down...even if I had paid the full $60 rather than a measly $20.

Got mine today. It sucks. The Armada one was much better quality. The plastic on this is rubbery and cheap feeling. If the Takara one was like this, then I'm really suprised, since I had assumed it was a step up from the Armada version. I'm not happy with mine at all. I've spent four hours swapping springs and parts from my Armada Unicron in hopes that I could make this one half-way decent. I'm not even getting into all the problems I had. Lets just say, if you want a Unicron, this is a cheap option that gets you the G1 head, but really, the head is the only thing worth keeping. Junk the rest and put the head on an Armada Unicron and do some painting. Really, this thing is just so disapointing....

Wow. I opened mine up today and have no problems with it at all. The joint are just as tight as the Armada and the plastic seems mostly the same to me. I am super psyched about it. Especially like how the blue seems a little more muted in person than in photos. Makes it look even more screen accurate IMHO. Overall I applaud this one

Re: Amazon Exclusive Transformers 25th Anniversary Edition Unicron In-Stock
So this thing came out, then sold out within seconds over and over before a lot of people even knew about it.
And then started appearing for 2-3 hundred bucks...
This should put to rest the ridiculous notion that average fans are to blame for the shortages of the toys we all actually want. Because for every person who was lucky enough to get two for their collection there must have been a handful of scalpers who bought a lot more.
How does this happen all the time?! The only thing that makes sense is that there are actually people out there who just do absolutely nothing all day but hit "refresh" on the news pages for these fan sites so they can buy up everything, while those of us who actually try to have lives have to fit our shopping into our schedules.
Congratulations to everyone who got one though, it looks fantastic!
Toys R Us update.
My local TRU had a MP Rodimus weeks ago and I bought it to discover some pretty blatant QC issues and I returned it. I was informed that they just didn't have any idea if there would be more, so I decided to give up on scoring another one. I checked the store repeatedly for the new SS Ratchet over the course of the last few weeks and noticed that right after I bought Roddy they took his tag off the shelf(it must have only been up there for like 2 days to start with).
Finally, yesterday I went back in there and noticed an unopened box of MP Rodimus toys heading for the warehouse to be excessed, even though the shelves were empty and the tag had been missing for WEEKS! I quickly asked the employee to open the box and I scored one, lol! However, I would like to share that the plano person showed me the layout for the new reset, which he says is coming in 2-3 weeks at my store. And there is NO place for MP Rodimus even though this particular store is getting them in and backstocking them. There are locations for the ROC set and for some new exclusive featuring voyagers and deluxes together.
So for those out there who can't find this guy on the shelves, try getting the upc and approaching a manager to search for it's location in the backroom. Just because there isn't a label for him on the shelf doesn't mean he isn't in stock.

Not that this helps now, but it was stickied on the front page of this site for a few days.
I imagine it will come back sometime. It seems silly that this figure would be sold out so fast and they would not restock it. Keep an eye on seibertron.com because I'm sure it will be front paged if it is in stock again.

I'm glad to hear that. I've talked to a couple of people who weren't happy with the QC on this one, but no one had commented on the plastic quality, other than me. AS far as a display item, it's great. I agree the colors are really nice. I guess I may be a little picky when it comes to transformers that cost more than $50, but still, when I had it disassembled along side my Armada Unicron, I could see a BIG difference in the plastics and the springs, and the alignment of the parts when assembled. The two planet "shells" are rubbery and don't latch together well, where the Armada ones are very stiff plastic and click into place nicely. The entire chest assembly on my Amazon one was faulty, the switch for the eyes to light with the missle gimmick and the missle gimmick itself. Those are my main complaints, but the crotch/flap thing was also loose and seemed to fall apart for no reason, while the Armada one was tight and took some force to pull apart. Of course the head still blocks those two pegs in planet mode, but that was the case with all Unicrons. Something else I've noticed is they remolded the clip part of the rings and removed the tabs that locked it in place, but I'm not sure why they did that. Oh, and my minicon ports are hit and miss, some fit and some are so loose that minicons just fall off when you turn it over. Maybe I'm just being way too picky about these things. Overall, it's not a bad toy at all, but I really expected it to be a step up from the Armada version...

Well it doesn't help that impatient morons are willing to pay over a hundred dollars on eBay for this when it's obviously gonna be available again soon. That's why scalpers do this stuff. If we just stopped paying these outrageous prices for something that's only 59.99 retail.

Point taken!
How often do people spend that kind of money on one Transformer?
I'm just asking here because I want the feedback.
