This week I have been mostly watching Full Metal Alcamist which I am liking a lot, infact since I last posted in here I have caught up with some of the best/well known anime shows such as Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo and Avatar all of which were very good but Bebop and Champloo were especialy outstanding and I have got to say I find it hard to belive that there can be many shows out there that can compete with the likes of this

Genre/what's it about?

...kinda pointless asking, since I dismissed DMC when someone told me it was a "metal comedy". Sort of glad I was tied to a chair and eyeballs duct-taped open for my own good.

It looks to be a harem show, and as a rule I hate harem shows. But the fact I actually want to watch this one speaks volumes about its quality. It's about a boy who spent his whole life learning swordsmanship in the mountains and is just coming to the city for the first time, and will be staying with a group of beautiful sisters. (As you do.)

He gets into fights with the local bully and discovers for the first time things like "escalators" and "elevators". :P

So it's a reverse of the usual stereotype, except he's a hapless idiot because he's male? Glarb. Well, I sat through ALL of Love Hina, (cookie for me) DUBBED no less (better dunk that cookie in Bacardi 151) and didn't feel like sticking sporks in my eyes and icepicks in my ears. OH NAAAAH REW! Mise well checkitout.

Is it on lifesgreatest or crunchyroll?

Regios also looks to be fairly interesting. There was a little too much cheese in the action at the beginning for me though.

I often get rather annoyed by "commentary" during fights. Characters like that do tend to be annoying honestly... "I'm so badass I'm just going to stand around here talking **** all day."

I did really enjoy the school sequences though, I couldn't tell if they were happening at the same time as the action sequences or not but the school parts were much more enjoyable.

Meishen is very cute... I can tell I'm going to like her a lot.

I have so much to watch right now I'm going to go mad... again.

Asu no Yoichi, White Album, Chrome Shell Regios and Slayers Evolution-R are definitely my favourite picks right now.

Sora o Kakeru Shoujo, I'm not sure about... I'll give it a few more episodes.

Now I have to watch Kurokami. But before that I have to go work. D'oh.

I am such a sucker for scenes like this...

Well, the new episode of Gundam 00 is out, but the funsub place I go to hasn't put it up yet.

But I know what happens. Apparently, they held off on plot twists in the last episode so they could stack them to the ceiling here. And Ribbons, more or less, appears earlier in the series than previously thought.

I got Figma Shana from HLJ today, so far I’m loving the Figma figures! They're much more solid in terms of construction than Revoltech (not to say Revoltech is bad though). And she’s just fun! She has almost everything she needs, long sword, melon bread, alternate face, a box full of awesome! And the box is even awesome, she goes back into it perfectly.

I’m definitely impressed with her, and I’ll probably be purchasing a few more once I get some money. Anyone else here buying these?

Another new series, Rideback, is excellent. After only one episode it's really sucked me in, it had a really good impact.

It's about a former ballet dancer looking for something new to do with her life, and discovers a transforming bike named Fuego.

It's a little more complicated than that but I don't want to spoil it too much.

Watch it, you won't regret it.

Hello guys.

I hope you don't mind shooting me some suggestions of modern anime to get into. I used to be really into it when I was younger and had friends who were into it as well. But lately most anime seems cliche, boring, mind numbing or down right offensive. Which may say more about what recommended to me. :P Basically I fell off the bandwagon and got more into American comics and shows. In doing so I started reading the best of the best Western stuff which made every other anime/manga seem kinda...horrible and poorly written. Which is funny since I'm ususally not biased like that.

Here is what I like:

I'm a 80's and 90's buff, so most stuff I prefer is kinda old. I PREFER shows where female characters are neither over sexed (giant breasts), nor completely useless, whiney, pedo bait, etc. Anime I love are Mobile Suit Gundam, Noir, Kino no Tabi, anything by Hayao Miyazaki, Read or Die, Dirty Pair (original), most works by Rumiko Takahashi, Princess Nine, Patlabour, Robotech, stuff by Masamune Shirow, Bubblegum crisis, amongst other shows. I enjoy strong female leads but they aren't a requirement. Just no Shoujo/Yaoi/Yuri I can't stand that stuff. Thanks.

I not a big fan of shoujo, I could give you reasons buuuuut... I know of Full Metal Panic but never bothered. Isn't it basically a soldier kid, with all the personality of Soundwave, gaurding a blue haired girl who is important for something and he later develops feelings for her? It's like a comedy right?

Now that show Rideback I checked out for curiositys sake and I think I might like it. Know where I can find subs of it?

