Speculations continue to circulate about this info. With the whole "Bay disinformation" thing and all, it's really hard to say whats fact and whats false. There is a thread discussing this topic. You can find it here
And in case it hasn't been said
Welcome to Seibertron. Warning!!!! Seibertron contains nuts!!!!

Re: Devastator in TF2?
We already know the pic in that story is a good 7 months old and not to mention the design is strictly G1 looking so that's not going to happen in TF2 but as far as the constructicons being mentioned then that sounds like it's heading in the direction, just now heading in the direction of the first leaked treatment perhaps ?
I liked nearly every aspect of the treatment except for the Bay cameo that was too cheesy.

I know Bay is potentially going to release false info so that people don't truly know what will be coming in TF2...
BUT,
It will be BEYOND stupid if "false news" contains better stuff that's actually IN the movie...
Leaking that there will be Constructicons and Devastator, and then NOT delivering would be very very dumb imo.
I think it's one thing to "mis-lead" with parts of the plot.
But with characters, especially ones that people WANT to see...
Is Bay that moronic????

Actually not everyone thinks devastator will work in the more "realistic" Bay envisioned movies, on this site there was at least one possibly more topics started a few months back stating that gestalts simply would not work for the new movies.
One person even said something to the effect of "we can believe in alien robotic lifeforms from across space but to have them combine is impossible?" basically he was defending the idea of gestalts in the new movies.
I'm all for devastator myself but it's application in the movie should have some credibility to it..I would not want to see a power rangers type of moment where they just jump up or fly through the air and we see a flash of light to try and explain their merging away.

I'd love it if the combining was as complicated as any normal Movie transformation. So for example one Constructicon forming the arm would connect to the torso Constructicon through a lot of interlocking mechanisms.
Imagine five or six construction vehicles rolling towards the battlefield, driving alongside each other and transforming/completely interlocking until it forms Devastator on all fours, who finishes the transformation while getting up.
They wouldn't even need individual robot modes per alt mode. One robot separated over multiple vehicles ala Tidal Wave could be very cool already.

I understand that in Bay's realm of making Transformers realistic
it's hard to see Devastator fitting in and maintaining that realism.
But thankfully the idea of the Transformers existence and their ability to transform is based on imagination.
6 construction vehicles formed together would probably be too heavy to be supported by a city street.
In fact, each step would probably cause a 5 ft. indention in the ground.
This may be a bit of a reach and stretch, but imagine this:
the bots that come to earth and end up scanning construction vehicles for their alt modes are ones that are made of a metal that is unbelievably strong and light at the same time.
Thus making a combined bot aka Devastator incredibly hard to damage and yet as fast and agile as a bot 1/5 his size.
IF we don't see something as far as a bot that's this cool,
then Bay better have a kick-butt story line to make up for it.
Don't get me wrong, with the abilities of transforming in general, fight scenes can be taken up a pretty big notch.
But without amazing bots, those must be some amazing battle sequences with FRESH choreography...

I hope they do it like that.
Also:
I don't think it matters that it would be too heavy. The first movie wasn't perfect about that either. Besides, let it be too heavy. This is the second time people have said "But then it would crush the street!"
SO?????? How is that bad? We want destruction in this movie, remember?

We as humans have technology like that and have for decades so why not robotic lifeforms from another planet? if they are intelligent it would seem more than logical to believe that over hundreds, thousands or millions of years they will continue to adapt and improve their technology as humans are doing.
We've had Titanium for decades which is as strong as steel but lighter and we've also had a lot of newer technology like carbon fiber composites ( my knee brace is made of that )...it's hard as a rock yet very light.

Yeah, basically, it's possible, realistic, etc. that Devastator could be introduced in the next movie.
And man (if done correctly), it would please EVERY viewer in the audience.
What a nod to fans, and what a cool surprise for kids and people who don't know about combiners.
And let's face it, even with a great storyline, visually, the movie is going to need a boost like a combiner. Very soon, even cool transformation scenes of regular bots won't be that cool.
And by the way, I think everyone understood what I meant to say,
but I was thinking faster than I was typing and meant,
It'll be beyond stupid if false news is better than what ends up actually being in the movie.
It will be interesting... I wonder if it happens, and construction vehicles are made, what the combined bot's name will be...
I personally think Bay is too proud to correct his mistake.
Even at this point, with all of the Brawl toys that have been released, and the fact that a lot of people probably don't even remember the tank's name in the movie,
it'll probably be something different.
OR
Do you think that there's a chance that the combiner would be nameless in the movie????
Actually, what if they use names like, Hook, Scrapper, etc., and the combiner's name IS "Constructicon"
?????

