BotCon 2011 Box Set - Animated Stunticons
Re: BotCon 2011 Box Set - Animated Stunticons

Not because they made it a fem-bot, I don't care about that, but there is something I just don't like about the look. Maybe it needed a head re-mold, Maybe I was looking forward to another bot in this color scheme, I don't know.
BUT, that said, I am still loving this set, and this will be the first Botcon I am planning to attend. That decision was based on the use of TF:A molds for the boxed set.
I was a huge fan of the show and the figures, and I decided a while ago that I would attend when they made Animated the focus.
So while it may seem that there is a 50/50 reaction out there, know that there are fans who are really, really looking forward to this set and this convention.

With that being said, it is both hilairous and amazing. I'm actually considering saving up for the boxset...

I for one want to see this character and how she's handled in the story. I just wish I was getting the set this year.

But with them using Cheetor and it being widely known that Blurr was based on an unused Cheetor design, that was the best way to go with that character. Pete says Drag Strip will work and I believe him. The character will not be transgender. That's the real point of all this. Did anyone have any problem with Red Alert being female in Animated? No. Different universe, different character, different gender.

I'll deny that lol... Even if we were not doing Blurr as Cheetor, I still don't see that toy as Drag Strip, especially when you look at the set as a whole. He would not have looked right with the make up of other 4.
Thanks for the support though! I'll be curious to see what you think once you see them all together!

Rant aside, I'm just liking the use of the Arcee mold in this set. I was hoping for it to be used for Wildrider instead, but I too have no probs with a female stunticon. I think this set will do well in that it's an actual set. Full on Stunticon. No having to buy pieces if you don't want to. Just one box and it's all there. I miss the days of group sets like this. Not only that, but since this is a dead toy line, I can see the set actually holding value. (like we thought 2007 would had the line died)
As for the Botcon add-ons...I am hoping so badly that it's not all Animated figs. I'm hoping that we can still get some non-animated characters for those of us that DON'T do animated. I've even told CP that I'm still hoping that the add-ons aren't animated even though I'm definitely coming around to this set.

To me Animated was one of few steps in the right direction for the franchise. Since, apart from the names, most of the characters actually had original designs and personalities, which made the story seem like a little less like a complete rehash.
Ugh, really makes me wish I had the moolah to go this year. Then again, I also thought the same about last year. At least I can get a taste of them with Transtech Cheetor and G2 Thrust.

This is the kind of info I really want and get excited about the convention! I mean, the set we always find out about through you guys. The add-ons though, I need to know what they are! Heh. I look forward to more character reveals.
As for your response to me, I learned my lesson with BW and Animated about judging things before giving them a chance. Animated less so because I wanted to enjoy it and I very much did. We just have some hardcores and some hardheads here. Some are just... "special".

I didn't realize just how many people would be bothered by Dragstrip being female. Like it has been said, it's a whole new universe, so anything can be done. I really enjoyed Animated, and I know that some people love the designs. I will admit I am still a bit surprised by a Botcon TFA set, but then again I collect in the "Neo-G1" realm, so it's just not me.

This is the first BotCon set I've ever been interested in acquiring. What are my option for getting my grubby little hands on it? I know they'll eventually show up on the eBay, but what else is there? I've heard the term "non-attendee package". Can anyone give me the run down on what this is and where and how I can get my name in for one, and the approximate price point?

If I remember correctly, there is a one called the Iacon package. It not only comes with the box set, but a bunch of other kool stuff from the con like a t-shirt, etc. Keep on the Botcon website. I can't remember when they start allowing the orders, but its really close to when the con is about to start. i may do this, myself, but I'm still not warmed up to the Arcee being Dragstrip yet.

@BotCon Technically there are SIX members in Motormaster's Stunt Convoy. I suppose if they are all truly Stunticons or not is debatable.
Earlier today we learned from the Botcon Twitter account that this week's reveal would be Wildrider, using the Animated Lockdown mold with a newly molded head! Who could this mysterious pseudo-Stunticon be, debate away in the Energon Pub!
