And now for some ramblings...


I know I mentioned Tytania before and I was a little uncertain about it, but I've just finished watching episode 7 and I can quite safely say it's got me reasonably impressed. It's not all-out over the top action and fan service like a lot of series I've been watching, it's very slow and relaxed but still manages to be entertaining.

The space battles look great and the human drama, while underplayed, can really tug at the heart strings on occasion.

I have to say it's become a surprise favourite because I didn't think I was going to like it at first.


Also, it seems subbing groups seem to be slowing to a crawl in time for Christmas. Ga-Rei has gone three episodes without subs now and other series are lagging behind even more. It's a shame because... because I want to watch damn it. =(

I find myself watching more and more raw episodes because of this. I basically watched half of Slayers Revolution raw because Funimation decided to shut down subbing for it. Though I did eventually get the subs the wait was excruciating.

If they didn't mess with my weekly viewing so much I might consider buying more of their DVDs. Oh well, balls to them.

Agh, sorry! Past few weeks have been a bit of an anime renaissance for me. Haven't really watched anything for years until last October.

I'm at, hmmm, first ep, the one with the triple date, the concert, the one where Producer ****s up his house... 4.

On a related note, I went to a local toy store to (hopefully) pick up the only Revoltech Krauser II I've seen in my hemisphere. It was sitting there for months, too.

Ah I think that is the special, which is an amalgamation of the first two/three episodes. There's a lot of good stuff coming up, you're going to love this series.

The release of Slayers EVOLUTION-R has been bumped up to mid January, and previews for the new OP and ED songs have been aired in Japan.

I'm very excited about this, and I'm dying to know whether or not Rezo is going to return to the Slayers animeverse. Just got to make it through Christmas without cracking up...

Rezo-sama we want you back... Well I do anyway.

Oh I do hope they come back... Or get their own OVA or something... They're just too cool to write off after one episode.

I have a theory that since they're going by alphabetized titles, the last one will reveal the big bad guy of the series - Zellas Metallium.

If the alphabetized names of the first season are anything to go by, you could be way way way off there.

The Slayers EVOLUTION-R site on Starchild has gone live. There is not much there, but Rezo is there so it automatically makes it awesome.

I've never gone big into Slayers (dispite have pretty much every song from the show) But Rezo making an appearance.. I'll likely take a look at Evolution again.

Slayers is one of those hit and miss shows, it has a fanatical following but it's difficult to get into especially if you watch a few episodes at a time. The individual episodes can drag a lot which puts people off. My preferred method of watching Slayers has always been in a marathon.

But this moment has been ten years in the making for me. I've had a long standing obsession with anime villains, especially those with hope of redemption. Rezo fits into that category perfectly...

There's no chance for him to make a comeback in the novels since they're now over forever, so the anime universe is my last hope.

If he comes back as a good guy, that'd be perfect. The last thing I want is another Copy Rezo affair... The worst possible thing for me though, would be if he came back just to die again. I don't care if Zelgadis gets his cure or not, and I don't much care for Lina either. For me this is purely about Rezo... maybe Sylphiel... because I <3 Sylphiel...

I would ship Rezo and Sylphiel if it had any realistic chance of ever happening in canon... Sadly there's about as much chance of that as George Bush publicly admitting he's a bit dim.

What I would REALLY like to see though, is Rezo fight Xellos. >P Of course to make it fair Rezo would have to retain some of the Ruby Eye powers. It would be totally epic, because I really don't like Xellos and I want to see him get his butt kicked again. Garv was ages ago and he needs a good ego beating.

Ah... so excited. The saddest thing is the more I want the more I'm going to be disappointed, because it will never turn out as awesome as I can imagine it would.

My dad had a couple of VHS tapes he got some from video club. A few of them were anime.

I know one was called Wrath of the Ninja. It was pretty good from what I remember. Was it a show or just a movie?

There was another one called Project A-Ko or something like that, but I'm not sure.

Project A-ko is a good one. Everything up until Blue side and Grey side at least. Anything to do with the alcoholic alien Captain is hilarious.

When the ship is crashing into the city: "Nobody leaves until all the booze is safely off the ship!"

And then begging on the streets with her sign after the ship crashes into the tower.: "Help. Homeless alien... Expensive habit to support."



And there are a huge amount of references in it. Such as Eiko's mother and father being Wonderwoman and Superman.

I still have the whole series on VHS too, but the sound on the first movie is screwed up and it's pretty much unwatchable now. Shame... I will have to get it on DVD.

I think the VHS he had was from Grey Side. It had a lot of random nudity that made no sense in the story.

It did push a lot of boundaries with nudity and lesbianism. It was originally supposed to be part of the cream lemon series, porn basically. But they ended up turning it into an action comedy. Things were all the better for it IMO, it stood really well on its own.

The show was completely different before Blue side and Grey side. The only thing that's the same is Eiko, Biko, Shiko. It's a shame because you didn't get any of the hilarious characters like D, the Captain or Biko's father.

Ahhh A-ko, that's going back a bit.

Yhea the color sides were disappointing, not in that they were bad but after the first 4 parts, they just aren't the same.

I'm pretty sure the whole series got put on a DVD a while back.

As for Wrath of the Ninja, it was a 3 parter called Sengoku Kidan Yōtōden oversees, that was cutdown into the movie you have.

Personally I couldn't care less about that title thou. Sorry.

Just got done watching Ga-Rei Zero episode 10. So the eight episode flashback is finally over, and we're back at where episode 2 finished. All I have to show for it is 7 seconds of Natsuki and Toru with their faces blurred. So very sad.

Only two episodes to go and the series is over. I don't really have much to hope for. Mami shot Mr. Konparu then blew her own brains out, Masaki got his hand cut off, stabbed through the chest, burned to a crisp, Kudo got an arm and both legs cut off before exploding himself by shooting his helicopter, Natsuki got decapitated... and Toru got his throat slashed out.

Damn you, Yomi... I suppose the only thing I do have to look forward to is going to read the manga up to the point where the bitch dies (again) so I can point and laugh at the screen.

What would be awesome is if at least Toru got saved. If some of the first division troops pulled him out and got him to a hospital but I think that's a pretty far fetched wish.

I do smell a fanfic coming on though.

However I'm not sure what I'd write about... They're basically Ghostbusters with guns, but the old idea well is a little dry...

Since they're a military unit... Maybe something like a destroyer/carrier out at sea that's gone quiet, all attempts to board it have resulted in unexplained deaths... Tokusen 4 are sent in to tackle to the problem.

Basically all I want is an excuse to re-write canon events, so that could work... I'll think on it.
