If you order from Nippon Yasan always pay in yen. Do not pay in USD. The conversation rate is incorrect for USD. Check for yourself. The have a currency converter at the top of the page. https://www.nippon-yasan.com/figures/18 ... apple.html Switch from JPY to USD Then put the 2 numbers in a currency converter. If you pay in yen you'll be paying the correct amount.

But isnt that the case with every retailer that isnt of the same currency as you? They usually take a cut if you exchange money since it costs them exchange fees too and they pass it on to the buyer. Plus, if you pay in Yen, either paypall or your credit card company will make the conversion and also give you a rate that is different to the actual exchange rate, because they add a fee as an extra 2-2.5 percent.Was the difference in rate at nippon yassan higher than 5%?

If you're using PayPal they're just going to charge you for the conversion by using a less favorable exchange rate. Most credit cards also charge a fee for conversions as do some debit cards depending on your bank/credit union. There's really a lot of ways to get screwed on conversions.
