Great point you make here.
Not a sheeple.
Think for yourself, don't let the magic TV box and social media do the thinking for you.
Question EVERYTHING!!
Just because you have a youtube review channel doesn't make you special.
I look forward to attending a Botcon soon only to settle matters with several idiots in person (yes this is a threat).

It's a repaint of a seeker mold.

Yeah, like we've never seen that before...

What's next? An Optimus Prime toy?

Actually, they've already repainted Prime as Ultra Magnus for the target-exclusive two-pack.

And as far as this It's a repaint of a seeker mold stuff is concerned, it's actually another remold for Starscream. Still has the Ramjet head from that mold, but the wings have been redone again in Thrust's style.

I'm still pissed that this is a botcon-exclusive, but the reason why is that (even if it is just a retool of Starscream) this is too good a figure not to release at least as a target or wal-mart exclusive.

I didn't mean an Optimus Prime repaint, I meant an Optimus Prime toy. period. As in Seeker repaints are as much a part of every TF series as Optimus Prime is.

The toys may look good, but this set is nothing unique, nothing original, nothing mind-blowing, nothing worth the price tag these guys are gonna have come this time next year... in short, nothing really interesting to me.

Yes! That's what I've been trying to say this whole thread.

People are complaining to Hasbro because they actually made figures that everyone wants... I don't understand.

I guess Hasbro just can't please some fans, no matter what they do.

And It's $179.00 for a loose set only if you already bought the box set? In other words you can't just buy a loose set for $179.00? Is that right? So we get the rest of the seekers, who are the other 2 figures?

Well, basically this is how it works:

1) There is a non-attendee boxed set of the five figures for $329 for non-club member and $279 for club members.
2) You can get the 5 figure set in a "loose set" (basically in plastic baggies) for $179 if you purchase the Primus (attendee pkg) or Iacon (non-attendee) pkg.

Those are the two ways of getting it. Obviously the loose set would be the cheapest. But if that is all you can afford then you'll have to beg someone who is going to Botcon or already purchasing the non-attendee pkg to get the loose set for you.

Now keep in mind that there will undoubtedly be people purchasing a loose set to sell on Ebay after Botcon. But those sets will surely go for more than the $179 the seller will have paid for them. All the more reason to just buy the non-attendee package at least.

Edit: The remaining figures are Dreadwing & Bugbite which they have not unvieled yet. Based on the pattern of preview pics I'd say the next figure will be unvieled by Monday.

Thanks for your help. and clearing that up! ;)^

On another note,
I think people that are not happy with this, myself included, would BE happy if these were made available at a much more reasonable price, to more people. I really didn't care that much for Botcon exclusives in the past, but These figures are a big deal in the TF toy world and are pretty much what we want to see as collectors and TF enthusiasts. It just simply sucks that these aren't exactly budget friendly. I REALLY would like to have these figures, However I am contemplating just forgetting about them. Anyway, Congrats to those who are getting this set, and here's to hoping I'll find a way to get them myself.

I'm not sure what to say to this. You comment is like saying, I will only by one TMNT as the other 3 are just repaints....baffling to me coming from a TF fan.

Anyway, Thrust looks awesome. Way beyond my expectations.

Heres to hoping the bonus figure is Sunstorm.

BTW, aren't we missing a Classics Blitzwing? Ah, one of my faves seems to have been forgotten by Hasbro.

People are complaining to Hasbro because they actually made figures that everyone wants... I don't understand.

It's really very simple. No matter how obsure/crap botcon figures are, a certain type of hardcore collector will always want them anyway because of their rarity/exclusivity. Meanwhile the casual collector just shakes his/her head and smiles and says "Let those oddball botcon types have their expensive fun. It's no skin off my nose. That armoured tank character repainted in pink and purple polka dots just wasn't for me anyway." This is how it should forever have been. Alas, Botcon 2007 has shattered this amiable state of affairs and set collector against collector by producing "figures that everyone wants".

Who knows, maybe this is how the war on cybertron began. I wonder what transformers collect? Sounds like an alternate tf mythology weird enough to accompany a botcon exclusive set...

For those who were keeping track, I fully admit I was wrong. It's still the wings coming up like Starscream, but this was outdone with all the remolded parts. My hat's off to whomever is responsible for Thrust.

I also would like to squeeze their privates in a vice for not making this a general release, but cest la vie or whatever...

Quoted for sheer awesomeness.

When I say I can't go to Botcon, I understand clearly I can purchase them from the Club, for $329 + whatever shipping cost is incurred. For the botcon collector, that's apparently no big deal.

If Botcon could sell the figures individually at $55-75 a piece, I bet a full 50% of the complaining would disappear immediately. Because even if it's 5 figures divided into $329, I simply don't care about the other two. So my perception is that I'm forced to pay $100+ per seeker, and the other two, however neat, have no place in my collection.
(and yeah, I'm anticipating the 'well just sell 'em' responses. thanks.)

For the serious collector, the $329 is an easy call. It's 5 bots, all with high value and quality, that will make fantastic additions to your collection. I get it, as an ex-member of the 4000+ figure club. For the casual guy, who really only wants, 3, 2, or maybe just 1 of these figures, being forced to spend an exorbitant mark-up, just for nostalgia, blows. I imagine there are a lot of guys, casual collectors I'm guessing, who always wanted a full seeker set, but could never justify spending $70-100 on one loose G1 off ebay. So Classics gives them half the dream, and then takes it away.

I'm certainly glad these figs are going to be in the marketplace. And I don't begrudge anybody who has paid for this set; I'm glad there are people who do it, because it means there's real market health in the hobby. But getting mad at people who can only afford to spend $20-$50 a month on their hobby seems a little over the top.

I think that might be oversimplifying matters. Almost like saying why pay 200 grand for a piece of metal, called a Ferrari. Maybe not the most appropriate comparison, but you know what I mean.

Yup, that's pretty much it. Though I would argue that this really started back in 2006 with the "Dawn of Future's Past" set. I mean, we got some stinkers (Rattrap and Dinobot immediately come to mind), but on the whole the majority of the figures produced then were wanted by pretty much everyone.
