It IS a completely original monster movie.

I have this feeling that people still think it is one of them

Of course they do. Why? People are morons, idiots, stooges(not the good kind), goons, etc.

I saw the trailer with Beowolf. This movie really is starting to lose it's appeal. It seems what we feared is starting to come true. With them showing a lot of new footage, it doesn't seem like that good of a film. It really seems(thus far) to be all hype.

Hopefully I'll be wrong and this movie will be good.

It looks like it may not only be a monster movie but some sort of infection movie as well.

My guess after seeing these images is, something attacks NY, and some sort of infection is spawned from the creature. The main characters are ones that somehow do not get infected.

Could be a possibility.
There are so many theories out there now, one somewhat recent one is the "slusho" is somehow responsible.
Abrams really succeeded in what he wanted to do..
There is so much speculation now about it.
I just hope it is worth it.

I'm guessing your not a catholic or you havent read the "Book of Revelation" from the bible.
The book tells of two monsters that will rise at the end of days.They are both refered to as "the Beast". The First Beast arises out of sea with seven heads and 10 horns. The Second Beast arises out of the earth having the appearance of a lamb while speaking like a dragon.

There is also the tale of the "Two Witnesses" from the "Book of Revelation" They are two people,concepts or "corporate beings" that are described in the book as witnesses to the Beast.

Sounds to me like they could be the guys filming with the home cam

yeah, i'm not looking forward to a religion-themed disaster movie. i doubt it is because JJA has stated that this is an ORIGINAL monster.

For me It would make me want to see it more if they go with that idea....but not for the reasons you might think.I'm not much for religion but back in my film classe in the late 80's at NYU I had this idea about how it would be for me or others [that didnt really believe very strongly about god and the Bible] about how it would be for us to find out that we may have been wrong.My film idea was set to be told at new years eve 1999 and I also had the idea that the film should be shot with a home video cam.

My idea strongly featured more on the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse and the Two Witnesses were going to be me and another person.There was also going to be a back story that I was a person that thought it was a terror attack and the other character was a preacher.The end of the film was going to be the release of the Beast Monster the Book of Revelation.

So I would go see this film just to see if they stole my idea

I really don't care for religious overtones in the movies or TV I watch. Even if Cloverfield ended up like that, I would probably see it anyway. Other than The Mist, this is the only upcoming film I want to see.

What if this contamination is radioactivity emmited from the creature

Godzilla has nuclear breath and the japanese never address this about parts of Tokyo being radioactive after Big G shoots out his fire breath

Why bother to make it HD?
I mean it's all blurry and all.

I can hardly make anything out in that pic, I know there must be something, but I can't put the things in that pic together!
I really hope it will be better once it come out, co I love Monster films, but I hate to watch stuff that won't give you a really good picture quality, it just hurts my eyes, and I have a damn good sight usually.

You do relize my friend that parts of star wars is based off of religion.

Lucas has said it himself, that the force is based of the concept of god or some kind of power.

On topic:
This movie is going to be so overly inflated, like most of hollywoods movies anymore, that it's probably going to suck.

Well of course, the force itself was only a backdrop to a larger story, while, if this is all about the Apocalypse, it isn't going to appeal to many people. Besides, Revelation is not explicitly a prediction of the end of time-- if I remember, at least the Catholic Church has stated it's a metaphor for Christianity's struggle though persecution.

Though I have to say, this movie isn't exciting me at all. It looks like it's going to be another cliche monster film which could be better done as a redemption from Godzilla 1997

Yes you do and what ever it is, it's kinda grey and moves fast and almost like the Roland Emmerich Godzilla, that I used only as a comparison, so it moves lizard like, but more you can't make out, well not me for one.

The Catholic Church has changed its views on the book of Revelation more ofthen John Carrey did on the issues of his campain......but I just always thought the idea would make a good Si Fi monster flick.