Oh, I agreed with everything you said by the way.

Indeed!
the combiner's name IS "Constructicon"
?????
That is too bland or generic a name for me and does not promote a level let alone any level of fear, respect or carnage like the name "Devastator" did to all fans.
It kind of just says "Soup" to me without saying what kind of soup

By the way it was not so much Bays fault about the "Devastator" name in the movie but that it was actually a member of the production staff that really made that screw up. Bay may be the director and responsible for a lot of the details but can any director honestly be expected to oversee each and every detail down to the letter?
It was not really all that much if a big deal to me as he was the toughest outside of scorponok and megatron and pretty much lived up to his name unleashing a lot of firepower.

Excuse you??
I'm assuming you joking... Although I guess that's one of those jokes that people aren't suppose to laugh at.
I guarantee if a combiner is in the movie, the name isn't Onslaught.
Why?
Because a rep. for Hasbro will step in and remind the people involved that there is a figure coming out this Aug. that's named Onslaught,
that's not any where close to being a combiner.
And yeah, it happened before with Devastator and the toy being called Brawl, but that was a mistake...
I don't think Bay or Hasbro wants that situation again.
Constructicon probably isn't the best name, but I'm worried that Bay will make up a name that's stupid.
What would you guys think if he used construction vehicles for the combiner, and then used
Bruticus, Menasor, or even Superion or Omega Supreme?
Oh, and at some point, that name mistake is Bay's fault.
Do directors not watch films once they're edited and ready for showing; like a final viewing????

A final viewing yes of course but at that time it's already been programmed in to the film track and cannot be changed due to time constraints is all.
If they had decided to halt the release to make a correction like that it would have pissed off the fans anticipation levels even more, most people had been waiting years for it's release, I heard about it nearly three years before its release and they would have had to fix all the copies of the film and not just one then distribute all of them across the planet, that alone would have been a logistical and costly nightmare.
In the future it may be possible to distribute movies more digitally encoded across the net at much closer to release dates if mistakes are made and corrections needed but they are all still put in reels or equivalent to the theaters and shown that way so it's not like they could just download the fixed version in the theaters the night of the scheduled releases.

The fact that a director doesn't get to see the film before it's final "programming", AND before copies are made is just dumb...
Don't get me wrong, as you said before, you'd assume stuff like this would get taken care of.
But that process seems risky considering how much $$$$$$$ can go into a movie.

He's from a completely different line. A hypothetical TF2 combiner won't get a toy until summer 2009. Hasbro has always reused the same names on different characters from different toylines, often with only a year in between.

Yeah, but usually when they re-use a name, it goes to a toy that is in some way similar. I know there are exceptions, but not a lot.
It seems that Hasbro has stuck with this recently.

Re: Devastator in TF2?
A couple of points. One, Transformers are more than just machines. They are a species, so to speak. Species, while having slight differences and variations, are, for the most part, very similar. Take canines for instance. Canines are very different: from the wolf to the Chihuahua. They come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. The outside and physical stature can very drastically from one canine to the next. However, inside (and genetically) they are almost identical. My point, relating to Transformers, is while 'bots and 'cons might very greatly in appearance and function, their insides should be very similar. I find it very hard to believe some Transformers would be radically more advanced than others.
Second, if Transfomers were able to upgrade or evolve themselves Megatron would be very outdated. He sat in the cooler for thousands of years. By extension, all non frozen Transformers should have passed him by leaps and bounds. Look at the changes in our world over just the last 100 years. In this scenario Megatron would be viewed as a Model-T and the other Transformers would be modern vehicles. Yes, the general underpinnings are similar, but a Model-T would be smoked by a 2008 Kia. Megatron would have been owned by even the most craptastic Transfomer if they evolved as technology does.

I don't think people were saying that the Constructicons or Devastator would be a new or evolved species... What if these robots were built by another Transformer? Couldn't that be an automatic "upgrade"????
As in creating a metal that is not affected by extreme heat, etc., and is still ridiculously light.

How is that an upgrade? That would be akin to a human having adamantium bones. A person can be stronger, faster, smarter, etc. but they are not going to be "built" from different molecules.
