He's my favorite POTP Deluxe so far. Snarl and Moonracer are probably the next two in line. You got any other POTP's yet?

Dreadwind is a really cool figure. I was surprised how much I liked him actually. He was on the do not buy list, but got him for xmas. The colors are just great and really make him seem like a new toy (the arm remolding and fancy wing parts help). I love the head sculpt and I can't help but see a super hero. Mine always has one Hulk fist! Of course then I felt obligated to get Darkwing Duck
Slash is really good, but I had to burn though two of them to get a working copy. My first one had two left legs. Really great addition to the Dinobots and fits in perfectly. She is like their little tag-a-long sister
Since shajaki brought up PotP favs, I'm going go with a tie between two odd turduckhens of the line - Battletrap and Rodimus Unicronus. The dinobot crew are good and all, but those other two are just fun and weird in that oh so lovely toy kinda way

Today was one of those days where I had a lot to do in a short space of time. Come on, you all know the sort of day I'm talking about, we've all had them!
I don't know what time it was, but I had a thought, a fleeting one at best, cause I had all this work to do, "I need a plastic fix!", this was followed up by "HA! You know K-Mart isn't going to have anything, come on man, they're getting out of DVD's and Blu-Rays as it is!"
But hey, it's Thursday, and it's been a bit of a habit for me to check K-Mart out on a Thursday, been doing it for years. So I come home, pick up the fiancée (yeah I got engaged earlier this month btw) and we head to K-Mart. I figured at the very least I might be able to pick up Black Panther (jokes on me, they're clearing out their DVD/BR section, Black Panther will not be available in this town!) and I make it to the toy section. Look at the hanging racks first ... still Wave 1 of POTP. My eyes drift down to where Studio Series has sat for the last few weeks, and it didn't register at first but then it did. "That's not Studio Series! That's ... HUN-GRR!" and my eyes drift to the left a bit...ELITA-1!
Full price though ... $49AU. But I didn't care, I had a $50 K-Mart gift card, I was saving it for any sales that may happen, but realistically, there may be sales, but there won't be any stock.
So now Hun-Grr and Elita-1 are mine. Haven't had a chance to open them yet though.
TL;DR (you know you come here for my rants!) - I got POTP Hun-Grr and Elita-1...and engaged (but lets not dwell on that)

There's something you can do with the words Elita-1 and engaged...
KMart is very odd, they never have stock but usually have the new things first.

Huh, I spotted those two voyagers for the first time just this week in some random podunk country town I'm working in. Coincidence? Yeah probably it was at a walmart on the other side of the planet.

They were the last to get wave 1 of POTP but the first to get wave 2. Odd is an understatement.

No, but we did look at one date, some time in June next year, we worked it out as it's the date that falls right in the middle of our birthdays.
The only plan we have at the moment is a trip to Vegas to be married by a Midget Elvis impersonator.

I got new stuff! Well, new to me ... not really new itself. While everyone's showing off their fancy new Power of the Primes I'm just over here going "LOOK AT MY ACTION MASTER!"
Yeah ... Action Master Over-Run. 100% complete, all for the low low price of $61.40AU. Could have been $10 cheaper though, the E-Bay auction had the postage set at $17.40 but the sticker on the box says $7.95. Oh well.

All things considered, he's pretty **** useless. But hey, he's an Action Master, being **** useless is their gimmick. But hey, it's one more ticked off the list.
The next package to arrive will be much more interesting!

Came home today to find another little package waiting for me. Thought it would arrive until next week.
I open it up. The figure has been wrapped in a plastic bag, and to make sure it's safe in the box, a small piece of coolite had been added.
Let's just show him off.

G1 Pretender Splashdown.
When I saw him pop up on e-Bay, I was excited. That excitement overrode my brain, I should have done my research.
Yes, he's not complete, and finding those parts won't be easy.
If I'd looked closer at the pictures, I would have seen the handle on his red gun is in fact snapped off, and his black gun had been chewed on.
What I couldn't tell from the pictures was how **** loose the legs are! FFS, he has to man-spread to stand! Plus there's a rusty screw, that's never a good sign.
So I **** up. I let my excitement get in the way of common sense and research and I've been disappointed.
Always, ALWAYS do you research when buying vintage figures. ugh.

Sorry to see you get... BURNED...
More sorry for that pun
In all seriousness, that sucks man. I have purchased VERY few vintage TF's since I got serious in my collecting, but when I did, I was crazy paranoid. So paranoid, so cautious, that by the time I was willing to commit I was surprised they were still available.
Jetfire was a lesson learned. The "complete" Jets seemed so outlandishly expensive, that I thought it would be easier, smarter, and cheaper in the long run to hunt down the missing pieces. The base Jet I picked was pristine, had 70% of his parts, and a great price. But in the long run, I think it ended up costing more (time AND money) than if I had just gone for the seemingly expensive complete ones I had scoffed at in the beginning.

That's not paranoia, that's just being smart. I normally am when it comes to G1 stuff, I just brain farted this time.

Ten years and more ago you could easily have taken an incomplete figure and completed it relatively easy, the market was fair and parts were common.
Now days because they're "vintage" the price is higher and parts harder to find because more and more collectors are looking for parts.
I had a quick look on e-bay last night for parts. There's a guy in the UK who is creating reproduction parts. They're cheaper, not sure if I'm happy having repro parts (though I'm okay with repro stickers, go figure) but then I look at the genuine parts and each one is around $50US a pop. ugh.....

I think repro parts are fine if the original parts are easy to lose, rare and expensive on the aftermarket, tiny, prone to breakage etc. They're intended to enhance/restore existing figures that are long out of production and definitely not to usurp sales of current product (by which I mean "sell literally the same product for cheaper than the original" not "Make a better original mold"). Like, if I somehow ended up with a Black Zarak I'd be VERY happy if someone made replacement parts for his GPS-afflicted bits, because Black Zarak looks amazing but touching him will cause him to disintegrate.
Full counterfeit figures are a no-no IMO (with exceptions for rare and crazy KOs or KOs that do really original things with the molds- see Four Star, AKA WeiJiang 30 years before WeiJiang was a thing).
Topic: Poor Splashdown. That's a neat shell design though, a shame BotCon is dead because Gen Skybyte would make a great base for a Splashdown exclusive.
