It's official, we have to stay on Japan's good side. They build a 60 foot tall statue that can move it's head, simply because it was it's 30th anniversary. I'd hate to see what they could do with it during wartime.

I ruined Bleach for myself the other day. I was checking deviantart.com for some random pics to use for some screen savers, and I came upon some colored scans that people had done of spoilers that's a good ways past where the anime currently is in Japan. And me, being the idiot that I am, couldn't stop looking at them.

Now I need to watch me the new Fullmetal Alchemist series...

The problem is that at the time, I had seen some out-of-order pics...now since then I've found some damn good Youtube videos that have got me caught up to the Japanese manga...and I had a discussion with one of my friends about watching these before the episodes get animated, and we are both in agreement that since it's the source material then it can't be a spoiler.

And I think they're getting ready to do another sidearc in the anime, so by the time the manga gets animated again I'll have forgotten what I read...

...so in the meantime I'm gonna watch Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.

I read some stuff on that, and a lot of the episode descriptions sound like almost EXACT replicas of episodes from the first series.

Yeah, they seem like condensed versions of episodes from the original series, with some changes being made. My theory is that since the original series was being made while the manga was going on, the anime got caught up at the time and created its own ending; so these current new episodes are intended to bring previous viewers up to speed and bring in new viewers who didn't watch it, and tell the rest of the story in anime form the way it was meant to be since the manga has gone further ahead...

...I think.

That's how it seems to me.

I got that the stories manga and anime for Fullmetal Alchemist changed course from each other at some point, but even after the anime ended the manga continued?

Yes that happens when you make an anime based on a manga that hasn't been concluded yet.

Have you heard anything of a new series of Elfen Lied? I mean that show was finished with 13 eppies back in 04, I think, and has an open ending. I know the manga still continues till today but that will never make it over here, especially not since Gantz was taken from the market after just book3. But my friend heard of a rumour that claims that there actually is some kind of a sequel to the anime.
I know it's unlikely as it wasn't as successful in Japan as it was in Germany and for the fact that the show is so old. All I found was crap about the rumour and posts that sounded a lot like wishful thinking. But I also found this:

Now that video confuses me, it confuses the hell out of me, I don't understand French but it seems to claim that it's an episode. My first reaction was awesome, but then I noticed it's just stills with French subtitles?! WTF!? So I think it's just some fan made crap, but then again that vid is full of stills I've never seen before yet tehy look like they are actually part of an animation that or it's pretty convincing fanart. But WTF is it witht he two Lucys/Nyues?

Anyone know something, that makes me real happy or real sad?

Sorry, I have anger issues lately...

For something a little more objective; I'm not really into violence for the sake of violence, and Elfen Lied is packed so full of horrendously pointless death I feel a bit sick when watching it. It's all about the shock factor and very little else...

I'm sure some people love that, but I can't stomach it... It's depressing to watch characters die so horribly for absolutely no reason.

What do you guys think of Kyo Kara Maoh? I'm almost done with the second season and I have one main complaint.

Yuri is clearly not gay, but he's still engaged to Wolfram thanks to his ingnorance of demon customs when he first arrived. This was hilarious at first, but the joke has become very old and borders on being beaten to death.

Lady Flynn has been hinted at being a good love interest for Yuri so what's taking them so long to to give Yuri a girlfriend.

Some people claim the series is a yaoi or however you say it, but it's clearly not a gay anime. The writers just don't know when to end a joke.

Kyo Kara Maou is on my list of things to watch but I haven't started it yet so you've got the advantage on me here, but it is a terrible habit of some anime/games to leave the possibilities of romantic relationships up in the air for fans to fill in the gaps on their own.

What's funny is that all the girls I talked to that like the series think the same thing. The joke has become old.

They never kiss or any crap like that (If they did I'd stop watching). It's just that Wolfram is always running around trying to keep Yuri away from anything that would constitute him being unfaithful. He's overprotective to the point of it being creepy.

What can you do, eh? Those kinds of characters are sort of a mainstay... and you can't always get what you want in terms of plot romances. If I could, Ryoga and Ukyo would be together and Akari wouldn't exist.

I guess the only thing I can do is hope season 4 changes for the better.

I know season 3 has something involving the engagement being broke off and then reinstated (to Yuri's dismay), but that's all I know about the series.

Season 4 is still unconfirmed, but the shows popularity almost guarantees it.

You might find yourself pleasantly surprised. Things like that are often resolved toward the end, though I have no idea how long the story actually is since I haven't started watching it yet.

This is one of the scenarios in which you should watch the dub. The sub isn't all that good. Kinda like Black Lagoon.

78 episodes have been dubbed. That consists of seasons 1 & 2. Season 3 should be coming out soon.

I'm hoping things will change. I like to beat jokes to death as much as the next person, but this is just excessive.

I'm in a similar boat as you I don't enjoy senseless violence but I actually really like the story behind Elfen Lied.

Now a show that's just totally wrong is Samurai Gun, it seems as if it's just about cruelty against women and have Samurai (they seem more like Power Ranger KOs) run around in bright coloured suites of armour and shoot things, that's right they have no samurai swords (or Katanas).

Any body like Shin Chan?
