Why not? It's less than a seven hour drive from Buffalo. I already have my trip planned out. Leave Saturday morning at about 3am. Get there a little after general admission starts. Stay for about three or four hours, then drive home, unless we decide to stay at a hotel and drive home Sunday morning.

Unfortunately I don't have a car (or a license), so driving is pretty much out of the question. As it is, I'm at the mercy of public transportation. Add to that I don't exactly have a lot of cash (college, let alone the nursing program at NCCC isn't cheap, lol). About the only way I could see myself going to a Botcon any time in the immediate future would be if it landed in the Falls, and I think the odds of that ever happening is somewhere between "slim" and "none". :P

Thanks for the suggestions of the Millenium hotel, optimusprime410. Unfortunately, that and the Hyatt are definitely out of my price range. *tear* All help is appreciated, tho.

I've been roaming around the web (mapquest.com)and I found a decently cheap hotel for $69 a night that is located .6 miles from the convention center. I don't need a fancy hotel, just a room to sleep in and store all my possible goodies.

Then again.... now might be a good chance to try Couch Surfing. I've always wanted to try that. Anyone here have experience with this site?

Well, I guess that's a good reason. :-(

They got a website where you can make reservations? If so... Can you hook a brother up?

So... Since this might be my first Botcon ever, can someone break down the prices for me? Like, what's admission price, and what's the price of the boxset, what should I expect to drop in the dealer room... Etc.

Also... Is it possible to buy two boxsets? Or would I have to drag along a girlfriend, hand her some money, stick her a few people behind me in line, and pretend not to know her?

So going to this. Probably going to have 5 or 6 TN 501st members there, and a few Ohio Garrison people. Any other 501st members wanna hook up for dinner one night?

It's probably much cheaper to hold it. Providence probably wasn't that cheap to hold it, so maybe they are recovering some costs.

Last year the Primus package was $279. That got you everything. The box set and admission to all of the activities. An extra loose set ran $179. You would have to find somebody else to buy another Primus package if you want another box.

Those prices are for members of the Transformers Collectors Club. If you are planning on getting the Primus package and spending a couple days there, I highly suggest joining. The money that you pay for joining the club pretty much evens out the extra that you would pay for being a non-member. Plus you get a free figure and discounts on the club exclusive figures as well.

Then there is the convention only exclusives. Those set will probably cost about $90 and $60. That may be off a little but it should be close.

Take as much money as you can for the dealer room. You're going to find all kinds of stuff that you want, and you probably won't get the greatest deals in the world, but there are some good ones to be had.

And prepare to stand in line a lot. But it's cool, because no matter where you are in line you can turn around and say "hey, do you like Transformers?" Instant ice breaker.

Hope that helps.

This year, I am going all out. Last year was my first BotCon, and I was poor so I opted for the Protoform Package, which got me access to everything except the Awards Dinner, one or two other smaller things, and no box set. This time I'm definitely going for the Primus package, and I guess I should join the club. Staying in one of the convention hotels would be nice, but I didnt do it last year and probably won't this year, depends if anybody comes with me. As long as I'm nearby, I'm cool.

That's only like an 8 hour drive. Maybe 10 at most if you stop a lot. I can get from Toledo Ohio to West Virginia in 4 hours non stop. Hell dude just take a boat across the lake into Sandusky harbor. Then just hit 75 south.

Well, Botcon 97 was in Rochester NY, and 98 was in Anaheim Ca...

The real question is when are they gonna come to the ATL?
I am a little bummed about this, but If I really want to go, I'll find a way.

Pfft. Cow tipping is just a myth. Besides, I don't think there are cows in Cincinatti.

Actually, what IS there to do in Cincinatti? I also have no idea.

Cow tipping is real, I know people around here that do it all the time.

But I thought Cincinnati was a good medium sized city?
I hear about it all the time so that must mean something.
