Whoa whoa whoa... Cobs, the Star Wars KING isn't going to share his thoughts on the new movie?
I'ma talk about it. So y'know,
SPOILERS.
I get the points of contention, namely the repetition. But one could argue, with all the complaining about the prequels can you blame them for going back to basics? I actually had no issues with Death Star the 3rd. It was built INTO a planet this time, and its destructive output and power source was really cool. Sure it was blown up again by ships, but the strike was made possible by guys on foot bustin some stuff up. That made it much more realistic to me that sense defying torpedos and Falcon sized paths to the cores of the previous two.
I heard people complaining about Finn using a lightsaber? Seriously, they're not Jedi only. And it's easy to believe that he had that kind of combat training when he started fighting a fellow Storm Trooper with that gun-baton thingy.
Chewbacca was probably my favourite part of the movie. And it made me realize he didn't have as many "shining" moments in the older movies. He was funny!
BB8 was adorable. And not to his detrament. The torch has been passed.
Kylo was great. With all the talk from the Emporer and Vader about "releasing your anger!" I was ecstatic to see one of them finally do that! I loved his temper tantrums.
My main points of contention however, were:
-Han goes back to being a drifter D-bag? Seriously? I don't buy it.
-Leia DIDN'T learn the ways of the Jedi? The hell?!
-Rey is able to hold her own against Kylo (even kinda kicks his ass) with ZERO training. Making her more bad-ass than she really should be at that point, and making Kylo look like kind of a puss.
Those few quibles aside, I loved every second of it. The new cast worked so well together that you'd think that they'd been making movies together for years. Just all around, 5 Jaki stars.
