Yeah, I'm glad I cancelled my preorder on this guy at the last minute. I kept waffling back and forth between getting it and not getting it and finally decided to wait. The QC issues and Has/Tak's renewed interest in the character (hopefully increasing the likelihood of Takara doing their own MP cartoon Skyfire) have finalized my decision. No Kronos for me.

I bit on FT's not-Shockwave and still question that decision. I doubt I'll be buying any more 3rd party MP's.

optibotimus and the other guy nailed this straight! Peaugh sometimes tends to gloss over some important details in his reviews.I was one of those who was planing on getting this but the issues with his shoulders, foot pads and the lack of landing gear......... saves me a lot of cash. Will be getting the Hasbro Leader and wait for an official Tomy release......eventually(?)

I think the difference here is Peaugh got his early for free while Optibotimus brought his. If the situation is different I'm sure the reviews will reflect as such.

That's weird..........I remember posting my thoughts just recently. Anyway,optimbotimus and another poster here nailed the figure with their straightforward review.

I was one of those hyped for this but I'll just be getting the Hasbro version and wait for an eventual MP.

I have nothing against peaugh but in some of his reviews, when it comes to details, the important ones,he tends to gloss over them.

The back pack connector being "die-cast", was there a sudden change in samples?

This figure, I give Arafat a B for effort.The lack of landing gears was a bit of concern back then. Parts forming isn't an issue but the breakage of the foot parts? Not good. Shoulder issues (okay I give this a pass 'cause the now defunct Yamato had a snafu similar with the reversed pin placement)

So this fiasco can't be salvaged anymore no?

All the thin plastics concern me. I also noticed something in all the reviews that I've seen no one mention so far that really concerns me more than anything else (aside from the actual QC issues, obviously) and that's the extremely thin/small free sliding plastic 'loop' type bits that go around pins to hold on major components such as his arms and those chest panels. I could easily see those wearing, warping and eventually cracking and breaking from sliding around, flopping around and getting just slightly tweaked in the wrong directions over time, especially since you have to basically leave them flopping around in all directions while manipulating the main body of the figure during transformation for several steps. I don't believe those are going to hold up well over time at all.

I do love the way he looks in bot mode and it came out way better than I initially thought it was going to in that regard, but after seeing the jet mode, the engineering and the QC issues, I'm not touching it. Even if the QC issues are fixed, I don't believe those joints/pins are going to hold over time, especially if the main body and those bits that loop around the pins are as flimsy and thin as they appear to be.

Some of these last posts are missing some of the story on this figure. Arafat has reached out and is trying to fix issues that were mostly factory errors such as plastic selection and whatnot. Apparently all the units shipped before the errors were caught. Peugh reviewed a figure that had the proper plastics used on several of the problem areas hence him not being able to relay whatever issues the rest of the units were plagued with. I could link the conversation but not sure if its appropriate to link to a competitor site.

I do believe that these issues should have been caught, but also understand this isn't Hasbro, just one man making a toy. I for one don't feel like disparaging Arafat. Kronos at the end of the day is a great figure, all things considered. If you collect MP figures and don't have a moral issue with 3rd party stuff, not having this guy in your collection is a shame. Especially since the issues he does have are gonna be addressed shortly.

Thinking this might make a interesting and nice repaint for this Kronos toy. Deca could always add in a second 1985 toy face plate head along with the initial animated head.

This deco will more likely be an eHobby exclusive of the Generations Leader Jetfire mold. Let's see if Daca survives the QC onslaught before we speculate on future versions of that toy...

I had never seen that purple Jetfire. Is that a "Decepticon Jetfire" deco? Was it an exclusive? With my love of purple, it's probably good I didn't know about this repaint. I can only imagine this would be one of those transformers that goes for over a grand...

Ah, so it was a custom, and maybe of a knockoff. Still, given what Jetfire MISB goes for, $1200 for a unique paint scheme, that looked really good, in my favorite color? Yeah, I'm glad I didn't know about this one. I might not have made it to 17 years of marriage...

Saw Peaugh's review of this guy. The rather flimsy-looking arm/chest rail assembly looks really fragile, and the partsforming bothers me.

I will give credit where it's due though- the robot mode is very G1 accurate, and the design is hard to pull off well (what with the cartoon model looking kinda derpy). And the hands look great too.

Still, I'll pass.

Yea, it's pretty easy since it basically comes apart to swap modes.

He looks good on the shelf, and there mine shall stay.

But who's to say he wont sell the mold and its rights one day for some quick cash instead of just letting it collect dust ?

I doubt anyone would buy the mold.

It is the transform that sucks out loud.

I've gotten nothing but compliments about it on the shelf in bot mode ... and I agree it looks great. If you can get it for about $50 on clearance, it would add to either an MP or classics shelf, but there is a lot of room for a better version of the character.