I was bored so I made a tribute to Rezo, from Slayers. I'm quite happy with it, the lyrics fit his story rather well.

Ten points to everyone who recognizes the chanting I used in the introduction. :P

Kirby RBAY...... =;

but i digress

Ojamajo Doremi, does have similarites, much in the same way that Wedding Peach, Cyberteam, and others do of presenting a color-coded team of girls.

Doremi is different in the facts that the team rather than shoot for a group of high schoolers, these girls are Elementary school kids. Their actions are split between two worlds, a magic one where the do fight for good against bad guys, and the regular world where they try to use their powers to help people.

Honestly thou, I couldn't get interested in the show when I first saw it, let alone sit thru a 4kids dub.

IMO, If you want more Sailor Senshi type stuff go for Peach, Cyberteam or even Nanoha. If you want to watch something Maho Shojo that is good, forget the team aspect and watch CCSakura (NOT CARDCAPTORS, horrible hackjob) or Pretty Samy.

Gundam 00, episode 14:
I didn't want to have to go with an MKV format, but it's all I can find right now.

-Hey, new song. I much prefer the songs from season 1, this new one is a bit too similar too Gundam SEED for my tastes.

-Nena once again meets Setsuna, and Setsuna once again rejects her like a bad kidney.

-That guy I mentioned? Who I assumed was an old buddy of Smirnov? He's planning on a coup d'etat from within the Federation because, c'mon, the A-Laws are jerks.

-Ian's back. He never died, though, so the Geass Laws of Death still haven't taken effect. (Aside from everyone from the end of Season 1 who wasn't in CB) In a scene that I'm sure was done by the people who brought you Excel Saga, he steps out of sickbay...only to be confronted with a lovely mountain scene, and a massive hole blown in the side of the Ptolemy.

-New-Lockon meets Anew (By which I mean, no one is shooting at them and they can actually talk), even insisting she call him Lyle. I bet something is going on there.

-Marina sings a song with the war orphans...God, I wish that hadn't happened. She was annoying when she was overly melodramatic, and now she's overly happy, and it's just as bad, if not worse.

-Thank GOD it cuts to Setsuna fighting Ali. That's exactly what I prefer, the main hero fighting the world's leading expert in Murderology.

-Ali leads Setsuna to the remains of Krugis. There, Setsuna meets Ribbons, who reveals himself to have been the pilot of the 0 Gundam. (Remember when I said Ribbons appeared much earlier in the series than anyone had thought?) Killing the Anfs attacking Krugis was the performance evaluation for the 0 Gundam, and that it was so classified, everyone else was supposed to die as well. Setsuna was spared because Ribbons could see that Setsuna admired the 0 Gundam as a savior, and made Veda give Setsuna the position as Meister of Exia. Ribbons, however, demands that Setsuna hand over the 00 Gundam, since Ribbons should have been the pilot.

-Setsuna refuses, gets shot by what appears to be a Fake-GN particle Pistol, (It looked like a normal 9mm, but it had Fake GN Particles coming out of the barrel) and then fights Ali again.

-I had thought "How is Ali going to handle the 00 Raiser, which greatly outclasses every other MS in the show right now?" And the answer was "Wound Setsuna beforehand." That makes a lot of sense.

-You remember how Sevaree had that face on it's back, and those extra arms? No? It did. Turns out, it's an entirely different MS, Seraphim Gundam. Tieria mentions Nadleeh when using it. Bring Stabbity is killed when it turns out Seraphim can rip through GN Shields, and also it's arms are cannons.

-Ali attempts to shoot down a Katharon jet, presumably just because it was there and he hadn't massacred anyone in a while. (Knowing him, that's probably true) 00 Raiser in Trans-Am floats up next to him, when he notices how his cockpit is flooding with GN particles. They go back to the same shot, where 00 Raiser is now on the other side of the Arche Gundam. 00 Raiser is very fast.

-Exactly as Setsuna gets a chance for a killing stroke against Ali (A first) he is psychically stopped by Marina, who once again sings that song of hers...my God, does she know that she basically allowed Ali to escape? Although, there was a small explosion from the Arche just before it started falling, it didn't seem to be near the cockpit.

-I really don't like Marina. She's like Rolo from Code Geass, except she doesn't have superpowers or a robot.

-Post credits, new Mobile Suits are handed out. Louise gets a prototype Mobile Armor (At least I think it's an MA, it could be a Variable Mobile Suit like the Arios), and Graham finally gets his new MS from Billy. Billy mentions how he implemented a few theories on GN Drives he had found at the home of the late Professir Eifman. Can't wait to see what that means.
