The forums staff and admins are currently discussing these issues. The whole thing is a big grey area we are trying to hash out. This thread in particular has come up a lot. This thread is about the art and the creativity of it all, and we would hate stifle any of that magic.

For the time being this thread will remain as it has been. If anything changes it will be made clear.

I dont see how its sudden, the site always had a place for 3rd party and still does. And we remain a friendly bunch, just now this whole discussion was amongst news staff, we are all well aware of the great respect we have for one another, but as Cobo said things arent super clear.
You shouldnt see it as trying to stay away from third party but instead more like wanting to stay on the topic of official TF toys. Its happened many times that we got carried away speaking of power Ranger toys somewhere on the TF boards and that conversation was then moved elsewhere so that we could stay on topic of Transformers (and by the way, that same Power Rangers thread is still around today woohoo!)

Plus we have our collection threads where we can do all that we want (including dirty jokes ). Speaking of which, I will answer your question Sigma in your colletion thread.

Oh and SW Silvehammer, you might hate me but all I can think about right now is...
As we go on, we remember all the times we had together
and as our lives change come whatever

Some of us absolutely despise the so called "3rd party" (what a misnomer) market and would rather it was relegated to its own photo topic in its own form. You'd still have a place to post photos, I just don't see why they need to be posted in the same place as official figures.

So I take it you despise people selling fan customs and fan art as well then? They're pretty much the same thing.

I for one really don't much care for the recent crackdown against 3P stuff. Even putting aside the whole "B-BUT MUH OFFICIAL PRODUCT" issue, it's a matter of consistency. 3P stuff has, AFAIK, always been allowed in the photo thread. Changing that out of the blue is a bad idea. Is this part of some new directive from Hasbro to the forums or something? I know Seibertron is quite closely affiliated with Hasbro.

I understand the need for a separate 3P subforum, but completely banning any and all discussion of 3P stuff from the "main" forums is not a good move. The forums were just fine before this unnecessary crackdown- all it will do is cause division and resentment.

No one has said anything about any of what people are commenting on, staff included.

If anything changes from the official stance that has been around for years, you will hear it directly from the admins, not news staff.

What "crack down"? There is no crackdown. Things are as they have always been. A place for everything and everything in it's place. If anything, there has been a rise in our users forgetting that that's how it works around here.

Please don't turn this thread into a debate over this battle. What about my post was unclear? The one where I basically said "IT'S OK".
