Fixed. This has nothing to do with Transformers fandom, it has to do with insane, fanatical people in general.

Like Burn said, he's the guy who wrote Beast Machines. He did get death threats over a lot of things done in Beast Machines. I really didn't follow too much at the time, but Skir came across as a lot more openly hostile, and you could make a fair case that the story he wrote for the Legends book was in part an attempt to slap fans in the face one more time. I seem to recall some less than complimentary things said on his web site toward Transfans as well, but I can't remember the exact details.

That's another thing I find funny.

"Fans" will bitch and whinge and call the creative person all sorts of names, say all sorts of things about them.

But the minute that person says something back to those "fans", they're suddenly the victims.

If Skir came out and said stuff on his website to fans, good on him.

There are assholes in every walk of like, every occupation, every race, every colour, everywhere in the world, and in every community. I just hope people don't assume everyone in these groups are represented by these particular few.

Wasn't this really old news? I remember him saying this a very long time ago. I'm sure the death threats were over exaggerated, but scary not the less and not really cool at all. Still, I'm not forgiving him for those designs just because he got death threats.

Imagine going to jail and someone asking what you were in for... 'Transformers death threats', you'd be everyone's bitch.
And there you have the reason for this common act of movie guys getting death threats being released as "news".

Your post.

Does noone else understand this is a manufactured pity party to make Bay look like the poor, beaten artist and the long-time fans farting on the movie as "nuts"?

I'm betting the writers of "Golden Girls" got death threats.

This is just a freaking publicity stunt.
And there's a ton of suckers falling for it.

The writer of Beast Machines. Fans were pretty outraged at the ending.

Actually you're doing a pretty good job of falling for things. Why?

This isn't a publicity stunt. It was an interview where he made a flippant remark. There HAS been death threats towards him, i've seen them posted on these very forums numerous times in the last year and a half.

What YOU are falling for is the fact that you're buying into the hype of things. I can see that he didn't mean anything serious by his interview, he dismissed things and moved on. It's the "fans" that have latched onto it and made a big deal out of it. Just like what you've done.

Congrats on buying into the hype and making things worse than what they are. 8)

Yeah, saying this is a publicity stunt is pretty ignorant. What does he have to gain? Any kind of sympathy generated by this won't automatically result in ticket sales. And the whole "poor, beaten artist" this is just BS. The guy's got more money than most of us will see in our life time, so it would be really hard to feel sorry for him, at least for me.

Noone's askin' for you to feel sorry for him anyway. And by your snide remarks about the topic, you wouldn't anyway. Just cuz you got some petty vendetta against him for raping your childhood, doesn't mean he's full of ill intentions.

Guess he'd best go End of Evangelion on 'em in the next movie: print the messages on some screens just before Unicron turns everyone to Tang...even though that would make a second sequal kinda' hard

i hated how they ended that show, but thier bringing it back so
eh

this is pathetic, how to many over obsesive fans are threatining his life, i like the way the movie looks, and some fans will hate it but come on, the neards who are stating this should grow up

Well said my man.

And yeah bay is rolling in it. You know that silver Ferrarri will smith drove in bad boys 2? That was Bays own car. He has now upgraded to a later model of course.

Still, no one deserves death threats over a freaking movie. If you want to send out death threats, send em to that twit in the white house or the taliban or people who are facking up our world and starting wars, not a bloody film director!

These people need a serious reality check! Losers the lot of em.

As turned off as I am by some of the things that Michael Bay has done with this movie and by his dissing of the cartoon, I find sending death threats a childish and irresponsible way to respond beyond words. People who are disgruntled by the movie like me need to realized that cooperation and civilty are the key words here. It's the only that either side will come to terms with and sympathize with each other's point of view.

But as for all the other criticisms; sorry Mr. Bay, I've never seen a movie of yours that I didn't like, but the same principles that give you the right to make a movie however you want also give fans the right to complain about it.

I'll probably get flamed for saying this, but I even enjoyed Pearl Harbor. For all its historical inaccuracies and silly subplots, it did have an exciting "imagine if you were there" feel to it.

This Movie has deffiently rattled a lot of cages, and we have truely seen the worse in people. But Death Threats? Thats way out of line...I cant believe anyone would be that stupid. Yeah I've been preaching about trying to get over the designs and that not everything will be how you'd remember it, But I only do it to try and calm people down, you know make em realizing their over reacting. And When smeone over reacts just a bit too much, This is what tends to happen.

Love it or Hate it. This Movie has really made an impact, even before its release.

Still gonna watch it though, no one's gonna stop me

I hope that's not grudge wank I smell.

Look, when it comes right down to it, death threats do make the fandom look bad, but ultimately it's the individuals who do those kinds of things who are responsible for their actions. I'm not about to take blame for something I didn't do, especially when I've been defending this movie various places for months, now. And I am a member at Allspark.com, but I know that place has its share of people supportive of the movie and of Bay, same as here. It's not fair to blame an entire forum full of people for wank in the fandom. I've seen TF wank on Deviant Art, for frag's sake. People making fandom look bad can happen almost anywhere.

I've been lurking on these boards for at least a year and I was hoping to sign on in a jollier context, but... Gotta make a point where I feel that I need to.

This is pretty damn silly.
So Michael Bay says that he received death threats.
I say: So what ?

It's showbusiness. People receive death threats over every silly little fart. The difference is that usually, they're left ignored as the inconsequential trash that they indeed are.

So why does Bay bring it up publically ? Campaigning.
These days, the movie industry is taking internet-word-of-mouth very seriously. "Snakes on a Plane" is a prime example of how far this can go. The entire tone and direction of the thing was changed around to match the internet memes.

Ever since the first bits of info about this movie leaked out, there has been a campaign going on to make the critics in the fanbase look like stereotypical fat & crazy basement virgins. And you know what ? It's working ! I've seen people do a full 180 on their stance just so they're not being grouped with -boo, crazy - "Gewunners".

Besides, since when can Michael Bay and crew be believed ? Does nobody remember how many time they lied directly into the collective face of the fanbase ? Does anybody remember how many times the leaked designs that were "Not final and to be revised" turned out to be the exact thing they ended up using ? Does anybody remember that the leaked script was "totally rewritten", with the final movie merely sporting some cosmetic touch-ups in comparision ? Does anybody remember that there were supposed to be "logical and storyline-related" reasons for Prime's altmode design ?

And finally, does anybody remember the utterly unprofessional and childish behaviour of Bay's camp ? Does "critic can go suck a goat" ring a bell ? They invited hatred, they got hatred, and then they turned around and pointed their fingers at it.

And like good little sheep, the fandom goes "Ohhh, bad people, were are not like that ! Please, Mister Bay, may we proceed to enjoy the rich flavour of your scrotum ?"

Come on folks, I thought that you were smarter than this.
