I think it's hilarious. I thought last years set was fully retarted, but after I accepted how rediculous it was I fell in love with it.
Same thing with this years set.

Gauging just the reaction online, this will be our most popular set yet, at least on the same level as 2007.
A female Drag Strip in the Animated Universe made perfect sense and a huge thanks to all the Seibertronians that get that![]()
Looking forward to the last two reveals!

Starting with the 2008 set, each individual exclusive has been a hit or miss for me, the sets as a whole have been a miss. I know the sets sell out every year, but I feel like some better choices could be made (and let's be honest -- they're only selling out because of the limited numbers and that people are buying extra sets to resell on eBay -- I wouldn't use the fact that a limited exclusive sells out as a metric for success especially when there are many collectors out there like me who simply buy every single Transformer that is released). I understand that you guys are intentionally going out of your way to avoid the 2007 fiasco, but I think you guys have gone too far the other way now where I feel like you are frustrating some (notice I said some, not all) die-hard and big money collectors like myself.
I think turning Drag Strip into a female was an unfortunate and poorly thought out decision. The name Drag Strip could have been applied to the molds used for Breakdown or Dead End and no one would have said a word and this whole discussion wouldn't be happening. But applying the name Drag Strip or Wildrider to a female mold implies many tongue-in-cheek thoughts/comments that are not appropriate for a family based convention.
I hope you guys will take things like this into consideration in the future.

I'm more surprised that you're surprised than I am by the fan reactions. You know what your audience is by now and that you can not please us all. As a big fan of both Animated and the club, even I had a negative kneejerk reaction to Animated for Botcon. Drag Strip for me is the turning point. I love the deco and I'm curious to see where the next two reveals take us. One way or another, I'm going and I'll have a great time.

Oh, I know we would not get 100%, even among those who LOVE Animated, and honestly, the set reaction is exceeding expectations... I am just surprised that the reaction is more 50/50 here. Maybe there are more hardcore G1 peeps here. Skewing it a bit. Of course that is a whole nother topic, as I grew up with G1 and have (almost) always embraced the new takes on the brand/characters i.e. BW, BM, RID, Animated to name those at the top for me
