This does look a lot like the proposed MP Huffer design that was revealed, which I only just saw for myself.
It's not a 100% match to it and is missing at least one gimmick, but it's really close and pretty cool. This one really does fit in more with the MP line than Krank does, Krank looks more like a Classics version than MP.

Im not knocking Cubex and their take on Huffer as it offers a great alternative to having two similar looking figures which portray Huffer and (X-Transbots) Pipes.

You know, we can always chalk these size discrepancies up to the Ark-1 computer basing its repairs on the shapes of the Cybertronians, and scaling the Earth modes to accommodate the amount of material present, ergo, Huffer's original alt-mode must have resembled a semi truck in some way, but he's just not that big. Ark-1 doesn't know that semi trucks aren't made that small on Earth, right?

(I realize that this doesn't account for Megatron's Earth mode scale; my theory has no way to rectify that.)

Anyway, just playing Devil's advocate...

Yeah, scale really was consistant in the eighties cartoon series!

My point stands. If I do pick up Cubex Huffer or X-Transbots Pipes for that matter, both will fit snuggly amongst my reasonably scaled Classics line-up, as I prefere the idea that a trucks are bigger than cars, so should be bigger in toy scale also.
The 'mini-bots' made absolutely no sense in my mind. I mean, a truck that was the same size as a VW Beetle!! :-?

The scaling issue in Transformers has been an ongoing hotchpotch since the start and hasnt really got much better to this day.
They can try and align the continuity but struggle with scale! :???:

If Cubex can match or beat the pricing of X-Transbots then Im on board!

But guys, not all trucks are the same size. Some are really big and some are significantly shorter. (I've been paying attention to trucks outside recently.)

And the engineering on Cubex looks amazing -- short as a robot, and not that much smaller than Prime as a truck. Witchcraft!

(Now lets see them do a Motormaster that is as tall as Prime in robot mode, yet as big as Prime+trailer in truck mode. ;)

Actually, he's pretty damn close to cartoon scale (for robot mode at least)

I think he's a perfect size if you want either him in your MP collection, or a larger-sized Classics figure (I still prefer Botcon Huffer for that though)

This thing is fantastic, it's so hard to resist at this point, but I'll hold out for the Takara version. Would be up for a weird repaint though. Something in black, like that one test-shot.

Looking closer, theyve added a few extra minor moulding details here and there and smoothed off the face sculpt also, assuming thats going to be the final version?
