THIS STORY IS NOTHING MORE THAN MICHAEL BAY ATTEMPTING TO GET SYMPATHY.

This "shocking story" is just boob bait for morons, so they'll go, "Woah, death threats? I might not be too happy with Bay, but he doesn't desrve to DIE!"

...followed by going out and watching it...

Stop being suckers, people.

And, somewhere out in Hollywood, an arrogant jackass laughs...

Meh...I'm not so sure about that.

We've known what the TFs are going to look like for MONTHS. The worst venting by the fanbase has been done. And with each new trailer and clip that's been popping up, more of the fan base has let up and opted to give the movie a chance. The diehards who have already decided to avoid the movie aren't going to get their minds changed regardless, so a sympathy bid at this stage in the game wouldn't make any sense, IMO.

Plus, I don't really see this as an issue of sympathizing toward Bay - I see it more as evidence of how f***ed up some fans are. While I dispute that 'EVERY' movie ever made has elicited death threats, it's been proven that for almost every fanbase there ARE a few wackadoos out there who have so lost touch with the line between reality and fantasy that they are a danger to themselves, if not to others (ex: the initial Trekkie reaction to the one-two punch in the early Star Trek movies of Spock's death and the Enterprise's destruction). So if Bay says he's gotten death threats over this movie, I'm actually inclined to believe it.
I got yer new Captain America right here!

Not surprised, just disappointed... I understand why someo people are disappointed with the movie designs, but this is NOT the way to handle it, especially considering that Bay himself didn't draw the damn things. And most, he just said "I like how that one looks, but could you so-and-so and we'll see if that makes it look better or worse?" until they settled on final designs, and probably even that was actually someone else's job and he was concentrating more on what was blowing up and who was launching the grenades...

I think someone really should pass along an apology to Bay in behalf of all the sane fans, and try to work on repairing bridges so that we don't come off as all being crazy.

I seem to recall reading that Bob Skir had to cancel a Botcon appearance years back due to similar threats.

I protested his design....but i never thought about killing him. Er...i di THOUGHT i d'int know how!

You're not kidding. I got death threats from someone, and I'm not even sure why. I think it must be because I didn't give him a good slapping when he deserved it...

You tend to not look very intelligent when all that you post is something akin to, "this is the worst piece of $#@! that I have ever seen. Somebody has to pay for this!" It is definitely your right to talk about your displeasure, but please put some thought into it.

Total agreement, and a lesson I think many people would do well to learn. If I'm posting on a particularly touchy subject I'll always try to read what I've said a couple of times to make sure it's saying what I want it to. Sometimes it doesn't quite work, but then sometimes you just can't find the right words when you need them. But yeah, if more people took the time to think about what they're saying there'd be a lot less upset.

Maybe "ignorant" wasn't the exact word I should've used, but I was trying to keep the tone in my post down. There were several other words that I considered using that weren't appropriate for this forum and would've gotten me a lot of flack (more than simply not adhering to an exact definition).

whoever is giving out deaths threats should be taught a lesson, and made to see reason, but I only think they should be banned from Ts (my Transformers abbreviation) related events and sites if they actually ATTEMPT to murder Michael Bay.

P.S. why is Transformers shortened to TF when "transformers" is one word? it doesn't make sense

Yeah, that's right ... people posted such things about Bay right here in these forums.

Sorry but a public apology would serve what? I for one am not going to apologise for the comments of an idiot.

Personally I don't know whether or not to laugh at these idiots and what they did I will admit when I first saw the headline I smirked.Actaully threatening to kill him is just stupid. If you don't like what he did, vote with your wallet, mouse, feet instead.Bay is not the first person who got death threats from the TF fandom. Look at Bob Skir. But Im with Burn that we should not apologize for what these people did.

No, you weren't. But at least for a few of us, there's a difference in the shock factor between something someone wrote for whatever reason, and actually having it stated.

