Rated X wrote:The Botcon 2007 Alpha Trion figure was not classified as "Shattered Glass". The SG concept came out a year later in 2008. Now if they started using SG stories in the comics before Botcon 2008, I honestly wouldnt know.
Rated X wrote:TF wiki says Storm Surge is a Target exclusive, not a Botcon exclusive. Since I have never read the comic, are you saying Target based this repaint on a SG character ???

Doesn't mean a whole lot to re-purpose Autobots and Decepticons into a theme if people don't read the media or even care about the theme.
I don't buy it anyway, Shattered Glass needs to follow the basic themes, and one of them is swapping the colors of the factions. I mean these go back as far as Beast Machines Tigertron? WTF!? That's garbage. Basically you can just say that any recolor is Shattered Glass and BOOM! you got yourself an army of evil Autobots.
In media I'm fine with, that's laying down some mythology for people to read in to. But as official toys, I may be old school, when the corporate suits have their Chinese orphans working 18 hours a day stamp or sticker or however they wanna do it, a Transformer is labeled that faction 4Life.
If people want to take toys out of their own collection and re-purpose that's fine too, do what you want with your toys, but all of a sudden Fun Pub wants to write them into a story and they are officially Shattered Glass toys, it's just gonna cause headaches.
zodconvoy wrote:It doesn't change the original toy, it just gives the option to the people who want it.

Aye, if it wasn't for some of their SG characterisations, I would not have gotten some figures.
Black Huffer is an awesome figure
zodconvoy wrote: So they have two choices: create a character with no toy and be called bastards for not giving people the, say, Shattered Glass Huffer they want or say that the black version of Armorhide (who they already used as Huffer themselves) was evil Huffer and move on with their lives.
Well, had Animated gone into its fourth season, there would have been a Shattered Glass-themed episode with Bulkhead and Sari winding up in the SG Animated universe. We probably would have seen these people in said episode:Rated X wrote:Wow you guys are digging a little too deep into the whole Shattered Glass concept. I hope some guy from Funpub isnt reading these posts and saying give em more repaints because they cant get enough of them on the forums. I have a couple KO shattered glass figures that I use as "Cybertronian Decpeticons". I dont really like the SG concept because it just seems too "comic bookish" to be used on the big screen or a TV mini-series.

Maybe I'm not reading your post right, but it sounds like you wouldn't have been interested in the toy if someone else hadn't been able to give you the insight of what it could be. And regardless of how good said toy is you would never know with out the re-purposing.

On a relate note, the SG Transformers never knew of Primus until Classics Cliffjumper told them about him, in which Primus was described to them as a benevolent creator.
