My Mirage is very sturdy and the plastic is hard. It isn't flimsy at all. It sounds like the one you got your hands on was a lemon unfortunately.zemper wrote:i once bought a classics mirage, but when i opened it i was horrified to find out that it wasn't assembled properly - it had a gap at its seams at the sides when transformed into robot mode. grudgingly i took him back to the toystore and exchanged him for a classics BB. i'm happy with the BB, good homage to the G1 fig while being unique at the same time.
though i still vote for prime because of his bendyness, much more poseable than armada bendy prime. if they found a way to address the issue of side panel kibbles on his forearms, he's be perfect.
P.S. is it just me, but don't you find mirage's construction flimsy at best? the plastic's too, er, strange for my taste...especially the spoilers which form his feet. too soft and bendy. nice mold, wish they'd have used much stronger plastic for him.
Best Classics?

I added my opened Bumblebee and Astrotrain to my "openers" shelf so I took new pics. Getting pretty crowded up there but it's the only place I currently have to display them.

Skywarp and Jetfire were my favs. Also liked Mirage.
I just wished they toned down the colors on Megs. For a bopgun he made a well sculpted figure. Love that custom megs hoosierdaddy. Thats how he shouldve looked.

I appreciate the complement. I was trying to take off the wings for display purposes but I couldn't find a way to get the pin out for it. I think it would look better for display if I could get the wings off. Anybody have any ideas for that? Of couse I want to be able to replace the wings when needed so i don't want to braek or cut them off. I just need to get that little pin outta there and the wings will slip right off.Menasorwheels wrote:Skywarp and Jetfire were my favs. Also liked Mirage.

Awww! I love this line. It's actually what got me back into the transformers toys. I've only been able to get my hands on a few of them but so far Grimlock and Mirage are my favorites.
I've been hunting down some of my favorites of the movie figures but the classic line is what won me over.
On a side note, if anyone knows where I can get some of the following I'd appreciate it.
Classics Megatron
Classics Starscream
Classics Skywarp
Classics Astrotrain
Classics Bumblebee
Classics Rodimus
Classics Ultra Magnus
I know there is the trade section but I've not been having any luck there so far.

HoosierDaddy wrote:To be honest, I never realized the Classics line would come to an abrupt end. I figured they would be around for a while and that it would take a long time for them to gain any value. I look back now and I passed up a gold mine worth of thse figures because of the presumption. I came across an entire case of Starscream before last Christmas. They were at Wal Mart and the case was made special so the figures could be displayed right in the case. It had a solid pack of 12 Starscreams. That was only one of many times I came across some of these and passed on extras. I actually only had one Optimus and one Rodimus and I broke down and opened them because they seemed abundant in the stores so I figured I would pick up MOC ones later. Wrong move. The ones that I do have extras of, I bought after I found out they stopped making them and the figures were starting to dry up so I grabbed what I could. Thus the extra figs in the pic. But I lost my oppertunity to get Optimus and Rodimus. Lucky for me my Wal Mart brought out some old stock and I was able to pick up my Optimus and an extra Jetfire. But I had to go to Ebay for my Rodimus.
I know what you mean by not picking up Classics when you had the chance. When I was on the hunt for movie toys before I got back into TF collecting I saw plenty of Classic Bumblebee in stores and I always thought he was awesome and I figured I would get him after I got my first movie toys. So by the time I was ready to get him he had vanished from stores and I have not seen him again since. I've been desperatly searching for a Classics BB,and I may have had some luck this afternoon. When I was at a local comic book store this afternoon I was talking with another TF collector I know and complaining about how I can't find BB. One of the girls who worked at the store overheard me and said that she saw a huge, virtually untouched TF toy display in a store that is not visited very often and she thought she saw a Classics BB there. By the time I got to the store it was closed, for the day so once it opens again on tuesday I'm heading down there to see if I can find BB.

Here is a better pic of my Megatron. It's not the greatest custom ever but it works for me for now. I will eventually spend a good amount of time and redo it much better.

Thanks. But the way the picture took it looks like the lines I painted are messed up but that it just the way the picture took for some reason. All the lines are pretty clean.tom brokaw wrote:[really nice, especially like the red highlights.

LOL, I don't know if I could. I actually unscrewed the whole figure and spray painted all the parts individually. Then I reassemble him and put on the highlights. It was pretty time consuming. I have plans to make it better but it's so time consuming i haven't gotten around to it yet.Xgamer wrote:Nice.... do you take orders?

Probably the Seekers, but being one of the lucky few who managed to get a full set elevates them in my eyes somewhat.
Currently, i have only Rodimus, Starscream and Ramjet. But the full set of the seekers does prove quite satisfying, indeed.

Oh, I did go ahead and open Bumblebee and Astrotrain today. So my review is, Astrotrain's robot mode is kinda plain and not extremely posable. The Space Shuttle and train alts are cool though. Bumblebee looks fantastic in robot mode and I'm excited that I opened one. He looks great in poses and really compliments the others on my shelf. Big thumbs up for Bumblebee. But, still give the posable trophy to Mirage with Starscream being my favorite over all.

Release em all from their plastic bubble prison!
Skyfire is awesome in jet and robot mode, even though he has posibility issues.
Optimus Prime is just leet. (Voyager)
Nerf gun Megs...huh? Where do I put in the plastic ball to shoot out?
Cliffjumper and BB are awesome if you can find either one, just get em.
Grimlock alt mode badass, Grimlock robot mode dehdeh duurr
Ramjet and the other coneheads n seekers are the best jets in any line.
Astrotrain looks almost identical to another mold of a G2 char, forgot the name but ya.
Rodimus is riding in style.
Mirage seems a lil flimsy at first but he'll become a favorite, can pose him in several positions and he's sexy.
Think thats all the main classics..Not counting the Meg and Prime 2 pack, Soundwave, 20th Prime or the Target exec. The Target exec. Which is Ultra Magnus vs Skywarp are just repaints and basically the same mold as Prime and Screamer.

HoosierDaddy I was curious just how difficult was that Megatron to take appart? I've not really looked em over but I never considered taking one appart for painting. I've done customs for GI Joe's, Marvel figures, and such but never a Transformer. I'd appreciate any hints you might be willing to offer on this Megatron. If I can get my hands on one I'll have to do what you did to yours.

iheartarcee wrote:gotta be ram jet. Strong in both modes and very sturdy. I like jet fire, but Hes not as solid as ram jet
Not got Ramjet yet, I guess he lives up to his bulky strong style. Jetfire is my favourite, loads of guns, a helmet that comes of to show the Skyfire face, looks like the Macross fighter, even the booster is awesome!
The only thing I hate about classics is the shoddy repaints, my Ultra Magnus is missing colours, and some joints won't tighten!

It isn't very hard but you will have to make sure you keep the internal parts together so you can replace them properly. There are little gears and springs that go in there and I just kind of laid everything out in a manner that it was diassembled but in order. So when I looked down it looked like the way they lay out a dinosaur fossile while piecing it together. But all you have to have other then a decent memory is a small phillips screwdriver. I'd say it is more time consuming then it is hard but it is fun when the paint dries and you reassemble him and he looks proper. I put the smaller details on him after I put him back together but that part would be up to the individual I guess because you probably have more control over the details while he is still disassembled.adamantNEO wrote:HoosierDaddy I was curious just how difficult was that Megatron to take appart?