I think this is uncalled-for. If these people don't like the movie, they don''t have to see it. It's wrong to threaten anybody's life. It is things like this that make all of us as Transformers fans look bad. This is why some non- fans think of us as contemptible fanboys. I, personally, don't want to be thought of this way . This is just one of the many interpretations of Transformers . We've seen many over the years, and I'm sure there will be more . If you don't like a particular version of it, don't threaten anybody's life over it. Just don't see the movie or buy the toys. Don't disgrace Transformers, or the Transformers fan community by threatening a man's life.

You know.....I just can't say I didn't see this coming. I'm not saying I agree with this, but there are some fans out there who would just get so angry they'd do something of this nature. I seem to recall this happening regularly in the GINO (1998 American Godzilla movie) Messageboards. It was so hostile in there Tristar closed them right down because there were too many users of this calibre sending in death threats via the messageboards. I don't really think these people are honestly wanting to kill Bay and are planning his execution as we speak. It's just a knee jerk reaction to what they think is a defilement. I don't know what else to say here other than that I expected this type of behavior because I've seen it all before.

That's pathetic. If those kids complain about the movie and thinking how pathetic it is, then they shouldn't watch it. Instead, they decide to complain and yell and make threats just to get attention. So sad. I feel sorry for Bay. I mean, things with huge franchises like Transformers are dangerous to handle, and with fans that will kill people just makes these franchises almost untouchable, which is terrible. Transformers needs a new movie, and yet, fans hate it. I'd like to see them make a movie with ILM. They can't. >_>

Send him angry complaints, perhaps? Or say nothing at all and bitch about it to the fellow fans online?

But death threats? Now THEY are making THEMSELVES look bad!

And perhaps a menace to our society, too? /:)

Sad and unfortunate death threats are issued on a man not only regarding an mere form of entertainment -- but one not even seen.

Those who have partaken in such juvenile delinquent behavior really need to look at their priorities in life.

Being irritated towards someone in particular who has a differing concept of Transformers, especially when the Transformers mythos itself has so many various concepts is rather pathetic.

Don't want to watch the film or have anything to do with it? Fine. Don't support it. No one's asking that of anyone.

But one's likes and dislikes regarding their ideas on a media don't warrant a death sentence.

When Courtney Love recieved her death threat she dismissed it as bullshit and continue touring. I would say to Michael Bay don't be a girl about it but then i think of her and realise not even girls act as scared. Its sad but true that noone will REALLY kill Michael Bay, and he's not the first guy in the movie business that recieved such mail, he would be the first one killed however and that way he could become a legend cause this way hes just gonna remain another asshole. I would never send anything of such content to him and not cause im scared of the legal consequences but because i don't think this man can be influenced or changed in any way or that my effort would be worthwile. I will simply not watch the movie where giant bugs are posed as realistic or good looking and then associated with the transformers. But im just glad he felt unease cause that seems like the least bit of justice that can be inflicted upon this stupid, arrogant prick. Transformers aside i have never seen a director with less acomplishment and a bigger ego. He has absolute no respect towards the fandom or the original series which to much of my amazement has found so much backing in many people online. Ok so its dated, he hats the designs and the characters he doesnt even know the names of. Thats all legit, hey i understand its not everyones cup of tea. But then why call it transformers? Why not make a film called mighty morfin giant insects from outer space. Cause he wants to profit from the very fans that he puts down in his every statement. So their money is good but their opinions lack judgement and they dont know whats modern? Whats modern a **** metal tarantula, jesus christ. I just cant believe that you cant honestly feel sorry for this guy.

I'm not sure, reading over the whole press conference, that Bay made a big deal out of the death threats. He mentioned them, and moved on. Hardly "crying" about it.

I think it's sad but, at the same time, not terribly surprising. As mentioned before, Skir got the same thing(and, to be real honest, Skir was more combative with fans than Bay EVER has been).

I took it as a flippant remark, he got over it and moved.

Something some "fans" should try to do instead of continuously blowing things out of proportion.

In hes own words he was freaked out thats why this whole crybaby post was created so that brainwashed idiots like yourself can express their shock at how rude the fans can be towars such a gentle and good natured creature like michael bay your new idol, and the genius that will be marked in film history as the first one that realised the potential of insectology when combined with robotics. Sigh...
Ofc he moved on he's not the kind that cares alot of what others think. Thats actually one of his qualities.
