Gauging just the reaction online, this will be our most popular set yet, at least on the same level as 2007.
A female Drag Strip in the Animated Universe made perfect sense and a huge thanks to all the Seibertronians that get that
Looking forward to the last two reveals!
Starting with the 2008 set, each individual exclusive has been a hit or miss for me, the sets as a whole have been a miss. I know the sets sell out every year, but I feel like some better choices could be made (and let's be honest -- they're only selling out because of the limited numbers and that people are buying extra sets to resell on eBay -- I wouldn't use the fact that a limited exclusive sells out as a metric for success especially when there are many collectors out there like me who simply buy every single Transformer that is released). I understand that you guys are intentionally going out of your way to avoid the 2007 fiasco, but I think you guys have gone too far the other way now where I feel like you are frustrating some (notice I said some, not all) die-hard and big money collectors like myself.
I think turning Drag Strip into a female was an unfortunate and poorly thought out decision. The name Drag Strip could have been applied to the molds used for Breakdown or Dead End and no one would have said a word and this whole discussion wouldn't be happening. But applying the name Drag Strip or Wildrider to a female mold implies many tongue-in-cheek thoughts/comments that are not appropriate for a family based convention.
I hope you guys will take things like this into consideration in the future.
Our position. She was very thought out and we did take the name in to consideration. But please don't blame us because people are being playfully "childish" with the harping on the name.
Kids will no more make that connection than they will with names like "Blowpipe" and so on. I know for one that I did not make the connection with "Erector" when I was younger, and heck, I was a teen at the time!
With all due respect, for anyone concerned about the family oriented nature of the show, stop making the jokes. But last time I checked, in cartoons aimed at kids, toys aimed at kids, video games aimed at kids, there are sexual innuendo's put in there that only adults get. THAT said, this was NOT even intended that way. Drag Strip was the best choice to be made in to a female looking at the toy options and character options. We also know that this "joke" will have a very short shelf life, especially once her characterization is revealed.
So yes, Drag Strip. Ha Ha. Its funny. Okay, now lets move on to the fact that she was very inspired, will be an awesome female character and will look great on any Animated fans shelf!
