I recently upgraded the strength of one of my mechs and when I went to install some armor I noticed Iron was just about depleted. Is it possible for more to be added?

Unless you are putting more than 5 tons of it on, save your energon. The difference it makes is that of less than 10% to the damage you take without it. If you can wait about two weeks I may be changing the specs of one of my bots which will free up some iron for you.

I might be wrong about this, but isn't armour just 'destroyed' with a reset or an armour upgrade? So, unlike the weapons, there's no actual possibility to 'free up' armour?

Honestly I am not sure. I figured it would be worth a shot to see if the pools open up with the removal of some, but I am not 100% certain myself. If it is destroyed, well there isn't much help I can provide.

3 is the only rank I have, so maybe one of the higher levels can fill in the numbers after that.

Anshin, thanks for the advice, but in my experience any armor is better than none. Even if it's only recycled beer cans, that small percentage of damage resistence could make the difference between stasis lock and victory.

you know ive never seen anything change when i use armor, is that because i use the crappy armor?

There are a number of factors that take place when you use armor. The amount of strength that you have (which in turn allows you to wear more armor), the amount of strength your opponent has, the weapon that your opponent has, the opponents level, and finally the your rank level.

At rank level 0 the best you can expect is about a 10% absorbing rate of the damage you receive. So if you are fighting at level 1 with 10 strength with ten tons of Iron and you get attacked by another level 1 with 10 strength but no weapon you can expect that some of your opponent's attacks won't show up because it may have been 2points, but your armor has reduced it down to 0. If however a level 9 attacks you with say a laser blazer sword, you could take up to 70 points of damage with a reduction of only 3 or 4 percent.

As you rank up in armor and levels this reduction will even more

So, three weeks later we're still iron-less. Any chance of spreading some information to those of us without the XP to purchase other armor forms? Maybe I'm looking in the wrong threads, but it's been rather quiet on the armor question.
(And yes, I know there's been a significant offline issue affecting stuff like this. I'd just like to keep this particular problem from being forgotten about.)

I know Sustain and Dynamax are currently between houses so their internet is a little interrupted. So if anyone has any info it'll be her.
